But it's all a lie. Andre Barbosa is a squatter, who took residence at 580 Golden Harbour Drive in July. The twist is that he can't be kicked out of the house, as it is legal for him to live there, without owning or even renting it.
Barbosa, a Brazilian national, cannot be arrested because no one witnessed him breaking into the 7,522 square foot, five bedroom, six bathroom, waterfront home.
The bank who foreclosed the home, Bank of America, said there is a "certain legal process" they are required to follow by law and that they are "work[ing] diligently to resolve the matter."
Barbosa placed a signed copy of the Adverse Possession law on the window of the house, which is a law that allows a person to claim title on a property after seven years.
When police were called to the house the day after Christmas, they couldn't evict him because he presented them with the document.
Meanwhile, neighbors are getting increasingly angry and worried about him living there. One next-door neighbor even tried to buy the house.
Lyn Houston said she approached Bank of America with an offer to buy it, but she never received a response.
"We're all going crazy, trying to figure out what to do," she said. "It's unbelievable that it can be done. Plus, if they've got the balls to break in the house, what's to prevent them from coming over here?"
Barbosa swooped in on the house shortly after it was foreclosed. He notified the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser's Office that he was moving in, and signed documents that named him as a "living beneficiary to the Divine Estate being superior of commerce and usury."
One neighbor walked into the house and discovered four people inside. They said the group is likely "establishing an embassy for their mission."
The squatter's Facebook page says he attended South Technical Education Center in Boynton Beach and South Tech Academy in West Palm Beach.
He has also created a Facebook page for the house, called "Templo de Kamisamar."
Neighbors think it is crazy that he is not being forced to move out. One said, "You're walking into a house, it's crazy. And the point of not being able to get him out is even crazier."

The gentleman who needed a place to live - now has a place to live and he has the necessary documents to prove his right to reside in the house. He has researched and completed his 'homework' as it were and seems to know what he is doing. All I can say is good for him. The administration systems currently in place have a - gap - it would seem and an intelligent human being has worked out - how to make the - gap- work for him.
As for the neighbours - he isn't hurting anyone! Would the neighbours prefer that he be homeless?
