U.S. News

WASHINGTON -- The number of people being fed worldwide by U.S. food aid rapidly declined as food and transportation costs rose, The New York Times reported.

The number declined to 70 million in 2006 from 105 million in 2002 and is predicted to drop even more, said Thomas Melito of the Government Accountability Office.

Comment: Sure! It is high priority for the US to spend money on waging wars right now than it is on feeding people. It has little - if any - to do with the rise in "food and transportation costs".

"In a situation where there are 850 million hungry people in the world and the program was only providing enough for 70 million people in 2006, the new totals will be even lower," said Melito, who called the escalating costs of food aid "frightening."

The soaring food prices have been driven in part by demand for ethanol made from corn, which has increased the price of soybeans as land planted with soybeans shifted to corn, The Times reported Saturday.

U.S. wheat prices also have risen dramatically in large part because of crop failure brought on by drought in Australia, a major producer of wheat.

Not To Mention... By Lan8r

that 'food and transportation' cost have only risen thanks to the 'peak oil scam'. Which has us brainwashed into believing that we have to give up our food resources for the production of fuel. To line the pockets of the Big Oil CEO's and the Elite with our hard earned dollars...while the majority starve to death...

We, as a nation, spend trillions of dollar to kill millions of innocent civilians in an unjust war... and let over 800 million people go hungry, How could this be?

Follow the link (American Autogenocide) as provided by Aeneas...

Stage One: The Decision to Kill. Whether singular or collective, the decision starts the genocide. The planning begins at the top of the elite patriarchal hierarchy and works its way down the social pyramid to all levels....

Do you really think that those at the top, while dining on the finest foods, being chauffeured in the stretchiest of stretch limos, residing in the plushest of mansions on the vastest estates, would for one minute entertain the slightest thought of competition for what they believe to be their rightful stake in The American Dream? They would, and did, sell out their countrymen, their fellow Americans in order to secure the grandiose lifestyle to which they, from generations past, have been accustomed to.

In 2003 the top 1 percent of households owned 57.5 percent of corporate wealth in America. And that was 4 years ago. And at that time, that would mean that 42.5% of Americans were either obvious victims of autogenocide, or silent victims, attempting to maintain the status quo, unwilling to acknowledge the corporate take-over of America, lest their 'middle class' lifestyle be infringed. Little did they realize that middle class America was destined to be done away with.

Can you say 'fascist state'?
