" Covering up what would damage the already tarnished reputation of the Brithish and American Intellegence Secret Services"
British Intellegence intecepted a communique from the Libyan Embasy to Libya the day before, listing 3 options...
1. Do nothing
2. See some of the dissidents
3. Shoot them
I guess British Intelligence opted for their own first option, as they did not pass this information on to the police. And a police woman was shot - but NOT with any weapon in the hands of a Libyan currently occupying the embassy, but by a hand gun smuggled in from Germany's underworld to support the anti-Gaddafi organisation "Al Burkan". Their point of contact was a Rageb Zatout. He is/was a CIA asset who is currently living in the USA.
In the mid to late '80s, America wanted to get its hands on Libyan oil and everytime they spoke to the British about Libyan terrorism ... "their eyes would glaze over" as the British were doing lots of business with the Libyans. So, consequently international public opinion (in particular Britain's) needed to be changed towards Libya. Commencing with the shooting of Yvonne Fletcher and then the bombing of Pan Am flight 103. Looks like nothing really changes, does it? No doubt, the Americans will want to install some sort of puppet government, now, so they can gain access to all Libya's resources.
