Four more persons, including a woman, died of nipping cold overnight, taking the toll of cold-related deaths in Uttar Pradesh to 18.

According to reports, three people died of cold in Saraikhawaja and Nevriya areas of Jaunpur district in the last 24 hours.

Earlier, two more persons died of chilly weather in Jaunpur district.

As per reports from Bijnore, a woman died due to cold during bonfire arrangement in Tikkopur village today.

UP Meteorological department said Shahjahanpur remained the coldest place in the state at 2 degrees celsius.

Weather has been dry in all divisions of the state. Night temperature changed a little in all divisions. They were markedly below normal in Gorakhpur division, appreciably below normal in Varanasi, Faizabad, Bareilly and Meerut divisions, below normal in Lucknow and Agra divisions and normal elsewhere.

In the last 24 hours, Gorakhpur recorded 4.8, Varanasi 7.9, Bahraich 7.5, Lucknow 4.6, Kanpur 5.7, Allahabad 9.9, Bareilly 6.4, Meerut 2.6 degrees.

The weather office has forecast a dry weather in all divisions of the state during the next 24 hours.
