I looked up the word "psychopath" just to be sure my notions of it were clear for the purpose of this conversation, and I would suggest others do as well.

As doctors routinely are allowed to operate above the law, and psychologists in particular routinely operate beyond the realms of science, rarely being required to offer physical proof of anything, and instead offer opinion and expert conjecture that is legally binding in courts of law, at least here in the USA, I'm sure an intelligent person will find the common definition of psychopathy (ASPD) very problematic and dangerous, just on the surface.

I think it's a poorly constructed term, easily abused (especially by "psychopaths" with lanyards), as is the entire field of psychology. I do think this practice needs more rigor in it's terminology, and more restrictions on it's use and authority over the public. The industry is abusing the public in a grotesque and obscene manner and needs more accountability, and a more narrow scope of authority.

I applaud these gentlemen for their efforts to define the practice of psychology more acutely, and look forward to the day when psychology isn't riddled with quacks. It is a very interesting field of research, and I hope one day it is more helpful and less abusive and dangerous than it is today.

hkoehli There were two qualifiers for the conditions of psychopathy that I took particular issue with when looking up the term, and that was; "Behavior that conflicts with societal norms" and also "A disregard for the law."

I don't think I need to explain why "behavior that conflicts with societal norms" is problematic, but in regards to having a "disregard for the law," this sounds like imperialism being injected into medicine to me.

These qualifiers were repeated at various web sites that described the unofficial diagnosis of psychopathy, or their preferred term; antisocial personality disorder (ASPD).

However, I was not being directed to the PCL-R by my clearly misguided search engine, and I do find those qualifiers more rigorous than what the internet seems to want me to see, for whatever reason.

I'll post the list just so nobody else is confused, like I was, or would like to ponder the point items themselves.

The internet seems to want to direct me to something more sensational and vague, and in my view potentially dangerous and political, rather than mentioning the PCL-R, so I appreciate the clarification.

My real issue is with the authority of psychology within the judicial system. With terminology that is often so poorly defined, and subject to personal interpretations, I don't think it meets the criteria necessary to make proper judgments in a court of law. The veracity of the science is debatable, and physical proof is rarely required as evidence in court, if ever. Nor does any physical evidence need to be produced to determine a diagnosis in private. They don't even run blood tests or urinalysis before prescribing powerful, dangerous, addictive, and debilitating drugs to the public. I don't think a check list is sufficient.

Even though it’s commonly used to describe someone who has a mental health condition, “psychopath” is not an official diagnosis. One of the criticisms of academic work, is that it is becomes a silo or specialty, and that it usually does not connect with other silos, and therefore the holistic understanding of issues like psychopathology does not develop. This is how secrecy in any area is maintained, people only work on a small piece of the puzzle without seeing the whole. It is the reason most people do not make connections, because their own career is a silo that keeps them focused on matters concerning it only. Education itself encourages focusing on one talent, not all talents.

There tends to be a distinction between sociopaths and psychopaths for this reason. Sociopaths are 'made.' Their adoption of extreme selfishness and aggression is a survival skillset developed as a result of the emotional/physical abuse or harsh circumstances they've suffered. They've either learned to bury their vulnerabilities so deeply that they may not even realize they have them, or rigidly compartmentalize the circumstances in which they allow themselves to experience emotion and relationship. I'm reminded of the mafia dons in The Godfather, the abusive and coldblooded murders who are very protective of and loving toward the women and children in their own families. By contrast, psychopaths inherently and constitutionally lack any social conscience, empathy, or emotional vulnerability.

My wife and son both very much have these traits. What they tend to do is allow the community narrative (established norms) fill up those voids and just parrot back whatever they think the listener needs to hear. They are both very popular, well admired, and accepted by the world at large, which I am always taken back by.

Neither of them seem to like me very much. Which I guess makes sense, because I am perhaps over-concerned about social conscience, empathy, and emotional vulnerabilities, and like to discuss these issues in detail, which is why I'm here soliciting SOTT readers for perspectives and not talking to them.

Having conversations with my wife has actually proved to be dangerous for myself and for my disabled daughter, and so I avoid it. I still like to probe my son's mind for consciousness, but I usually find it sort of empty and devoid of any empathy, social awareness, independent thought, or interests in anything at all. He seems to be able to fake it a little while I'm pressing for it, but will never peruse introspection on his own. This kid has literally never asked me a question in his entire life. Not kidding, not exaggerating. My wife only asks mundane questions, like what time is it, or do you need anything from the store, which is actually a question about the status of our domestic inventory, and not about me at all.

My son is an actor and a beloved member of a theater group, does choir, and music, but doesn't seem to have a deeper interest in these things like you might expect from an artist. I've tried to discuss the motivations of actors and the hidden plots in movies and theater, the emotional inflection of musical expression and singing, but none of it seems to ever be reciprocated by him or provocative to him. He's like talking to the wall when I start in on these things. And, despite his apparent expertise in music, theater, and choir, he never pursues any of these things at home. He doesn't sing around the house, pick up his bass or any instrument and just play for fun or to be creative, or even watch movies. He's boring as hell, frankly, and so is my wife.

