"An incoming plane has been escorted into the airport by the Royal Air Force as a result of information received by the pilot about a possible device on board," Chief Superintendent John O'Hare said in a statement.
"We don't know how genuine this threat is but it is absolutely vital we deal with the situation as a full emergency," he added.
The Ministry of Defence declined to comment.
A spokesman for the airport said the plane was operated by Qatar Airways.

Oh dear! I knew there was a reason why I'd never fly this airline again! And yes, I know that its cheap! (who doesn't?)
Other than the fact that their airport is surrounded by 35 foot razor wire and a camel wouldn't be seen dead in the vicinity, or anything remotely Qatarian, perhaps? It might be embarrassed! It would probably have to have it's eyes shut because of a sand storm and seriously why would it want to be there in the first place? Not an oasis in sight.

I'm guessing if they are a target, then it won't be via Qatar Airport. Any 'device' is going to have to come from somewhere else. Unless it's 'laid' by those extra 'specially', 'specially' people in first class or business, because, lets face it, who else would bother (or be paid enough to do it)? Especially for an airline that makes such a 'fuss' about how they treat these people. And let's face it, everybody else is treated like well cattle....
Does anyone know where Qatar is? It's kind of like a pimple sitting on top of .... yeah. But the sea looks very pretty from the air, baring all 'stuff' happening and camel hazards, that is. Pity you have to catch a bus to the terminal and it takes 35 minutes or so. Luv that razor wire! How do you land in a sand storm...?
