MTV' will stop broadcasting as its license expired this summer after 15 years, but it's not the famous music channel experiencing problems. 'Malovereiskoe TV', a small broadcasting station in the heart of a Russian region. Its programming was mainly farming and local gossip and it only had around 600 viewers, but in terms of local TV it was a ratings success.

'MTV' might not be quite what you expect from a TV station - it's tiny and the equipment is minimal. Run by flagship presenter Tatiana and cameraman Sergey, the station has been broadcasting to around 600 farmers and villagers in the nearby area for 15 years, serving a valuable purpose.

"For a small village like this one, television is fantastic! It covers all aspects of local life. It is for each person living here like a window to the world," Tatyana said.

And the station isn't just bound to the studio - it gets up close to give an in-depth account of what's happening in the village, which is a small farm community originally set up in the times of the Soviet Union.

But it all changed in the summer of this year, when the service came to an abrupt end. Villagers want it back, but funding is the problem. The money is needed to make sure the station meets technical standards set by Moscow, but with a lack of resources the future doesn't look bright.

Moscow says it hasn't heard any complaints from the station, but if the mood of the locals is anything to go by, it will soon.

Villagers say they're very upset, feeling as if some aspect of their local life has vanished. They were happy to have local news broadcasts, and say they're now looking for a sponsor for the station.
