November 25, 2002 - Israeli troops shot and killed an 8-year-old Palestinian boy in Nablus on Monday as hundreds of youths ignored a curfew and threw stones at soldiers on their way home from school, witnesses and hospital officials said. The children gathered in the center of the city, hurling stones at an army jeep, witnesses said. The soldiers opened fire, killing the boy, Jihad Faqeh, hospital officials said. Seven Palestinians were wounded, including two adults who were in serious condition. The Israeli army said troops fired to disperse stone-throwers, and that two explosive devices were thrown toward soldiers.
Comment: no "sorry", no "it was a mistake" no "regret;" the situation seems to be that in Israel a soldier can simply shoot dead an 8 yr old child and no one condemns them or calls them "terrorists."
Last week, a federal court ruling gave Attorney General John Ashcroft and the Justice Department sweeping powers to track down suspected spies and terrorists. The three-judge review panel struck down an earlier ruling that sought to impose restraints on how and when surveillance authority could be employed under the USA Patriot Act. Congress passed the act after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks in New York and northern Virginia. Last week's ruling allows Ashcroft and the FBI to continue to a virtual free hand to examine electronic communications, use wiretaps and conduct searches. That's a chilling prospect. -
"Piece by piece, this administration is dismantling the basic rights afforded to every American under the Constitution," U.S. Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., said earlier this week. The ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, Conyers termed the ruling "despicable" and said it continues the Bush administration's sustained assault on civil liberties. -
We think Ashcroft's time and effort would be better spent on overhauling the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Its missteps and ineptitude allowed several of the Sept. 11 hijackers to roam the United States freely for months before the attacks. Fixing the INS would not require sidestepping a search warrant, only some hard and long-overdue decisions.
Consider, too, who has rejoined the federal government to help the Bush administration conduct its electronic war. Vice Adm. John Poindexter took charge last January of the Office of Information Awareness at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. -
Students of government excesses will recall Poindexter from the Reagan administration and his part in the Iran-Contra mess of the late 1980s. The admiral was convicted in 1990 for his role in the secret arms-for-hostages fiasco. That his conviction was reversed in 1991 by a federal appeals court because he had been granted immunity for his testimony before Congress about the case does nothing to diminish his involvement in the affair. -
When talk turns to obtaining evidence surreptitiously or by circumventing search warrants, the public should respond with skepticism and suspicion. The war against terror is, after all, supposed to be about defending freedom, not surrendering it. Ashcroft, we believe, has been far too zealous in pursuit of remedies that infringe on civil rights. Our fear is that once those rights are modified or curtailed, they will never be restored.

A second minor earthquake shook the San Francisco Bay Area on Sunday evening, but as with the first, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. - The 3.77-magnitude quake occurred at 7:57 p.m. (10:57 p.m. ET) and was centered 2 miles southeast of San Ramon in Contra Costa County, - The first quake, which had a preliminary magnitude of 3.9, occurred at 6:54 a.m. (9:54 a.m. ET) and was centered 26 miles east of San Francisco City Hall in the town of San Ramon. - Though minor, the tremor was the strongest along the Calaveras fault since the 1970s, said Dave Schwartz, a geologist with the USGS, who was seven miles north of the epicenter when it struck and slept through it. - Tankersley said the second earthquake along the same fault line adds additional concerns, noting the emergency services office will be watching to see if a third quake of magnitude 3.5 strikes within 24 hours of the original Sunday morning tremor, which could signal an increased period of seismic activity.

U.S. ties with Saudi Arabia are at a "crisis stage," strained by the showdown over Iraq and reports that a Saudi princess may have been the source of funds that went to two of the September 11 suicide hijackers, Sen. Joseph Lieberman said Sunday. - Lieberman also called Saudi reluctance to allow U.S. forces to use bases on its territory in a possible military confrontation with Iraq "unacceptable." "President Bush has taken a lot of abuse in the last two years because of the connections of this administration with Saudi Arabia," he said. "I think it's time for the president to blow the whistle and remember what he said after September 11 -- you're either with us or you're with the terrorists."
