Pack of coyotes chases man and dog through Burbank neighborhood, California

Nick Mendoza of Burbank, Calif., was chased by a pack of coyotes as he returned home from walking his dog. Mendoza knew that coyotes regularly prowl his neighborhood, but they had never actively stalked him before.

After getting his dog inside safely, Mendoza grabbed a shovel and tried to scare off the pack. He also tried throwing lemons at the coyotes. He was finally able to scare off the pack by driving down the street in his car with the high beams on. The incident was captured on a security camera outside of his home.

hmmm.

Remember running those hills and seeing one or two, but they would eventually scamper off... but it wasn't that dry when I lived out there.... and development has continued apace without abatement.... putting a squeeze on them.

Good interview with that guy. I wonder how the zoo nearby might factor in?

Perhaps he wanted to avoid the notice of law enforcement by using firearms? It seems that taking on a pack of coyotes with a shovel and some lemons, might in some instances be safer?

Of course you are right Ruth, it is just the absurd vision of fighting attacking wild animals with fruit that erupts that dark
comic "funny-bone" in me. "Only in California" because in most places in the USA, one would have to go to the refrigerator
to find lemons, and at nearly a dollar apiece most people don't have enough stockpiled to do the job. We are left to assume he has a lemon tree in his yard . . .
