Two sets of body parts have been found in two days on Long Island.

In the most recent incident, a man found a severed arm on his front lawn on Webb Ave. in Hempstead on Wednesday at about 2 p.m. The home owner, speaking for his brother-in-law who spotted the arm, said he smelled a foul odor earlier in the day but thought it was garbage. "When he saw the arm ... he almost passed out," said Jose Diaz. The arm appeared to belong to a female and was severed from the shoulder, said police.

A day earlier, two people walking through a parking lot in Bay Shore spotted the partially dismembered body of a woman at about 6:50 a.m. The body, which has not been identified, was taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office.

Police departments for both Suffolk County and Nassau County are looking into whether there is any connection between the findings. They're also trying to determine if the discoveries have anything to do with the Gilgo Beach serial killer. 10 sets of human remains were found in in Gilgo Beach in 2011.

Suffolk County police are asking anyone with information about the bodies contact the Homicide Squad or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