Comment: Now it all begins to make sense. Just leak out a few things to put the Saudis on the hot-seat so they will cooperate with the Bush Reich plans. Question that ought to be asked is this: If the Saudis are connected with 9-11, is it possible that their good buddy Bush is also? Hmmmm.... After all, we know that the CIA and other alphabet soup guys create "front organizations" to funnel money to covert operations. What's so different about the idea that the Bush Gang used the Saudi's to funnel money to the "attack on America" gang? A group of Muslim lawyers has asked the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers to punish Alan Dershowitz because of the Harvard Law School professor's proposal to raze Palestinian villages in response to attacks on Israelis. The Washington-based Muslim Legal Defense and Education Fund claims Dershowitz broke the rules of his profession by advocating for a policy that would violate international law. Dershowitz, who helped defend O.J. Simpson, proposed in March that Israel declare a short moratorium on reprisals for terror attacks, and then circulate a list of locations that would be demolished if Palestinians carried out further attacks.
UN rejects Israeli account of British official's killing - The United Nations dismissed as "not credible" yesterday an Israeli army claim that Palestinian gunmen fired from inside a UN compound in the West Bank city of Jenin on Friday before its soldiers shot dead Iain Hook, a 52-year-old British relief worker. - Paul McCann, a spokesman for the UN relief agency, said: "Our preliminary findings are completely contrary to what the Israeli army said. The compound is quite small. At no point did we lose control of the site. There were no militants on the site. I am very sad and angry that the man was shot dead while working in a clearly marked UN compound."

They're watching Washington policymakers make what will likely be a major organizational misstep of their own - pushing forward a massive, ill-conceived merger that puts many of the failed megadeals of the '90s to shame. The largest reorganization of the federal government in a half-century is now underway. - Last week, the Senate followed the House in approving the Homeland Security bill. The legislation will combine 22 existing agencies and 170,000 federal employees to create a new government department with at least a $35 billion annual budget request. The new super-sized security bureau could take years to fully put in place. And there's no assurance that we will be any safer than when we started. Stephen Moore of the Cato Institute says Republicans and conservatives are falling into the same traps that liberals have over the last 50 years. "If there is a problem in America, create a new government program or government agency to deal with it," says Moore. "And we've seen over the last 30 years that when we created the Department of Energy, that certainly didn't solve the energy crisis. We created the Education Department. That didn't solve the education problem." Indeed, you could argue these departments compounded rather than solved problems.

Iraq mocks "Clown George" Bush, insists inspectors will find no banned arms. - Washington's conduct had "led to the world's awakening, which in turn led to the isolation of the United States and made them look like clowns, chiefly clown George whether in his declarations or his performance," Iraqi news sez. - Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov, for his part, said the world could not rid itself of terrorism just by forcing a regime change in Baghdad. "The international community must understand that it will not settle the problem of terrorism simply by settling the problem of Iraq," Ivanov said in Moscow.
'Mousetrap' Marks 50 Years as Longest-Running Play - "The Mousetrap" was originally called "Three Blind Mice" and was written by Agatha Christie in 1947 as a 30-minute radio play to celebrate the then Queen Mary's 80th birthday. The race is on to get capital murder convictions and the death penalty for the two Beltway sniper suspects, John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo. Indeed, in a blatant case of the cart driving the horse, the jurisdiction for their trials was chosen with the "ultimate sentence" (in Attorney General John Ashcroft's words) in mind. - By now, it seems certain that both will be tried in Virginia where, unlike Maryland or federal courts, juveniles can be sentenced to death. - Considerations of how the two can receive a fair trial have given way to a rush to execute as soon as possible. While this is unseemly enough, it is even more troubling for the system to be treating seventeen-year-old Malvo the same -- indeed, even worse than -- forty-two-year-old Muhammad. - Malvo, not Muhammad, is the one who was pressured to confess without access to his guardian or lawyer. He is the one who has been subject to leaks, even though juvenile criminal matters are supposed to be confidential. He is the one whose confession is now public knowledge and likely to prejudice potential jurors. And he will likely continue to be prejudiced by a judge's recent decision not to impose a gag order to prevent further, similar leaks. In short, Malvo has not been afforded the protections even the law of Virginia gives to juvenile defendants. For all the prosecution's invocation of "the law," they sure don't seem to be following it.
Why Malvo's confession to being the sniper mastermind is not credible Was the seventeen-year-old Malvo really as instrumental in planning and carrying out the murders, as he supposedly confessed? Recall what reports say he was like before Muhammad took him under his wing: He was a homeless boy who desperately wanted a parent who cared about him. He was quiet and well behaved – even obsequious – and he had been a good student before he was kicked out of school for immigration reasons. (A non-citizen, he lacked papers to prove his status, and was turned over to the INS.) Grateful for a father figure, Malvo was under Muhammad's "spell," according to numerous observers. Even when he was apparently ravenously hungry, he would not eat a sandwich without seeking permission from Muhammad – who insisted that Malvo stick to a strict diet (a blend of Islamic and Taoist restrictions).
