On November 14, the temperature in Russia's Siberian cities is -28 degrees Celsius (-18.4 degrees Fahrenheit)

Schools in Russia's Siberian cities of Tyumen and Khanty-Mansiysk have been closed on Monday due to severe frost, the Khanty-Mansiysk Department of Education said.

"We have cancelled classes in the first to ninth grades as the temperature today is minus 28 degrees Celsius (-18.4 degrees Fahrenheit)," the department noted.

"Because of the low temperature, classes in the first to fourth grades have been cancelled in Tyumen," the city administration told TASS.

According to Yuri Varakin, head of the Situation Center at the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, the Urals and Siberia have been hit by an anticyclone. He added that apart from the Urals and Western Siberia, the high pressure area would engulf the Krasnoyarsk region, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous region as well as the Altai region and Kazakhstan's border areas.

According to the weather forecast, in Siberia's Novosibirsk region and the Republic of Khakassia will experience temperature drops of up to minus 25-30 degrees Celsius by November 15-16, while in the Urals' region of Sverdlovsk can expect to see their thermometers plummet to lows of 25 degrees Celsius below zero, which is 7-8 degrees less than normal. Varakin pointed out that even in Siberia such low temperatures were usually recorded in the first half of December.
