The dangerous situation is enhanced by strong wind blowing offshore which could finally trigger giant and strong storm surges. Numbers of major ports are now closed.
The giant waves are now already 4.5-meter high.

are now frequently coming up to areas that were previously swamped only once in a blue moon or so. I believe ever since the 8.1 Coquimbo earthquake aprox six months ago, parts of the coast are slightly lower which is something I don't recall being reported on or the connection being made. I know from my own eyes that the hill I live on rose about three meters as a result of the quake.
