Work is currently underway across the whole of the North laying pipelines all over to connect water to everywhere. There have nearly been completed now. The water has arrived - months ago, from Turkey and the resevoir is full. They are in dispute who will mange this, but the project of the Century has been completed. This will give Cypriots and agricultural advantage and much more.
Whole villages were relocated in Turkey to make room for the huge dam in the mountains - an incredible feat. Cyprus and environs has historically suffered from drought and famine. Barring sabotage, this will be a success story. The aquifers only had 50 years remaining in 2004, most of which was used and salted up slowly. We do have many resevoirs though they are down 20% so far this year due to the very mild and hot winter we have experienced.
