A still from the UFO film.

It seems we might not be alone after what is claimed to be a UFO darting across the sky was filmed on a mobile phone camera.

Andrew Baskeyfield spotted the unexplained ball of light circling above his home in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, at about 7:30pm Monday night.

The bright white dot, which was still visible in daylight against the blue cloudy sky, is simultaneously seen dancing around the screen of three separate mobile phones belonging to the 23-year-old, his father and older brother.

Andrew said: "It was really weird - like a round ball that seemed to be on fire. It was moving really fast at a steady speed and kept at the same height.

It looked like something from a sci-fi film... I have never seen anything like it before

"There where planes in the sky at the same time and you could see this wasn't a helicopter or plane as there were no landing lights.

"There was no wind that evening so it couldn't have been a weather balloon. It looked like something from a sci-fi film.

"I have never seen anything like it before and didn't know whether to ring the police or the local paper. My dad is a real skeptic but even he can't explain what it was."

A Met Office spokesman confirmed they had not released any weather balloons over Hertfordshire on Monday evening.

Staff at a nearby airfield also said they had no records of any aircraft activity in the area at the time of the sighting.

This bizarre phenomenon comes after five unexplained 'fireballs' were recently seen over Bristol, which prompted fears of a potential UFO invasion.

Roger Rosamon, of the British UFO Research Association, refused to comment until a full investigation had taken place.
