The WHO has stated that mobile/cell phones are an increased cancer risk.
"A team of 31 scientists from 14 countries, including the United States, made the decision after reviewing peer-reviewed studies on cell phone safety. The team found enough evidence to categorize personal exposure as "possibly carcinogenic to humans."So what is interesting about that?
The above conclusion was reached after a large study, but what's more important is that that study is backed by laboratory experimentation.
Compare that with the 'risks' posed by smoking - many 'studies' which are not peer reviewed and laboratory experiments that have singularly failed to prove anything.
Compare also the attitude of the WHO - it warns phone users that there may be a risk, but has declared an all out war on smoking.
If the WHO was consistent it would have to start a movement banning all mobile/cell phones. Everything points to the phones being more hazardous than smoking but the WHO does nothing. Is that not strange?
Even worse, phones can legally be used by children of any age, and the younger they are, the greater the damage, so there should be an international outcry.
But there isn't.
There are two possible reasons I can think of that would cause this inconsistency -
- The proportion of phone users in the population is much higher, therefore the WHO knows damned well that there would be a massive outcry.
- There is nothing in it for the pharmaceutical companies, as there is no 'withdrawal medication' for phone users, whereas the phone companies can have massive financial clout.
if used excessively. I have 2 HTC's smartphones but I seldom use them, only if I have to. One virtually for just making few-second calls. And the other I use mainly as a database (with electronic protection paid for, learned that lesson well) since it contains personal data, codes and numbers. I say again they have very powerfull transmitters/receivers. If there's something that can drive you really crazy is an extremely powerfull magnetic field near your head all the time but even that loses it's power when you are away from it. Laura tell Ark to give you the equation. Don't wanna tire the readers more.