Muhammad is: A 42-year-old war veteran with weapons training. And remember the character of the sniper crimes: Expertly executed, with flawless getaways, and no evidence left behind sufficient to find them. (They might still be on the loose had they not initiated contact with law enforcement.)
Here is what will probably happen to Malvo: He will be tried as an adult. His confession will be admitted. He will be foreclosed from a successful diminished capacity or insanity plea. A jury prejudiced by news accounts of his confession will convict him. And he will be executed by the state of Virginia.
Comment: Sounds to me like somebody is pretty anxious to get rid of these guys the same way they were anxious to get rid of McVey and Lee Harvey Oswald. Patsies are inconvenient to have around, ya know.... they might wake up and actually talk to somebody... and who knows where the finger would point...
Space boulders big enough to wipe out a major city slam into the Earth about once every 1,000 years, much less frequently than previously thought, scientists said Wednesday. The revised calculations come from an unprecedented examination of years of data from U.S. Defense Department satellites that scour the ground for nuclear explosions. - Some asteroid experts were hesitant to embrace the new prediction rates. "The new impact rate estimate is based on the assumption that the asteroidal and cometary flux remains more or less constant over time, (but) the data set used is fairly limited and the timespan rather short," said Benny Peiser, director of a U.K.-based group that monitors asteroid threats. Nevertheless, Peiser welcomed the wealth of additional data. "The new research substantiates that we are constantly bombarded by cosmic debris large enough to be misinterpreted as a nuclear attack. The findings are a compelling warning that we need to start scanning the skies for those small but potentially harmful intruders."

A draft report by the joint Congressional committee looking into 9-11 attacks has concluded that the F.B.I. and the C.I.A, in their investigations, did not aggressively pursue leads that might have linked the terrorists to Saudi Arabia, senior government officials said today. - The committee's preliminary findings, which also accuse the Saudi government of a lack of cooperation with American investigators, have caused a bitter behind-the-scenes dispute between the panel's staff and officials at the F.B.I. and the C.I.A. At each agency, officials have disagreed with the draft findings, saying investigators vigorously pursued all available information related to Saudi Arabia. - Fifteen of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens, but little is known about their backgrounds and how they were recruited for the attacks.
U.S. lawmakers investigating the Sept. 11 attacks believe the FBI has not pursued aggressively whether Saudi Arabia provided money that helped support two of the hijackers, aides said Saturday. The White House denied the assertion as well as claims that the FBI has not done enough to examine fully the financing of the 19 hijackers, 15 of whom came from Saudi Arabia. Questions about the investigation could become troublesome for the U.S. administration, which is seeking the Saudis' help for a possible military campaign against their neighbor, Iraq. Saudi Arabia has been noncommittal, torn between its ties with the United States and anti-war sentiment among the Arabs.
Russian President Vladimir Putin told U.S. President George W. Bush the United States should not wage war alone against Iraq, and he put Bush on the spot by questioning whether White House allies like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are doing enough to fight terrorism. - Meeting with Putin beneath the golden domes of Catherine Palace, Bush cited the recent arrest of al-Qaida's Gulf operations chief, Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, as evidence of the U.S.-led coalition's success. "People who love freedom are one person safer as a result of us finding this guy," Bush said. "We did bring to justice a killer." - "We should not forget about those who finance terrorism," Putin said, noting that 15 of the Sept. 11 terrorists were Saudi citizens. "We should not forget about that."
Prime Minister Jean Chrétien refused today to accept the resignation of his embattled communications director, Francoise Ducros, over her alleged remark that U.S. President George W. Bush is a "moron." Chrétien said Ducros had apologized to him for the furor sparked by a conversation she had with a journalist at the NATO summit in Prague. "She was graceful enough to offer me her resignation," the prime minister said. "I have not accepted that." Ducros, who did not appear at the news conference in Prague, told Chrétien she couldn't recall whether she made the remark but acknowledged she frequently uses the word "moron," Chrétien said.

