The problem is that so very, very few 'Americans' pay attention to foreign policy and all it's conjoined twins, they only pay attention to their own lives. The pocketbook issues. So even the entire effort of their mainstream media seems for naught as "It's the Economy Stupid!" That's about the only fear factor most in the USA feel. They have little to no emotional attachment to all the rest and they hard notice it's occurrance. The TSA issue of Rand Paul could get a lot more attention especially as the election farce runs up its flag for the finale. It seems to me that the PTB need to 'pull the rug out' to kick in this fear factor, otherwise their party will fizzle out and leave their own masters none too pleased. As the late '08 scenario showed us, the money market pullouts are the area to watch as the program trading that now makes up ~80% of the daily trading can act in the same manner within a few short hours, leading to the need to utilize that grand strategy of another 'bank holiday' as used 80 years ago. Good thing Corazine helped Obama and crew plan that out at the time. We are prepared it seems, at least on that front. But that alone will only result in short term 'shock and awe', so the entire 'pullout' of policy will be needed to get that fear factor back on track for the final curtain call. Let's hope they put on a good show.
