Some reports of red sky during the quake (electric universe phenomenon?).
Initial coastal evacuation alert was quickly cancelled. Same old same old for Chile, large temblor, hardly any damage, no deaths and after initial media reaction, life quickly returns to normal.
No loss of services where I am but reports of electrical outages in areas closer to the quake.
FYI, this was a large "temblor", a "terremoto" in Chile would be a lot stronger and involve widespread service outage, significant property damage and deaths (think, minimum 8.0 R).
Wonder what the Haitian immigrants here are thinking as this was the same magnitude that floored their country back in 2010.
If this is leading to the three hundred year offshore Valparaiso (9+) megaquake, then you may not be hearing from me again if that one occurs.
