After eight years of geeking over Minority Report's gesture-based manipulation interface, we're really pumped that it isn't all just movie magic anymore. It was only a matter of time before this would happen. Hackers are a crafty bunch after all.

Just days after Microsoft's Kinect was released last week, hackers have already managed to release drivers for the Kinect camera sensor. Much like how many hackers have modified the Wii Remote for their own projects, this video released by Floemuc demonstrates how hand gestures can be used to manipulate photos.

It's just a proof-of-concept right now with the entire hack running on Ubuntu, but boy does it open up our door of excitement. With reports of Kinect only costing a total of $56 in parts to make, Microsoft's gesture tech might have a major impact on industries outside of video games.
