Saw similar ball of fire just off the coast in North Cyprus last night.
The image shown above is exactly what I and a friend saw whilst sitting outside late last night. It too was travelling very fast and very very bright. Much larger than a jumbo jet. This one was travelling towards the sea (so I suspected it to be a comet or meteorite but no apparant tail) and was so bright in the clear night sky. What was strange was I was expecting it to hit the sea at such speed however it completely disappeared before getting to the sea! No explosion nothing nor expected disintegration.
The other unusual thing was the Moon. It was nearly a half moon but it was a lemon colour then within half an hour it turned bright orange and disappeared below the horizon. I have never seen it those colours before.
