Around the World

A South Korean official says a civilian helicopter has crashed into a mountain in the country's northeast, injuring seven people.

Fire official Choi Chang-sung says the helicopter carrying 16 people went down Saturday in Gapyeong, about 37 miles (60 kilometers) northeast of Seoul. He says seven people were injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

Choi says the cause of the crash was not immediately known.

A South Korean army helicopter crashed into a mountain near Seoul in February, killing all seven people on board. Last year, three helicopters and two fighter jets crashed in South Korea.
