A second low flying UFO report from March 4 is coming out of this Blair County town. Two silent rectangular-shaped objects were described as "massive" as they flew over the witnesses' home.

Hollidaysburg has a population just over 5,000, seven miles south of Altoona. The famous toy known as the Slinkyยฎ is manufactured within Hollidaysburg by Poof-Slinky, Inc.

We reported here yesterday that three V-shaped UFOs moved low and silently over Doylestown, Bucks County, east of this area. In Boston, Massachusetts, also on March 4, a witness reports seeing a "silver boomerang object" hovering above. There appears to be an increase in low flying UFO sightings recently, with reports coming in from around the country. Ufologist Stan Gordon comments below.

The following unedited report was filed with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database. The Massachusetts report follows.

Pennsylvania, March 4, 2009 - long rectangle row of red and white lights on 2 craft

I was letting the cat in and saw 2 very bright lights, one in front of the other flying toward me. They were going the same speed and rather slow so I thought they were connected and if they were this thing was massive. At the same time both lights turned into 2 lights, it was getting closer and closer. I yelled for my daughter to wake up, she grumpily came to look. We watched the first one fly past and behind the house but the second one turned on 4 more lights totaling 6 horizontal lights. Awestruck we watched this thing turn completely right on a dime, it was now traveling right towards us over head. All 6 lights then turned red. We watched as 5 red lights on a long rectangular shape thing fly overhead. I could make out a rectangle shape due to the illumination of the red lights. The speed was quite slow. After it flew over our heads I watched this massive rectangular strip of red lights fly over the nearby mountain. It was incredible. There was no noise at all. It was about 15 degrees crystal clear sky moon was crescent and behind the house. This thing came from the south east. What the hell were these craft.

Massachusetts - March 4, 2009 - Silver boomerang object, slightly shiny on right side, hovering high in the sky west of Cambridge, MA

I had just exited the T in Harvard Square, and turned the corner on to Mt. Auburn St., when a shine caught my eye. I looked up, and saw what looked like a silver boomerang totally still, high up in the sky. I blinked because I thought my eyes were blurry, then turned around and saw the moon and a star (below it) very clearly...I turned back around, and the object was still there. It stayed completely still, and was shinier on the right side than the left. An airplane came from behind where I was standing, and flew low and beneath it, and I slowly realized my eyes were not playing tricks on me...the object was absolutely still and remained in the exact spot, with a slight haze around it.

At first, I thought it was my eyes that were blurry and I simply didn't believe what I was seeing. I turned around, checked my eyes, and returned to still see it, and stared in disbelief. I felt scared, overwhelmed and sad all at once.

I thought I should call someone or grab a stranger and point it out, but it took me telling someone else about it to begin to realize how real it was. It took hours for the event to actually sink in, and it feels unreal.

I drew a picture...I wish I could've captured it on film. I actually can't do justice to how I feel right now...I had to search for somewhere to tell someone, and found this site.

After probably a minute and a half, I turned the corner to my apartment, and when I looked back to check and see if it was still there, it was gone. It was there, then it disappeared. This happened at twilight, a quarter to 6pm, in a clear, cloudless sky.

Comments from Ufologist Stan Gordon:
Roger Marsh has recently been reporting on some detailed UFO observations from around the country, as well as here in Pennsylvania. As I had previously written, there were strange incidents of various types reported from 50 counties across the Keystone State during 2008. The majority of the reports concerned alleged UFO sightings.

This year, the PA MUFON, National UFO Reporting Center, and my PA UFO Hotline continue to receive sighting reports. Triangular shaped objects are commonly being reported, but other aerial anomalies of various sizes and shapes are being observed as well.

What is interesting is that some of the UFO incidents I have reported on in recent months have been relatively close range, detailed observations of objects which aren't easily explained away. There was the October 31, 2008, report in Mount Pleasant Township, where a 10-12 foot bright white ball of light, which was very low off the ground, passed within 5 to 6 feet from a moving vehicle.

Another incident occurred on January 3, 2009. This was an afternoon observation near Bovard, in Westmoreland County, of a metallic cylindrical object which appeared low in the sky. The object seemed to change shape as it flipped upwards, then in an odd backwards J-shape motion, accelerated into the sky and moved off.

On February 5, 2009, a witness observed something odd near Fleetwood in Berks County. What was observed that evening was a bright yellowish-white, star-like object which suddenly shot down towards the ground. The object stopped suddenly about 20 feet above the terrain, then hovered. Moments later, the object moved off to the right, and streaked across the sky and was soon out of sight.

When I was investigating UFO incidents during the1960's-1980's, there were numerous low level and detailed UFO observations reported and investigated. But in more recent years, those close encounter UFO incidents have decreased in numbers. There continue to be many UFO observations of high altitude maneuvering lights in the sky.

It's interesting to see this possible increase in close range UFO encounters. While such sightings sound initially interesting, MUFON and other investigators will continue to investigate these reports in an attempt to find an answer as to what is being reported.

Comments from PA MUFON Director John Ventre
From June through December of 2008 we had an increase in UFO sightings from 45 to 225. Many were similar low flying triangular objects. This is very similar to the sightings that occurred last June and July over Doylestown. I am still working on radar that was obtained from that sighting.