My daughter, on the other hand is completely the opposite, always singing and dancing, making jokes, playing her recorder, and pretending to be a Jedi, and carries on with her dolls dramatic narratives of adventure, rescue, and salvation...and she's the one with a "disability." She's adorable, but the other two are like cardboard people, fashioned after the world, like doppelgangers, and I think strangely popular people among the many institutions they are involved in.

Poltergeist What an amazing and disturbing dynamic you deal with. Are your wife and son more schizoidal or do they have predatory tendencies? Whatever the circumstances, you obviously have reconciled yourself to them and cope with them, but I do tend to wonder about your daughter. How old is she? Does her disability have emotional/mental components? If so, does her mother and brother's inability to relate warmly to her figure in to her issues? If so, it seems to me that it might be important to get her out of that environment. It's good that she has you as a dual mother and father figure, but emotional rejection from a parent creates lasting scars in terms of a healthy self-image and ability to set boundaries. I know. I experienced that myself. My best wishes to you!

Poltergeist I found your personal experience with your family situation most interesting. and made me think. True psychopathy has been thought as a genetic disorder. But strangely we read or hear about children, that have been born, into normal loving families. Only to discover that one of their children, has developed into what would maybe we could consider a monster, regarding behavior and thought.

Could it be your son has become more in tuned with the present day thought process and ideology of the day, you mention he works in the entertainment industry (actors, in name and word). He has forgotten his own being, or potential.

Then again, it also made me think about, and here again, I am not talking about your family circumstances, just the what has been discussed in the video, that their is an aberration in the development of the amygdala, which can be demonstrated by various scans of the brain.

Could this also be demonstrated as transcription error in the DNA blueprint at the time of conception. Seems strange that all of a sudden, a child born into a loving caring family, is devoid of feeling and empathy for another.

If there was such a thing as a simple blood test, I suspect it would not be available for use to the general public.

I think their primary pursuits in life are the accolades of others. My wife wants to be admired as a wonderful soccer mom, and my son is consumed with pleasing his mother, doing her bidding, constantly surveilled and tracked by her. He is so busy running about and satisfying various academic requirements established by his mother that I've hardly had a relationship with him at all. She will even physically separate us and interrupt and discontinue conversations we might be engaged in like she's jealous.

I home-schooled him from 3rd through 4th grade because he was falling behind, and they were dropping the ball in the public school system, and then set him loose on the public school again after two years, and he has dominated that realm ever since...and she took over, and I haven't seen much of him since, even though we live in the same house. He is always at practice, school, running errands for her, performing on stage, or something, since he turned sixteen, especially.

How old is she? Does her disability have emotional/mental components? If so, does her mother and brother's inability to relate warmly to her figure in to her issues?

She is about to turn sixteen and has Down syndrome. Because she is difficult(ish), I tend to be her sole care giver, with her at my side nearly constantly, while my wife runs about with the golden-child who is much easier to deal with. When my wife is at home she is more like furniture than a parent or wife, and I leave her be.

My wife does take her out, more now that shes more capable, to events like Special Olympics, or dance classes, where my daughter performs and my wife can again get all the back-patting and accolades for "what a wonderful job you are doing as a parent," even though in those situations somebody else is hired to do the actual work, like a dance instructor or physical therapist. She's essentially a glorified Taxi service.

But, anytime she has to do any hands on interaction with my daughter it can be violent at worst, and argumentative typically. I don't allow that to happen, and try to get there first, like with combing her hair, brushing her teeth or bathing, etc. I do that, so as to avoid the conflict. If my wife has to do it it is always clumsy and insensitive, and when my daughter was younger and less able, it could frustrate my wife to the point of violence. She busted a wooden spoon on her ass, leaving splinters in her skin, and a little bleeding once for wetting her pants I think. That was the worst of it.

She just denied it in court, as well as her punching me in the head for interrupting her abuse of my then infant son, and I was framed as the bad guy, so I don't bother confronting the issue that way (legally) anymore. I can't. She's viewed by the public as a spectacular parent and wonderful soccer mom, while I am seen as an ant-social deviant, and stay-at-home parasite. It's not even a contest...it is what it is.

My daughter doesn't experience that, and the social interaction they do have is like that of a precious bobble. My wife loves having a disabled child to flaunt in public and to gather sympathy from. Also, My daughter is so amazingly beautiful and lovable in most every way that it's hard to have another reaction to her except to smile...as long as scrapping her crap off the walls, or contending with her diet, washing her hair, brushing her teeth, clipping her fingernails, etc. isn't a part of that relationship. So, my wife isn't pushed into those difficult areas and can simply enjoy having a bubbly, lovable, clever and humorous child to enjoy, and she visibly does. My daughter is extremely charismatic, bright and friendly. She can literally make people smile at a funeral. I've seen it happen.

