Twenty-four years before making history as the first woman on a Republican presidential ticket, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin came in second place at the Miss Alaska pageant in 1984.
Since then, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council before becoming mayor of the town -- the state's fastest-growing with a population of 6,715 -- in 1996.
Palin won the governorship in 2006. She is the state's youngest and first female governor.
The 44-year-old Idaho-native is the mother of five children, the youngest of whom was born in April and has Down syndrome. Both Palin and McCain both have children in the military.
"Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be president," the McCain campaign said in a statement Friday. "Governor Palin has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of. Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today."

How can she "shake up" the status quo when she's one of them???!!!!
Her husband works for BP, too (check wiki). BP is one of the "Oil Giants."
So what if her and McCain's sons are in the military? They will probably get special treatment like McCain got when he "accidentally" crashed four Navy jets and started the USS Forestal fire that killed over 135 sailors and burned/wounded more than this number! Google "McCain responsible for USS Forestal fire 1967"
McCain got out of it. By the way, there are 617 missing pages to his military file (google that, too). The remaining pages only praise him.
Deja vu? This same thing happened to Bush Jr's military records, too.
As far as I know, they didn't do this to Kerry's military records.
Palin is just a "poster girl" to promote illusions/propaganda to the voting sheeple. The puppet masters are using her "beauty", youth (she's young in female political arenas), "girl next door" persona and the fact that she didn't abort her Down's Syndrome child (christians just love this but they never seem to care that one child in four in America goes hungry every night).
It's all a ruse! Part of the show! And if she does have a Conscience, she wouldn't last long as VP because once she SEES the True Faces of the Snakes she'd be working with, she'd FLEE!
