The UFO Traffic Report for Wednesday, April 22, 2009, includes 11 sightings over 11 states, according to selected witness statements filed with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

Witnesses may report directly to me here on specific cases, but I request that everyone please report their UFOs at the MUFON.com web site so that the body of evidence can be studied. Thanks to the many witnesses who followed up with me here, and to those who have shared past memories of UFO cases. We have a staff of illustrators who can create graphic representations to your stories.

Please keep in mind that many UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON investigates and reports back on any of these cases, I will update this page. You can read my selected cases by type of UFO report at the UFO Traffic Report main page.

First we have a second witness from an April 18, 2009, sighting over Georgia. You can read the original story on this page - scroll down to the Georgia case.

The second witness, according to his unedited MUFON statement on April 21, said, "I saw it; I was there. I am a skeptic by nature, but this gave me pause. The... let's call it a ufo... the ufo moved effortlessly in every direction it headed; and, by that, I mean it moved on all 3 "contemporary" axes (x, y, and z), but it did so in such a fluid manner that is was arresting. It was brilliant and beautiful, and then it was gone. And then it was back again! It came and left a number of times, and every time we saw it, it continued to fly in illogical directions, performing impossible path changes. Good flyin', fellas"

In other news, there were three reports of discs or circular-shaped objects. The first case involves a person who was taking photographs at Chickasaw State Park in Tennessee, and later saw an object in the image he could not explain. The photograph is tough to analyze.

Tennessee, April 18 - Photo of a UFO over Chickasaw State Park

My family and I were at Chickasaw State Park this past Saturday and I took this picture of the lake and noticed the ufo after loading it onto my computer. I actually have two taken seconds apart.
A second disc report on April 18, 2009, over Indiana, was described as black and star-like triangular-shapes around its edges.

Indiana, April 18 - Black disc with star-like triangles all around the edge, used my binoculars to get closer look.

I was in my backyard (downtown Noblesville Indiana) looking up at some pigeons flying around and noticed a dark spot in the sky thinking it was a balloon a kid let go.

As I kept looking at this spot it moved directly over my yard and I then noticed the way it was flying was strange (not like a balloon) and it looked disc shaped. It was sunny outside with a mild breeze and some clouds to the East. I had my son bring me binoculars and I zoomed in on the object as it slowly flew over my yard from West to East and I clearly saw a black disc shaped object with triangles all around the edge, like a star pattern. It was rotating slowly but appeared damaged as it was wobbly rotating but in a consistent pattern. It definitely was not a balloon. It was low enough to see it with my naked eyes and my neighbor came out and by that time it was too far away for him to see. It appeared to go into the clouds from a distance. I got into my car to try and follow it but could not see it due to clouds. I felt amazed at what I saw, disappointed my neighbor could not see it, but my son saw it too.
And finally, a witness watched a bright white, circular object move at high speeds above Sommerville, Massachusetts, on April 16, 2009.
Massachusetts, April 16 - Bright white circular object moving at a very fast speed

I was taking a left onto Somerville Avenue in Somerville Massachusetts. While waiting for traffic to clear, I noticed a very bright white light moving very quickly at a low altitude. It's speed caught my attention immediately. It was in the western sky, heading north. I only saw this object for about 20 seconds until it disappeared due to its low position in the sky behind some buildings. I did not hear any sound however it may have been too far away to hear an audible sounds. While observing the object, it moved with a slight arc downwards toward the ground.

I checked the NASA website and confirmed the ISS was not visible at this time as I have seen the ISS before. However this object was far brighter than the ISS and moved much faster.

Typically, planes fly over this area from Logan after taking off heading east to west at a low altitude (Somerville is about 3 miles from Boston Logan). The direction this object was traveling was not a normal flight pattern for any commercial aircraft. On this night, the winds were calm and planes were not taking off over Somerville. I confirmed this on the Passur Airport tracker software on the Boston Logan Massport website. One aircraft at the time I witnessed the object was heading west near Somerville which is not the way I saw this object traveling. So whatever this object was, it did not appear on Boston's airport radar.

I hope this information helps and anyone else who saw the same object should be encouraged to report it as well.
Thank you.
There were three cases of cigar, or cylinder-shaped objects. First up is a Maryland case from April 18, 2009, where the object is further described as a "cigar or pancaked shape craft."
Maryland, April 18 - Erie and unexplainable.

