"The purpose of GLADIO was to attack civilians, the people - women, children, innocent people, unknown people, far removed from any political game. The reason was quite simple: to force the public to turn to the State and demand greater security. Under a strategy of tension, you 'destabilize in order to stabilize', to create tension within society and promote conservative, reactionary social and political tendencies."

Yeah this feels directed to stir up unrest, like the protesters' leaders got their orders from "somewhere." I understand Arabs live there and once upon a time some groups wanted it to be a Muslim capital for like a minute. But it's definitely overblown. For that matter I would guess Israelis don't have good prospects in the long-term, by virtue of being eventually supplanted by the Arab population, so it would be in their interest to cause a bit of chaos now and then to paint occupation as the only possibility. But I could be wrong.
