Re Sharks, I once saw a 9 ft. + Mako Shark come 'say hello' / investigate us at Cape Hatteras, N.C, circa 1979.
As we were waiting for a set, out in the lineup, we came up to the crest of a non breaking wave and saw a razor sharp-looking blue and black fin about 200 yards out from us. Beautiful, but SCARY.
As we sank down as that swell passed us, we spoke of whether we should leave the water. Ten to twelve seconds later, as we rose with the next swell, there in the valley below us, that shark was 40 feet away..
We decided to leave the water at that point.,