1.) My wife, both kids and myself were heading down to the Baltimore aquarium leaving our house in Hagerstown roughly 6:15 am. We stopped for gas at the Sharpsburg exit sheetz prior to getting on the highway so the sighting probably happen closer to 6:30am. There was absolutely no clouds whatsoever in the visible sky during the time of the sighting or for most of the day for that matter. It was also fairly light out being peak sunrise.

2.) My son Lucas (almost 3yrs old) was the first to spot the object. He called out from the backseat "mommy look it's the moon". In reaction to our son my wife and I both looked over. I immediately saw the moon which appeared very clearly being there was no overcast. From my vantage point being the driver of the vehicle, this is all I was able to see. My wife however was in the passenger seat (the same side as our son) and could see the moon but also something else roughly 1/3 the size of the moon. At this time we were heading eastbound towards Baltimore/Frederick on US70 roughly half way between the Sharpsburg exit and route 40 Hagerstown exit. The moon was located at a position of roughly 2:00 in relation to our car (with directly in front of the car being 12:00) and about midway between the ground and directly above (approx. 45 deg) the object appeared at a position that was approx. 2:30 - 3:00 relative to our position just to the right of the moon but slightly lower in the sky. The object was close enough to the moon and being the only two visible objects in the sky at the time. We used the moon to approximate the size of the object to be roughly 1/3 the size visually than the moon.

3.) As I said before my wife was the first to get a solid look at it but she could not identify it as anything rational. She immediately said something to the effect of "look at that thing, that is the weirdest thing I've ever seen...what is it?" at which time I leaned over the steering wheel to see if I could spot it. What I saw I could not explain. First let me say I have had some limited flight time in addition to being a member of the Frederick chapter of civil air patrol as a teen so I have seen many planes in the sky at least enough so that I could identify conventional aircraft. So at my first glance the first thing that came to mind was a helicopter due to the shape and that's exactly what I said to my wife before leaning back. My wife however said "there is no way that's a helicopter" so I tried to get a better look. Upon further inspection I realized it was definitely not a helicopter. The shape at first appeared like a giant reddish orange pork chop (hence the helicopter connection) however I realized that the larger side which gave it the pork chop shape was actually light reflecting from the sunrise more so off one side then the other making the object appear larger on one side. It seemed to be a large cigar or pancaked shaped craft made of some highly reflective material.

4.) The object appeared stationary or moving very slowly the entire time of the sighting which only lasted about 10 min or so. The size and clarity of the object is what was so odd. My wife starred at it in amazement for a solid 7-8 mins increasingly getting more and more excited.

5.) At first our feelings were that of interest or confusion while we tried to make sense of what we were seeing. I thought maybe it was even the space station or satellite but it didn't move like that. My second thought was a star or planet as it was early morning and I have seen a planet increase in brightness before disappearing giving the illusion that something was moving. However upon closer inspection of the shape of the object this notion was quickly dismissed as it was to mis-shapen to be a point of light unless it was being refracted by something, which is still a possibility.

6.) At this point we were extremely exited knowing this was definitely out of the ordinary even if could be explained later by conventional means it was still something you don't see everyday. At this time we are convinced that this is something out of the ordinary and I immediately yelled to her to grab the camera. My wife went for our video camera which was on the floor between her legs next to our still camera (we were heading to the aquarium so we had both with us) This is were things got weird. My wife quickly pulled out the camera and turned it on (this entire process took maybe 10 - 15 seconds tops while she did so I leaned back into driving position losing site of the object) and that quick everything was gone. The only items left in view were the moon and some planes or jets way off to our left (on the opposite side of the car). We made no turns on this stretch of highway and at no time was our view obstructed. The object we observed was completely gone without a trace in less than 15 seconds time after almost 7-8 minutes of continuous observation. This left both of us in awe and completely dumbfounded.

If anyone has a explanation they can offer or would like to discuss our sighting further please feel free to contact us. My wife and myself will be happy to answer any questions regarding this in hopes to gain some answers.
In Alabama on April 17, 2009, a witness described an object 500 to 700 feet in the air, with a "blueish-whiteish" light, of a metallic gray color and looking more like a cylinder.
Alabama, April 17 - Moving from south to north about 500 to 700 feet off the ground and the same distance in front of us, single bluish/white light, metallic gray object.