I love the hell out of her. She's easily, by leaps and bounds, the best person I have ever met...which is why I'm still here...at this point I really don't have any other options.

Poltergeist I know that's way too much information, but whatever. I feel like I need to add, It's not always that bad, but when it sucks that is why it sucks, and those are the dynamics. I think stress and maturity plays a role, we've all been through the wringer, and have that one wobbly wheel. When stress and calamity raises it's head, these are our corners; psychosis.

So, that's just what's wrong with our family at it's worst, when it's rough, but we've been at it for nearly 20 years now, and I think we've all made progress in these areas. Yes, were nuts, but we're managing pretty well, considering the circumstances...and there are circumstances...which would take another five or six paragraphs to even touch on.

I think everybody is crazy, and actually mentally deformed people are probably extremely rare. What I recon is going on is simply trauma and stress, right? It's a damned toxic world. You can't toss a healthy fish in a sewer and expect it to swim straight for long.

I think if you went down the list on the PCL-R items, you'd find that most of these behaviors are common coping mechanisms that we all use to some degree (0-3?). It's when you get dropped into an unnatural environment you aren't designed to function in, that these traits begin to become more extreme, pronounced, and problematic. Warped.

I know people are messed up sometimes, but look around. What do you expect? It's no wonder people are "anti-social."

I realize doctors have to address patients as individuals, but I think the rest of us, if we want this to go away, need to focus on the environment.

I'd like to hold psychology to a higher standard of accountability, and terminology, which is what I suppose these men are trying to do (define terminology), and then for the rest of us, to build a better environment for them to work in. They can't just keep trying to fix these people, and then release them back into shitholes like Chicago and San Francisco. All they seem to be able to do is submerge their minds with drugs so they don't feel so bad about where they are. I don't think we need them for that, and I don't know if it helps.

I think it's out of control now too, and the entire industry needs to slam on the brakes. They're mutilating our children. But, what were we doing about it, to help the situation, before it was a situation? Mostly nothing. I know. I was there. I've seen it myself.

We out here, are creating this incredibly sick environment. Porn, ugly architecture, long hours and crummy jobs, garbage music and entertainment, mass censorship, poison water, fake news,bonus-holes, and naked gay men on bicycles parading down the street? WTF? How hasn't one of those guys had their jaw busted?

I know people don't like "toxic masculinity" and there is ridiculous idea going around that "violence doesn't solve anything," but where the hell is dad? I'm not saying a hammer is the right tool for every job, but a lot of us probably ought to be very ashamed of standing there doing nothing, or going along with it...and moms, you look stupid, hiding behind the government, smiling about it, and encouraging it.

parzival - I'm pretty sure the tornado happened and the place was damaged significantly and all the product in storage damaged beyond repair. How ironic . I wonder if that phizer place has good insurance for tornadic activity but it probably doesn't matter if they do or not because I'm not sure there is enough insurance in the world to payout the damages when phizer gets justice due. Dwoods44 - I think Ippenheimer effing Oppenheimer what's his name was harmful to humanity. I could give a flip what is projected out cause who care about another's narrative. Dwoods44 - I just gave away the biggest one left that we had picked to my daughter. So now I have 2 or 3 big ones left along with a yellow squash and a green tomato we picked that was gonna rot if we left it. This is what I'm going to do:

1. Cut everything into smaller pieces - probably mostly cubes....

2. Put it all in a large container and add some ice, sea salt, and water and let it sit for awhile.

3. After an hour or so or a few days maybe in the fridge, drain out the excess liquid.

4. Add some apple cider vinegar we happen to have with mother on the bottom, brown sugar maybe, and some freshly cut peppers.

5. Cover everything up and wait for the presser to arrive.

And that people under the age of 18 get half as much exercise as the same age group 10 years ago? These are more likely the cause of young people suddenly dropping.

A schedule should be set for a global television audience to wager and then watch.

One by one each guilty individual should be strapped to a chair clockwork-orange style before live cameras. A spotlight shone on their guilty smug mug.

At intervals of ten minutes, they should be injected with “Covid Vaccines” from the same batches responsible for millions of maimings and deaths.

The public can place bets as to which five-minute time slot will result in the guilty individual’s expiration from sudden climate change. Side bets can also be placed as to when a mac address appears on a nearby computer, and whether they expire from cardiac arrest, pulmonary embolism, or if they get Bell’s Palsy first before expiring.

Quinnellas, trifectas, and superfectas would be accepted.

On Gates, I want five bucks on Bell’s palsy at the forty-minute mark, with cardiac arrest at the hour mark after the sixth shot.
