The coldest air of the season so far is settling in around Connecticut. A new winter storm will move in this weekend and tap into that cold air.

Temperatures will dip well down into the teens Thursday night.

A breeze will add to the cold for a time, producing RealFeel® temperatures near zero.

A storm will develop over the Deep South Friday and will head northeastward Saturday.

While warmer air will move up with that storm, odds favor an extended period of snow Saturday afternoon into Saturday night. Roads are likely to be slippery and snow covered in some areas, because they have been made cold by the recent Arctic air.

The wintry precipitation forecast to occur during the Army-Navy Classic Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Enough snow and icy mix can fall to not only impact the game at Philadelphia, but also disrupt travel throughout the Northeast region.

The track and strength of the storm as it nears the coast will bring a wide range of snowfall across the state of Connecticut Saturday night into early Sunday. Where the storm remains all snow in New England, including northern and western Connecticut a heavy accumulation will occur, between 6-12 inches. Nearer to the coast, accumulations will likely remain below 3 inches.

The storm will depart the area Sunday afternoon. Wet and slushy areas will freeze Sunday night, so be alert for areas of black ice.