My wife and I were heading home, east to west. She was driving and I was finishing a phone conversation when my wife slapped me on the arm and pointed to the sky ahead of us. I look and see a blueish/white light going from south to north , the sky still had enough twilight in it that we could see a dark grayish metallic cylinder object. The light was on the front of the object and no other light was visible from our view. I estimate it was about 500 to 700 feet off the ground and about the same distance in front of us moving 150 to 200 MPH. It was about 50 long and 5 to 8 foot thick. The treeline on either side of the road prevented us from seeing the object more than a few seconds, we looked for it after we cleared the trees but were unable to see it. My wife is a skeptic but she can't explain what we saw.
An object was described as pulsating red, blue, and white light, and looking cylindrical, over Washington on April 20, 2009.
Washington, April 20 - Red/Blue/White pulsating cylindrical/round object moving west, south-west & descending very slowly

At about roughly 10:15 p.m. Pacific Time I walked outside on my porch to have a smoke and was looking at the stars, which is something I do nightly, when I noticed what I first thought was a commercial airliner. As I watched I kept waiting for it to move and/or change course as they do as they fly over and near to my house. It was pulsating red, blue, and seemed as though it had a continuous white light.
It never moved. Or at least it looked VERY stationary. I could see it between two of my neighbors houses directly behind me to the West. I continued to watch for approximately 10 minutes when I decided to go inside to get my binoculars. I came back outside and it was still in the same spot.

I looked through the binoculars, (a very inexpensive set of Vivitar 7X50 297ft. at 1000 yards with coated optics), and could see the pulsating red, blue lights and again, what seemed like a continuous white light.

The white light could have been pulsating too, but it seemed as though it was not. I couldn't hold the binoculars still enough so I moved further back on my porch to one of the posts for the roof on the porch and steadied the binoculars against the post and just watched. As I was watching it I also noticed two other small lights that were close together, but to the lower right of the pulsating reb/blue orb, but they were at a downward angle, like this, /. They were also pulsating back and forth to each other. They seemed much further away from me as well as from the other larger orb.

I watched for a few more minutes and then decided to come inside to get on my computer to check the Mufon site for any recent sightings and descriptions in this area. I also wanted to see if I could figure out if it was a star, but I don't know the latitude/longitude. I was on my computer for about 10 minutes before going back outside to see if it was still there.

It was. But the two smaller lights were gone. I then called a friend of mine and his wife who are both interested in UFO's. He handed the phone to his wife and I began giving her a description of what I was seeing. They live in Bellevue. She went out onto her deck/patio to look in my direction to see if she could possibly see anything from her location. She said she could see a plane flying in my direction so I watched for the same plane and when it was within a count of 5 I counted down to one until it was directly "over" the orb so she could tell where I was looking. She said she could see it and that it was indeed pulsating red/blue/white.

As I was chatting with her about this object and helping her to find it in the sky, I looked back to the object and it had moved enough that I had to walk out into my driveway to the back of my car in order to see it.

It had moved North and West. While talking to her and looking through the binoculars, I kept having to take a step or two backwards every few minutes in order to be able to see it. I walked backwards far enough that I ended up crossing the sidewalk in front of my house and stepped into the street. It took about 10 minutes to get from the rear of my car to the street. By this point I could no longer move back without standing in the middle of my street, which is a busy road and there's a streetlight which made my viewing difficult. I continued talking to my friend on the phone about this possible sighting for about another 5 minutes, went back inside my house to set the binoculars down and went back outside. We talked a few more minutes and I wandered back to the driveway to see if the orb had returned or moved into sight again. I didn't see it at first, but when I began to walk back to the porch I spotted it. It had moved South. My neighbors house behind me is a 2 story with a small 3rd story addition which has a covered deck/porch. I spotted the orb through their 3rd story porch. I ran back inside and grabbed the binoculars again.

I watched it move VERY slowly to the South for about 5 more minutes until I couldn't see it because of trees and houses.

This orb/object pulsated red/blue/white the entire time, which is what made me, at first, think it was a commercial airliner. It seemed to be stationary for a VERY long time, roughly 20 minutes or more. When it DID move, it moved VERY slowly. It first went North and West and then South before I couldn't see it anymore.

It looked like it was probably over the Puget Sound.

I will be watching for it every time I go outside now.

I also noticed that someone else posted a sighting of a red/blue/white pulsating object in Arlington, Washington not too long ago. I wonder if I observed the same object?

I'm anxious to know what I was seeing and anxious to see it again.

I wanted to get in the car and drive in that direction for higher ground with less light, but my camera is broken and I know cell phone cameras don't work well with distant objects especially at night.

I will definitely keep my eyes to skies and will report any further sightings.
The next two cases I filed under Bright Lights, as the actual shape is hard to make out. The first case over Georgia on April 16, 2009, was described as an "iridescent fluid-like object."
Georgia, April 16- Iridescent fluid-like very large flying object.

