Article begins by saying that a "species of bacteria that commonly causes colds," may also cause ASVD. Is it no longer 'common knowledge' that that rhinoviruses cause colds?*
If it were true that a "bacteria that commonly causes colds" then this would be a bigger story than it is.
I think he meant 'is an aggravating factor" for colds, (e.g., helps colds become pneumonia," or similar. You'd think a medical writer would be more careful with his terminology.
