It was the murder of RFK which brought the end, although it was withering as the Vietnam War wore on. The ones who saw through the illusion were the "back to the land" hippies, determined to drop out of the system.
Now we have the internet, am emormous improvement over the "Berkeley Barb" or any other such underground news source from the 60's. Same story, easier to access. We are slaves to the system. "Tune in, turn on, drop out" for we all live in a yellow submarine. Got garden? Water? Secure community of like minded friends and neighbors? Common-unity...the people together, whether rural or in a city are capable of common self interest. We really can do without career politicians and central banks.
