A strong line of thunderstorms has caused serious damage in some cities and towns in Western Massachusetts. One of our crews is on Hunt Street in Agawam, where trees and limbs have come down, with one tree falling on top of a pickup truck. The torrential, tropical rain also caused large puddles and some street flooding on Canal Street in Holyoke, Liberty Street in Springfield, and at the intersection of Grattan Street and Memorial Drive in Chicopee, along with several other roadways in the area.


Also, in West Springfield, the heavy amount of rain on the roof of the TD Bank on Route 5 caused the roof to become compromised, forcing people from the bank and the closure of the bank for the day.

South of the border, in Connecticut, a tornado warning was in effect for Hampden and Tolland Counties until 2:00 p.m.

There is no confirmation of a tornado touching down in Connecticut, but there have been several reports of trees and limbs down in Windsor Locks, near the airport. ABC40′s Brendan Monahan also came up upon a truck that had tipped over in the parking lot of a Walmart in East Windsor.
