LAURA KNIGHT-JADCZYK AND JOE QUINN
Since the 9/11 attacks, no book has provided a satisfactory answer as to WHY the attacks occurred and who was ultimately responsible for carrying them out - until now.
establish Orwell's Doublespeak as the official language of communication.
One thing they should 100% ban in schools is the use of red ink. Nothing creates more unpleasant feelings than getting your report back and seeing nothing but red all over it...

Interesting, I have read in some places that computer technology might have some major negative effects on society and individuals eg, lose of social and intellectual skills as people outsource thinking power to technology. For example, texting and its degradation to vocabulary, calculators with simple arithmetic skills ~(can you multiply 7865737*3632663 by hand? or divide 3273747/66353 by hand?) many people nowadays can't, social networking with superficial relationships amongst other things so it appears it is a double edged sword and there might be unexplored "shadow" elements to use a jungian phrase stuff going on here. Overall it seems to improve on "connectivity/networking" though.

sorry for double post, browser went all funny.
If they actually ban these words in tests (and maybe take a step further and say ban them from being spoken) wouldn't that pretty much shelter them to the point where they would have that much of a tough time adjusting to the real world when they get out there?i know it most likely wouldn't effect some students but what about the kids that are already extremely sheltered by their parents already?i mean to live in your own happy place wearing rose colored glasses and then all of a sudden have to get out there as an adult and find out things aren't as peachy as you were taught they'd be.That would be such a shock to the system they wouldn't be able to function.does that sound credible or am i just going over the top here?

Its not the browser(I don't think), its this page unless both mine and your browser have gone haywire.
In reference to computers here is an interesting 7 minute talk on the dark side of them:

I thought it was pretty good. Atleast to get one thinking about how such a powerful tool for advancement can have such a shadowy side to it. How deep does the impact go? Does this apply to most technologies? Was there a time when people could work stuff out just with there mind and not rely on pen and paper or a computer??
Now school has to be some sort of "feel good" activity where no one's feelings get hurt? Who is spreading these ideas? That's what I want to know. They are worse than funny. I think it's really dangerous to society that there are people in the educational system who think this way.
This also illustrates the kind of bizarre authoritarianism that can take over when really downtone people get hold of "liberal" ideas and play around with them. They have hijacked a reform movement and turned it into a total disaster. People who think this way shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a school or a student.

My browser did something weird.

Don't be ridiculous, It's easy, just a few minutes - but what's the point? With use of a spreadsheet I can get results in a second so I don't have to lose time on mechanical counting. Moreover I can easily download data from internet and count the changes in position of earth in orbit, and then share this information with someone who cares for it. That was that I had in mind...
Hi kenny,
I don't have doubts that computers have a positive effect. I was just expanding on your point to say they also have a negative effect.
Yeah the calculation on a spreadsheet is super quick, but as from the video can't you see you're outsourcing brain power to computer power?? All it takes is a technology crash before everyone goes back to stone age.
Here is a stand up comedy clip on it: Excuse the language

Jehovah's Witnesses reject Birthdays all holidays,Thanksgiving even benign Mother's day.
The Watchtower leaders want to be 'different' for the sake of being different.Jehovah's Witnesses are a dysfunctional group from the get-go .
Christmas-Jesus was not born on exactly Dec 25th,but he also did not have his *invisible* second coming in the month of October 1914,a falsehood that is the core doctrine of the Watchtower religion.

I think it goes deeper than the article suggest. It isn't ridiculous, it is important. It informs us (among others) what is perceived as a threat for a society slavery. For example, computer in home isn't here as an example of wealth, because there also should be tv, game console, washing mashine, refrigerator, and some other stuff on the list I don't even afford. I have computer and I know it lets people save time and money if used that way.
It is dangerous, because gives people some kind of freedom. Freedom of connections. The same reason they banned slavery - how can you know what is freedom, if you don't know what is slavery? Maybe you would recognize it, and than demand something opposite?
First they try to eliminate words from tests, then from using, and soon they will be arresting kid who tells in school about dreaming of passed grandma who had cancer and died in a hurracane on birthday of Jesus.
