Several wards and medical equipment in the compound of Shifa hospital, one of the biggest medical institutions in the Gaza Strip, have stopped operating as a result of power outages and the depletion of fuel.

Dr. Hussein Ashour, the director of Al-Shifa hospital, told Tuesday Al-Quds satellite channel that the oxygen supply system which feeds the units of heart and internal diseases in the compound in addition to physiotherapy stopped working.

Dr. Ashour pointed out that the main generator in the compound broke down because of the lack of spare parts necessary to maintain it. He appealed to the humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to save Gaza patients.

In a statement issued following its weekly meeting and a copy of which was received by the PIC, the Palestinian government headed by premier Ismail Haneyya held on Tuesday the IOA and PA parties in Ramallah who support the Israeli ban imposed on the entry of fuel supplies to Gaza fully responsible for the suffering of Gaza people especially patients, considering such practices a war crime contrary to all international norms and laws.

The government discussed the obstacles placed by the PA unconstitutional government in Ramallah in the way of Gaza citizens who want to travel to Makkah to perform pilgrimage rituals and the ways to eliminate them.

It also decided to refer the complaints submitted by the families affected by PA chief Mahmoud Abbas's refusal to sanction the death penalty against some collaborators and murderers to the higher court of justice for consideration.

The government strongly condemned Israel for kidnapping three international activists and 15 fishermen in Gaza waters, stressing that this act was evidence of the nature of the suffocating Israeli siege on the Strip.

The government listened during its meeting to a report on the situation in the electricity sector, where the report mentioned that the electricity deficit reached 70% and the power station needs daily 315, 000 liters of diesel to operate properly.
