To be clear, because ISIS and Al-Nusra control such a larger portion of Syria, the ceasefire only applies to small (but critical) conflict zones. The areas affected by the ceasefire are in blue:A fragile, temporary and partial cessation of hostilities has come into force in Syria after 97 fighting groups, as well as the Syrian government and Russian air force, signed up to a ceasefire.A monitoring group said early on Saturday that fighting appeared to have stopped across most of western Syria

just occurred to me. If Turkey would agree to cede the land strip that projects into Syria along side the Med that would then reduce the border by over 75% then Syria could cede the Israel-invaded highlands that feed the Jordan River and everybody would come out a winner.
Israel would have the headwaters it covets, and Syria would have a straight border running from the upper edge of Syria's border directly west to the Med sea reducing the influx of outside sponsored combatants.
It would seem this land sway is in the best interests of all 4 countries.
As a matter of fact, I dont see why this isnt an option instead of war to settle the same issue. Isnt this what the UN is for? Everyone recognizes this is the defacto outcome of war so why not dispense with making the arms producers more wealthy and stop using vital metal resources just to be blown to bits and come to an agreement that benefits all parties?
We baaa and mooo about the waste of non renewable resources but continue to use our future generations assest. Lets stop.
