CORONA - Six people were injured this morning in an apparent explosion at a natural gas fueling station outside Corona's corporate yard.

The incident occurred at 9:04 a.m. as a Commuter Link bus and a privately owned van were refueling, said Sgt. Jerry Pawluczenko, spokesman for the Corona Police Department. Privately owned vehicles that run on natural gas are permitted to refuel at the station. Three people were transported to hospitals, he said. One person with a lower leg injury was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Police closed off a section of Cota Street between West Rincon and Railroad streets. The bus remained at the pump, next to a van that was damaged by the explosion.

It was unclear whether there was an explosion or whether a safety valve blew off to cause the injuries and damage. The investigation was continuing.