Questions were mounting yesterday over the death of Iain Hook, the British United Nations relief worker killed in Jenin refugee camp, after it emerged that the Israeli army had failed to react to repeated telephone calls from Mr Hook pleading for a ceasefire so he could evacuate staff from the UN compound where he died. - Mr Hook, 54, from Felixstowe in Suffolk, was shot dead inside a clearly marked UN compound on Friday. The Israeli army had surrounded a building nearby where a wanted Palestinian militant was believed to be hiding, and gunfire broke out. - "We requested repeatedly to the Israelis that they cease fire long enough for us to be able to evacuate not only UN staff, but also a disabled woman who was living in the building opposite the one the Israeli operation was centred on," said Paul McCann, a spokesman for UNRWA, the UN agency Mr Hook worked for, which provides humanitarian assistance to Palestinian refugees. UNRWA's office in Jerusalem had also made several calls to the Israeli army without success. The Israeli army was already coming under heavy international criticism over Mr Hook's death after the UN revealed that Israeli soldiers had blocked an ambulance from getting to the relief worker after he was shot, considerably delaying its arrival. - It is not clear why the soldier opened fire into a compound clearly marked with UN signs and a blue flag. "The compound is well-known to Israelis. It is inexcusable to fire into it for any reason," a UN source said yesterday.
The secret war - British and American warplanes are attacking Iraq's air defences almost daily, and making practice runs on other targets. US special forces are reported to be on the ground in western and northern Iraq, and military engineers are preparing and upgrading airfields in the Kurdish zone. In many ways, the war on Iraq has already begun. This war is a good deal more secret than the very public preparations being made by the US and its allies for an invasion of Iraq. No attempt has been made to conceal the build-up of forces in the region, with the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier battle group in the Gulf and four more groups en route or preparing to sail. Enough equipment for an armoured division is already in Kuwait, and more is on the high seas.
Defense Department agency recently considered—and rejected—a far-reaching plan that would sharply curtail online anonymity by tagging e-mail and Web browsing with unique markers for each Internet user. Riots rage on as Miss World contestants flee Nigeria - Fighting which began as protest by Muslim youths against a newspaper article on the pageant has now degenerated into a bloody street war between Muslims and Christians, witnesses say. Hours earlier, Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo went on television along with religious leaders to appeal for national calm, blaming a media report, not the contest itself, for the violence. "It could happen at any time irresponsible journalism is committed against Islam," he said. The protests began after a newspaper suggested that the Prophet Mohammed would have probably chosen to marry one of the Miss World contestants if he had witnessed the beauty pageant in Abuja. The Nigerian Government has assured Muslims that those responsible for the offending article, which appeared in ThisDay newspaper, will be brought to account. ThisDay has retracted it and has published apologies. A top official for the Miss World pageant on Saturday blamed the international media for overplaying reports of rioting in Nigeria, which led to the event being moved from the Nigerian capital Abuja to London. Guy Murray-Bruce, national director of the Miss World Nigeria organisation, told BBC radio the "Miss World pageant has nothing to do with any rioting or any deaths".

Israeli Roots of Hamas Are Being Exposed - Speaking in Jerusalem Dec. 20, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Daniel Kurtzer made the connection between the growth of the Islamic fundamentalist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, and Israel's promotion of the Islamic movement as a counter to the Palestinian nationalist movement. Kurtzer's comments come very close to EIR' s own presentation of the evidence of Israel's instrumental role in establishing Hamas, and its ongoing control of that organization.
2,500 city jobs put on the line in Philly due to economic decline - "We must fundamentally and responsibly reform and permanently reduce the employee population," he told City Council. Layoffs are possible, he said later. - "This union will not agree to layoffs. That's not negotiable at all," said Herman "Pete" Matthews, head of District Council 33 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, which represents 12,000 blue-collar workers. "Wherever the deficit is coming from, it's not because of us," Matthews said. Thomas Paine Cronin, president of District Council 47, which represents 5,200 white-collar workers, said: "We've made proposals to the city where we can work more efficiently and provide better service to the City of Philadelphia... . The U.S. Navy plans to deploy an Aegis-class destroyer in the eastern Mediterranean by January to help guard Israel against an attack by Iraqi Scud missiles. U.S. officials said a program of six tests of the Aegis will be conducted to develop an emergency deployment sea-based ballistic missile defense against short- to medium-range ballistic missiles.
