The most successful tyranny is not the one that uses force to assure uniformity but the one that removes the awareness of other possibilities, that makes it seem inconceivable that other ways are viable, that removes the sense that there is an outside.

October 24, 2002- Earthquake Swarms in Taiwan? Have a look and see what you think...

Polling Organization Sets Sights on Government-Media Disinformation Poll results suggest public opinion polls don't reflect public's views - the Retro Poll organization has released results of a pilot poll on the War on Terrorism. Carried out between September 20 and October 6, the poll couples knowledge and opinion polling. The Retro Poll attempts to show that public opinion is molded by media misinformation and disinformation (propaganda). It addresses the question: does the public opinion reported in the usual major media polls reflect the true values and beliefs of those Americans polled, or not?

Results of the pilot poll of 150 people from 39 states support concerns that they do not. Retro Poll showed a link between misinformation on Iraq and support for a new U.S. war against that country. Question 6 on the poll asked: "Is there evidence that Saddam Hussein (of Iraq) worked with Al Qaeda?" 65 people said yes, 33 people said no, and 45 didn't know. Later the poll asked whether 5 different elements should be part of the war on terrorism. One of these elements was: Do you support or reject war against Iraq or other countries the U.S. labels as 'supporting terrorism' when they are not attacking anyone?" Those (33) who said there is little or no evidence that Iraq worked with Al Qaeda (a fact that Retro Poll fully documents on its web site at Retropoll.org) rejected an unprovoked war on Iraq by a 4:1 margin, while those (60) who said there is evidence that Iraq worked with Al Qaeda favored going to war now by 2:1, a highly significant difference.

This difference (4:1 opposed to war versus the 2:1 favoring war based upon the daily pronouncements of an unsubstantiated threat by government leaders) suggests that by continually highlighting Washington's viewpoint unchallenged, the news bureaus in the U.S. can change the facts in the minds of many Americans. The opinions formed from those unsubstantiated facts are then used by polling organizations to report back the values, ideas, and thinking of the public. [...]

In a series of opinion questions on Israel-Palestine 91.6% believe that suicide bombing is a terrorist act; 65.6% said that Israel's targeting Palestinian activists or leaders for assassination equates to State Terrorism. But asked whether, as Israel's chief sponsor, the U.S. might be held accountable for backing State Terrorism only 38.7% said yes. Finally respondents were asked whether they would support an American policy which required Israeli withdrawal from the occupied territories as a condition for continuing U.S. military and economic aid. 46% said yes, 32.4% said no and 21.6% gave no opinion.

At least 62 British citizens, 30 Americans and eight Frenchmen were members of al-Qa'ida before 11 September. Comment: Hmmm... Don't we just wonder who those Brits and Americans were? And what were they doing hanging with such a rough crowd? And isn't it strange that the Brits and US are the ones hollering the loudest about al Qaeda being just a bunch of skyscraper destroying terrorists... my my. Doesn't the plot thicken?

The book - by Ahmed Zeidan, a Syrian journalist who personally knew Bin Laden - contains a wealth of unpublished material on the Saudi billionaire blamed for the 11 September crimes against humanity. Mr Zeidan's investigations reveal there were 2,742 Afghan "Arabs" from al-Qa'ida – in other words, Muslims who had fought for Mr bin Laden – in Afghanistan during the Taliban erA: they included 62 Britons, 30 Americans, eight Frenchmen, 1,660 north Africans, 680 Saudis, 480 Yemenis, 430 Palestinians, 270 Egyptians, 520 Sudanese, 80 Iraqis, 33 Turks and 180 Filipinos. The Taliban,Mr Zeidan says, provided roughly the same breakdown.

Only 80 Iraqis? But aren't we going to bomb the Iraqi's back to the Stone Age for helping Bin Laden? Ooops! No, sorry. Lost my head there for a moment. We are going to bomb the Iraqis back to the Stone Age because they MIGHT, someday, develop the Bomb.

But what about the 1,660 North Africans? The 680 Saudis? And all the rest? Hmmm?

