LAURA KNIGHT-JADCZYK AND JOE QUINN
Since the 9/11 attacks, no book has provided a satisfactory answer as to WHY the attacks occurred and who was ultimately responsible for carrying them out - until now.

Spaceweather comes in handy for other things too. At the bottom of the page they carry a cute little section called, "Near-Earth Asteroids".
It's a list of space rocks that get too close for human comfort. On January 17 (January 18 really) 1998 CS1 got within 11 Lunar Distances to earth. It was 1.3 km in size.
Same time this fireball landed in Sweden. Is it just me or is anyone else seeing a pattern develop here...?
How can we be sure that these larger bodies travel alone? Is it possible that a large debris field travels along with these types of asteroids?
To be really sure, one would need to monitor the news and see if more fireballs tend appear around the time of the "close encounters".
Perhaps, those larger-sized chunks should be monitored very closely. Even if the approach is at a seemingly large distance.
Comment: Readers from Germany and the Netherlands at this link have also reported seeing the meteorite, which suggests that this was a fairly large "space rock". Keep watching the skies, 2009 may well turn out to be a "smashing" year...