Briton apparently killed by Israeli troops following suicide bombing - Iain Hook, 53, a Briton who had been hired by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNWRA) to coordinate the reconstruction of Jenin camp, was shot dead after an exchange of fire erupted between Palestinian gunmen and Israeli troops who had raided the northern West Bank city. It was not immediately clear who fired the lethal bullets, but top Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat described the incident as a "new Israeli crime", threatening to further inflame the two-year-old Palestinian uprising. - UN Secretary General Kofi Annan chimed in, criticizing Israel for not immediately letting in an ambulance to carry Hook to hospital. - The intifada's death toll rose to 2,712 -- including 1,990 Palestinians and 672 Israelis -- the army also reinvaded the southern West Bank town of Bethlehem after the military determined Thursday's suicide bomber launched his attack on Jerusalem from the town. - Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat told reporters that "Israel wants to destroy peace not only with the Palestinians but with the whole of the Middle East and with all Arab countries." - The death of a British citizen in Jenin was likely to be an embarrassment for Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who is treading carefully as he enters the thick of Israel's electoral campaign. On Friday evening, the Israeli army had not yet admitted responsibility for the death, but the head of the Jenin hospital diagnosed Hook had been "hit by two Israeli M-16 bullets in the abdomen."
Two Russian-speaking protesters threw tomatoes at NATO chief George Robertson and shouted that NATO was "worse than the Gestapo" as he closed the alliance's landmark summit here. Shouting that they were from the National Bolshevik Party of Russia, they stood up as he finished taking questions and threw two tomatoes at Robertson, missing him and hitting a back wall. The Senate's passage of the ludicrously misnamed Homeland Security bill is easily the biggest bad joke in American history, because in declaring war on all peoples of the world — including its own citizens — it presages a new Dark Age in world history, one in which the United States may annihilate any other country for any reason it concocts, or for no reason at all. The bill is ludicrously misnamed because nothing in this nation's history has ever jeopardized its citizens' security to this degree.
Most tragic of all, however, is the complete destruction of that beacon of hope for the whole world for two centuries, the U.S. Constitution. Completely gone are the right to a fair trial, the right to be safe in one's home, the right to confront one's accuser, the right to legal representation and the right to be recognized as innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Now, America simply kills mere suspects from the air with unmanned planes, or throws them into jail without possibility of trial, arbitrarily decreed guilty by biased political functionaries and executed with no chance to prove one's innocence. And further, Attorney General John Ashcroft plans further incursions into America's privacy by placing new restrictions on Internet and phone communications.
Though surely few in Congress realize it yet, America's legislators essentially voted themselves out of existence by passing the bill, because now the majority of governmental security functions are lumped together under the arbitrary aegis of Homeland Security, bypassing Congress with its decision-making controlled directly by the president and his unconfirmed henchman, the director of Homeland Security. Congress, as it has been for many years, is now merely window-dressing for the criminal charades of the dictator, which is exactly what happened to the Roman republic all those long years ago.
Congress has approved the mass killing of many American citizens by passing the Homeland Security by shamefully wide margins in both the House and the Senate. A minor provision in the legislation gives absolute authority to nonmedical administrative personnel to mandate dangerous, untested vaccinations on all American citizens. Since so many American military personnel died from receiving untested and mysterious vaccinations prior to the first Gulf War, and since vaccine stores presumably to be used in mass vaccinations are either out-of-date or untested, many fatalities are expected from these dangerous inoculations. Most conscientious doctors have advocated refusing the shots, but the legislation provides for arrest (and possible confiscation of property) of those refusing to accept "legally" ordered vaccinations.
Adding a provision that protects manufacturers of the ingredients from malpractice lawsuits in the event of death or infirmity is another sardonic insult included in the legislation. And investigating the real owners of the companies who are about to foist these injurious substances on ignorant Americans reveals them to be insiders of the highest echelon, some with direct ties to the president's father.
In addition, medical opinion reveals this whole issue to be a complete, cynical, financial boondoggle. The Centers for Disease Control has announced the new smallpox vaccine is not to be recommended for HIV people, anyone on immunosuppressive drugs, or anyone with eczema The CDC quoted a new study in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, describing reactions that include blindness, scarring, and death. So the vaccine is therefore contraindicated in all these cases, according to the CDC.
"Eczema patients alone comprise half the US population. AIDS patients and those on immunosuppressive drugs add another significant proportion to the group of those who shouldn't be vaccinated.
"In addition, the omniscient media seem to have forgotten that most Americans over 31 years of age have already been vaccinated for smallpox, since the vaccine was only halted in 1971 in the US. Remember? So if the vaccine is supposed to work, then obviously these people will not need a new shot, right?
"Then who does that leave? Ten percent of the population would be a reasonable estimate.
"It's not much of a stretch to see how the threat of smallpox is a marketing tool, right out of classic Bernays Public Relations 101, that is being used to justify paying vaccine manufacturers $800 million for a vaccine that is unproven, untested, and contraindicated for 90% of the population.
