Eleven people were killed and four others injured in two major traffic accidents in central Russia and in the Volga area, local police said on Sunday.

Early on Sunday, a BMW car swerved into the oncoming lane on a highway in Russia's Vladimir Region and collided with a Zhiguli car. The drivers and all the four passengers in both cars were killed on the scene, the police said.

A similar traffic accident occurred also on Sunday when five people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between two VAZ cars in the Saratov Region in Russia's Volga area, the police said.
