When I was younger and had not taken time to study the world more closely, I wondered how one could spot the bad guys. At that time, I thought one good rule of thumb would be to consider those who sanction torture as definitely the bad guys. Whatever causes or good things they supposedly represented, these became instantly meaningless in face of such inhumane behavior.
Even though I have studied and learned much more about the world, this simplistic rule of thumb seems to be still appropriate.
Therefore we have three bad guys listed in the article: Bush, Cheney, and finally also Obama, since he will not do anything about the first two.
