OF THE
TIMES
Briefly stated, the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well... You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward—reversing cause and effect...
In any case, you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know.

If it were simply a rust phenomenon, one would expect a large number of reddish icebergs (maybe even a larger number than the green ones) as well. While iron oxide may be the predominant component, the prevalence of the green color would indicate the presence of other elements in the mix that are just as necessary for the phenomenon to exist.
Let me solve another mystery, and assume that either the scientists or the journalists are dumbshits. Or both.
The article / science seems to attempt to justify that the bergs are green due to Iron Oxide by coming up with some ID (?) feeding mechanism of Iron Oxide to the depths of the ocean
Instead of cock and bull stories about why god felt the need to deliver Iron Oxide icebergs to the oceans, shouldn't they focus on the science - i.e. if the icebergs are green due to iron oxide, where does that iron oxide come from

But having them distributed over a large volume of ice means they were once distributed over large areas through the air. And how come such heavy compounds up in the air ... ???
When things are green without chlorophyll on this earth, (e.g., the Statue of Liberty, a true penny, et al) they are usually made of and/or involve 'Copper' / Cu; but I find no such references above.

Color is related to the determinant atom distances (wavelengths = light color).
And iron might be one of the ingredients for want of better word that was/is necessary for sustaining this particular species, if it is... if so it would have engulfed the iron particles and formed a protective layer preventing oxidation... that’s my kitchen table theory.
But they have been studying it for 30 years... ???