"Why then are our new masters shrieking about the 280 million doses we need to protect the American people from this imminent bioterrorist threat?

In addition, it's well known in history that smallpox vaccinations in 19th century England caused cases of smallpox to skyrocket, from around 2,000 before vaccinations started to around 80,000 afterwards, which is why most European countries stopped vaccinating then and still don't to this day. Yet our completely untrustworthy Senate approved this measure by a vote of 90-9, approved certain jeopardy for the collective health of the American people simply for hefty campaign contributions from drug companies.
What's important to notice is that smallpox vaccination in the U.S. persisted another 30 years after the disease was at an incidence of practically zero. Again, the only source of death from smallpox in the U.S. for 30 years was from the vaccine itself. (Mendelsohn, p 232, World Book, 1994) [24, 25] (See thedoctorwithin, above).
It's difficult to discern which element of the Homeland Security legislation is actually the worst encroachment on the rapidly eroding independence of America's citizenry. One which has sparked much complaint is the removal of civil service protections for Homeland Security employees, to improve security aspects of America's "war on terror," according to President Bush. This assault of the well-being of American workers nullifies 70 years of battling for justice in the workplace. Another insulting aspect of the bill is a boondoggle "institute" at a Texas university near the president's ranch.
One glaring affront to hardworking Americans was a provision allowing companies that left the country to avoid federal taxes (think the Enron, Halliburton and Harken models) to be eligible for Homeland Security contracts. This is clearly a sop to the president's close friends, who do business in this exact manner. If the United States had an actual attorney general, he would have long ago investigated these criminal cheaters. John Ashcroft only persecutes those who threaten the profits of the American elite, as the mouldering, sabotaged probes into both the 9/11 horror and the anthrax murders clearly indicate. We desperately need an attorney general who will enforce the laws of the land and protect people, not this insane Pentacostal functionary who sole purpose seems to be to assist in the destruction of all Constitutional protections for average citizens.
Apart from these treasonous intrusions into the lives of ordinary people lurks America's new penchant for starting wars in various areas of the world for purposes that are kept hidden from the general public. The American mass murder in Afghanistan was ostensibly aimed at bringing to justice the alleged perpetrators of the 9/11 disasters in New York City and Washington. The aim of this mission failed and was forgotten. Now Afghanistan has degenerated into sheer murderous anarchy, drug-smuggling chaos now conveniently overlooked by the world's major newspapers, or consigned to the back pages. It is important to remember that this is what other countries in the world should look forward to experiencing after the U.S. decides its "war on terror" should cross their borders. What is happening in Afghanistan is what will happen in Iraq, followed by what will happen to other countries on the immediate U.S. hit list. What will be left of the world after that hit list is accomplished? Nothing but misery, rubble and heaps of innocent corpes, sanctified as the new American export.
And as the current Iraq saga meanders toward a new criminal conclusion, what are we to think of a world of spineless bureaucrats (including our own CIA), who for months protested that President Bush was clearly lying about his reasons to invade that desperate country, but eventually knuckled under to American pressure (read: were bribed into accepting) and joined the sick parade of "democratic" nations ready to once again sacrifice the Iraqi people for the sins of the Zionist petronazis.
In a country known around the world for the power of its democratic institutions to temper dictatorial impulses of its previous leaders, Homeland Security stands as a colossal betrayal of the peoples of the world, because it means that all of the lectures given by America over the years that democracy was the best way to govern are now exposed as cynical lies, convenient ruses used by American corporate shills to bleed other countries dry of their natural resources. Democracy in the United States clearly no longer works, evidenced by the fact that the opposition party — the Democrats, which crafted most of the Homeland Security bill — no longer opposes in any significant way the expansionist aims of its unelected, undemocratic dictator.
President George W. Bush is remarkable among American presidents for his distinctive lack of business and life achievements prior to assuming his office in Washington. All of his business enterprises were devious shell corporations sustained by his father's superrich friends. And now we have a government of just such a nature.
In addition, the second president Bush has "distinguished" himself for his record of allowing executions of mentally ill persons in Texas to prove his toughness about "law and order." Now innocent American people — as well as people all over the world — are about to learn what the people of Afghanistan have so recently and tragically learned: that no life is sacred if it stands in the way of schemes by the power elite to suck billions of dollars from a tottering economy.
Now, no one is safe from America's executioner par excellence. Just ask Paul Wellstone.
