UFO was spotted by a man and his son from Wedmore.

Wessex Purchase saw a strange collective of orange lights on his way to pick up his son from a party in Cheddar.

The 51-year old pulled his car over just before 12 midnight on May 23 in Clewer as he was dumbfounded by the dazzling object.

He said: "There was a stack of four or five orange lights over the Channel, towards Cardiff, and they looked quite low down.

"They started off as diamond shaped but then rapidly formed a stack before completely disappearing.

"There is no way a plane could move that fast.

"I had to stop the car and call my son to get him to look out the window.

"He too said what the heck is that and we were both completely puzzled."

Mr Purchase said there was also a lot of telephone interference which he had not experienced before.

He added: "There was a weird static on the phone, which may have been linked to what was going on in the sky.

"I used to have a pilot license so I know what I am talking about and I know what I saw.

"I am not saying it was aliens from space as it may have been some military activity.

"All I know is that I couldn't identify it, it was flying and it was some sort of object."