I am a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, and received an email this morning from a viewer with pictures of a UFO, and the person asked what it was. When I viewed the pictures, it was very similar to an experience I had in April 2007 while I was working in downtown Atlanta one night. At that time, we had many calls to the TV station, witnessing the same object. It was very large, about the size of a C140 aircraft, made no noise, and was at an altitude of about 10,000 feet. It moved very fluid-like, and was iridescent in color. I tried to get a camera, but it had gone. Our viewer sent us this picture of the exact same thing seen in the skies, two years later. Do you have any idea what it is?
An Oklahoma witness, on April 21, 2009, first thought this object was a shooting star, until it stopped and made a turn.
Oklahoma, April 21- UFO shooting across sky and stopping and turning

My husband and I were heading east bound on N.W. 50th street by car. I noticed something that sounded like a flare being fired and looked up. The object I saw was blue and orange and was moving extremely fast but was at the same distance from me as a plane would be, I first thought it was a meteor until it stopped completely and then made a turn to the south. I was shocked, I am typically pretty skeptical of things like this, and wanted to disprove it in my mind, but I was unable to when it moved the way it did, I have never seen anything quite like it. I was shocked by it, and my husband just looked at me and said, I told you so, haha. I didn't see it again all morning even though I was out driving. I was able to prove it wasn't a meteor shower as we drove out to the country and were unable to see anything at all the resembled a meteor.
There were two cases of fireball-like objects. The first is a Texas case from April 20, 2009.
Texas, April 20- White ball of light w/yellow and black smoke.

I was on my way to meet a fellow associate from work. Sitting at a parking lot of a restaurant doing some paper work while sitting in my van. I glanced up and was looking at the sky .

I saw an object traveling at a 45 degree angle. Going from right to left, I thought it was a meteor, or a plane, I, don't know what to think. It was falling on the north central horizon, the object was far away but large. A plane far away does not look large. This object was glowing white like the arc of a welder. Like a star w/trails of yellow and black. During this sighting I glanced at my watch and it was exactly 06:45 a.m. The object was coming down fast and disappeared from my sight. I have been watching the news to see if anyone saw the same thing.
This second case was reported from New Mexico on April 20, 2009, and described as an "orange fireball."
New Mexico, April 20- Orange Fireball Traveling Northbound Over Las Cruces

My wife and I were out exercising near our home in the northern part of Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was jogging and I was on the bicycle. We were on a road (Settlers Pass) heading eastbound when I saw an orange fireball in the southern sky. At first I didn't know if what I saw was a street light or a helicopter with a spotlight in our direction or maybe a meteor. As I slowed down the bicycle I briefly lost view of the fireball behind a house. I wanted to make sure what I saw so as I kept rolling east I saw the object again and it was flying northbound towards our direction. I was surprised that it did not have any blinking lights like all the other aircraft that I see fly over. I told my wife about it, she had already finished her jog before me spotting the fireball and was walking to cool down. She thought it was strange too. It flew almost directly over us, just a little to our east as it kept going north. It moved the same speed as any other aircraft that I have seen. By the time that it was some 2 or so miles north of us, it must have sped up because the light got small really fast and eventually we could not see it anymore. I wondered if anyone saw it. I did not report it to the police because they probably can't do anything about it. I don't know if this was an extraterrestrial craft but if it was all I have is two eye witnesses. With no visual proof I was not too excited to share this with too many people, but I thought I should tell someone or at least log it down for myself.
This final report has no lights attached to it, and no specific shape - from Oregon on April 19, 2009 - a silent craft that blocked out the stars, a frequent report element, and about 500 feet in the air and appearing to be about 250 across.
Oregon, April 19- No lights and silent, blocking out stars and possible reflection from street lights

I was out in my usual atar observation site. I am an amateur astronomer with military aircraft observation training. I heard a bird in my neighbors yard, it sounded startled. I looked up in that direction expecting a flock of geese. They are noisy and you can hear them honking at a quarter mile and at even at a thousand feet you can sometimes hear them flapping their wings. I heard nothing and from the time that I noticed and paid attention I counted nine seconds. In about the third second it was directly overhead. It seemed to reflect light from the neighborhood street lights for 2 seconds. After that I was able to follow it because it blocked stars, of which I am well familiar. The object did not accelerate or change course, east to west. As I had no direct reference to size I can only speculate that if it was at 500 feet it would have been 125 feet across I am not saying that I saw aliens, but would sure like to know ---what the hay? I am willing to talk about this and other events that I have trust in the sources, local to my sight. Call me.
