LAURA KNIGHT-JADCZYK AND JOE QUINN
Since the 9/11 attacks, no book has provided a satisfactory answer as to WHY the attacks occurred and who was ultimately responsible for carrying them out - until now.
Elements within the policy-making apparatus in america are making a killing smuggling drugs into the country and selling on the black market. I believe this is the main reason for its legal status. Although other factors certainly do contribute like the comment before mine.
It all boils down to the almighty dollar and who can collect it.Whether its the cia smuggling it in or whatever govt. agency needs some cash it all points to corruption in the system somewhere and somehow. Its the same with the atf selling guns to the mexican cartels.Same principle, corruption in the system.
When organised crime is stripped of its source of income, it naturally moves to other forms of.... activities, or it moves to countries where there are other markets.
Wasn't Portugal where Madeleine McCann disappeared from?
I'm Portuguese and I can attest that the drugs situation changed a lot since the decriminilization of drug usage ( there is a caveat though: drug possession is still ground for fine or prison, depending of the quantity ... how can you consume drugs without possesing them at a time beats me ;) ) I remember doing some volunteer work in some very problematic areas around Lisbon in 1996-98 and the diference to the situation of today is staggering.
That DEA person clearly does not know a iota about the issue here ... the heroin consumer population in here is not increasing in big numbers and infact most of it are people that got the habit in the 80's and the 90's ( and the increase that was actually seen has probably more with the flood of cheap opium from Afghanistan since 2002 than with anything else ) and HIV increase in here has nothing to do with drug usage, especially because Portugal has since the mid 90's a program of free exchange of used needles and syringes with no questions asked in every pharmacy, making the transmission due to shared needles perfectly residual comapred with some other countries ( like the US or worse, Russia ), but also because HIV in Portugal already reached the point that most of the infections are caused by unprotected heterosssexual sexual relations.
@ Ruth
Organized crime in here actually did not ressented much from this, since most of the drug traffic in Portugal was and is to fufill drug usage in Central Europe and UK ( with most of it coming via boat ) ... as you can imagine adecrease of demand here made not much of problems to them. And there are also other activities, like prostitution ( again , a lot of it in here is "hiring" S.American women to "export" to CentralEurope ) ...
And about Madeleine McCain issue ... well , I dunno how well informed people outside Portugal know of this, but what is said in small mouth in here is that Madeleine died in the day it was reported missing and that the parents decided to cover up. There were very sour issues between the Portuguese police and the UK that even lead to the investigator in charge, that is a firm defender of the thesis I pointed above, to be "fired" ( was pressured to resign ) and there are clear signs that the K governement made everything in their power to protect the McCain couple of being investigated ... given that they were very well connected people in the UK, I guess that was to be expected.
The people that took Madeleine McCann are very clever. They KNOW what the people of Portugal would prefer to believe and they certainly are not constrained by any international borders or laws.... their influence is THAT huge. But they can make it look a certain way. This is probably what their contacts in Britain were doing and certainly they don't care if they have to sacrifice a member of the Potugese police force in order to further their aims. This is what I think.
Years ago, that's why I appreciate the Dutch people, they legalized 4 things . The possession for personal use of up to 5grams of cocaine for personal use, euthanasia for end-stage patients with no chances of recovery, prostitution and marriage between homosexual couples of both sexes. Plus , pot runs freely. The fact that things cooled down after that, were cofirmed by people I know like my music teacher.
The Swiss however made an experiment years ago when HIV had started to spread. They opened up 2 parks , which were like ghettos (mistake #1) for regular "hard drug" abusers freely giving them as much cocaine and heroine they wanted (mistake #2) and clean needles. They believed that that the clean needles would solve the problem. Apparently they were wrong. After pickin' up a dead body each day from each park they had to shut both parks down. It's also well known that the Swiss banks have been "laundering" money. That has been their main activity. Maybe the U.S. should adopt some ideas from Europe. Leave the bad ones aside and adopting the good ones. #1: You can't keep chasing money forever it's gonna backfire.Plus if you do that, there's no end in sight.
Currently Apple has more cash than the U.S. govmnt. #2 : Nothing is on/off. There are in between stages , it's all in regulating and optimizing. That's all.
The US can no longer afford a "war" against anything.
So true! This would be a great title for a SOTT article:)
It is in the mainstream now.The report about Portugal is another example of how the US is so hard headed about its current drug policy, and the way it thinks. The US gov wont give up its fight, the commercial prison system has too much money to lose jailing non violent offenders to give up.Not to mention big Pharma would lose a lot of money as well, its all about the profits for big business and since they have the clout in their PAC committees nobody else stands a chance.Just another example of how corrupted our Govt. really is.Also not too think of all the police and DEA that would have to be re assigned if they didnt have the big war on drugs.
Most of the people arent looking to decriminalize every drug the majority is just after marijuana prohibition to end. That is even to much for them to consider. We wont get into the money that would save the feds or local governments. We wont get into the countless deaths caused by legal drugs or alcohol or tobacco.
There is a bill in committee now called HR2306 that would end the prohibition on marijuana it needs to get passed,it needs the support of all people to pass. Please write your state reps and congress members in support of this bill HR2306.
