A Bucks County Pennsylvania police officer stepped out of his patrol car August 6, 2010, at 5 a.m. after an "extremely bright light" in the sky caught his attention, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The officer, who prefers to remain anonymous due to his position, reports watching the stationary light for 30 seconds before anything happened.

"The light then dimmed and began to travel south at a high rate of speed and disappeared (or my eyes couldn't focus on the dim light anymore)," the officer stated.

When the object was first spotted, it appeared brighter than any other star or planet in the sky, the witness stated, "like a helicopter spot light."

The entire event last between "30-45 seconds under mostly clear skies."

Speculating, the officer wondered if it might have been a satellite.

"I was under the assumption they only move east to west. I do see a lot of 'shooting stars' since I work only nights, but have never seen anything of this nature. I have also caught brief glimpses of satellites but never anything this bright and not moving for a period of time."

Pennsylvania, August 6, 2010 - Extremely bright light not moving in sky - dimmed and flew away. MUFON Case # 24972.

I am a police officer in Bucks County Pennsylvania and while on patrol at 0500hrs i noted an extremely bright light in the sky.

I exited my patrol vehicle and watched the light (not moving) for approximately 30 seconds. The light then dimmed and began to travel south at a high rate of speed and disappeared (or my eyes couldn't focus on the dim light anymore).

When it dimmed it appeared like a tiny star in the sky.

When I exited my vehicle the light was brighter than any of the stars/planets in the sky and appeared like a helicopter spot light. The event lasted 30-45 seconds under mostly clear skies.

Possible satellite? I was under the assumption they only move east to west. I do see a lot of "shooting stars" since I work only nights, but have never seen anything of this nature. I have also caught brief glimpses of satellites but never anything this bright and not moving for a period of time.

I must remain anonymous due to my job.