Coverage of the Washington sniper is a little excessive - The showdown over Iraq, a suicide bombing in Israel which in seconds killed more people than the Washington sniper in three weeks, not to mention the forthcoming knife-edge mid-term elections – forget about them. - Carnage on the streets of an Israeli city counts as nothing against a panning shot of an unoccupied bank of microphones at Montgomery County where Police Chief Charles Moose, now a national celebrity, might or might not be about to deliver his generally uninformative briefings. And what is a presidential ultimatum to the UN compared to the idle wittering of some retired FBI profiler, former police chief, child trauma counsellor, criminal psychiatrist or sundry other "expert" of whom America has inexhaustible quantities, whose standard opening line is "I don't want to speculate but ..." No hyperbole is too great. "A five-year-old boy is struggling with the nature of good and evil," intones the announcer ahead of a CNN news item, as if the entire drama of human existence throughout the ages was being played out in the pleasant and normally deadly dull suburbs of Washington. - Further magnifying the hysteria is the competition between the cable news channels. Once upon a time there was just CNN; now we have its upstart rival Fox, for whom there are few envelopes that cannot be pushed, and MSNBC, the cable arm of NBC. Mass murder is ratings nirvana. Comment: And that is just the way it was intended to be...

President Bush spending your Tax Dollars to make sure HIS cronies get elected! - President Bush has harnessed the broad resources of the federal government to promote Republicans in next month's elections. From housing grants in South Dakota and research contracts in Florida to Air Force One rides and photos in the White House driveway, Bush has made Republican success on Nov. 5 a government-wide project. More than 330 administration appointees, some of whom were told by White House officials that they needed to show their Republican credentials, have taken vacation time and are being flown by the party to House and Senate campaigns in states where control of Congress will be decided. The appointees will organize volunteers, work the phones and go door to door. Republicans see defeating Sen. Jean Carnahan (D-Mo.) as one of their best chances for retaking control of the Senate, and the White House has lavished aid on her challenger, former representative James M. Talent.

Scholars called Bush's partisan use of the government unprecedented for a midterm election, and said the aggressiveness and thoroughness of his politicking approached that of a presidential reelection campaign. The broad orchestration of executive branch activity to benefit campaigns was moved up to the midterm elections this year because of a confluence of history: a hairsbreadth margin of control in both chambers of Congress, the huge repercussions of tiny swings in a closely divided electorate, and the dawn of new campaign finance restrictions the day after the election.

A recent e-mail to the 6,100 full-time headquarters employees of the Environmental Protection Agency reminded them of the provisions of the Hatch Act, which was designed to protect federal employees from political pressure. But some employees said they were surprised by its emphasis on participating in, not abstaining from, campaign activities. The memo said they "are permitted to take an active part in partisan political management and campaigns," subject to limitations, and reminded them they are free to "express support for the president and his program" when they are off-duty.

Bobby L. Harnage Sr., president of the American Federation of Government Employees, the largest union of federal workers, said he has been hearing increasing complaints about what his members consider politicization of their work, and said the effect is dampened morale. He asserted that Republicans' use of the federal government is the most aggressive he has seen in 34 years as a union official. "Bush and his administration are making no attempt to cover up what they're doing," Harnage said.

Election-year politicking has been honed through many presidencies. In 1992, top aides to Bush's father held "funnel meetings" to dispatch federal largess to states with upcoming primaries. But longtime activists in both parties said this administration was setting a new standard.

At the same time, the Bush Regime is using other tactics to "stack the deck." Efforts by the Justice Department and the Republican Party to guard against voter fraud have ignited a long-smoldering dispute that could have an impact on close national elections less than two weeks away. The Republican Party has compiled a national database of 3,273 names of people who it says apparently voted more than once in the 2000 elections. It is turning the list over to local authorities for investigation and possible prosecution. But early looks at the data by state officials have found little evidence of multiple voting. - Attorney General John Ashcroft held a daylong ''Voting Integrity Symposium'' this month to train more than 300 representatives of FBI and U.S. attorney's offices across the nation ''to prevent election offenses and to bring violators to justice.'' - Some Democrats accuse the GOP of aiming to intimidate voters -- particularly minorities and new immigrants, who they believe lean Democratic. ''The last thing we need are partisan efforts that could make it harder for law-abiding citizens to vote on Election Day,'' said Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., chairman of the committee that oversees elections. The stakes are immense. Majorities in the House of Representatives and Senate hang on a handful of races scattered across the nation. Both parties say the outcome will hinge on who does the best job getting supporters to the polls. Comment: Yeah, right. This country is getting more and more like a Banana Republic every day.

The FBI sent out a national alert warning law enforcement officials that it believes al Qaeda may be planning another attack on the United States, possibly targeting the railway sector, the bureau said on Thursday. The FBI distributed the warning across the country on Wednesday, citing information from recent debriefings of detained al Qaeda members. It said the group has considered directly targeting U.S. passenger trains, possibly using operatives who have a Western appearance. "The U.S. intelligence community continues to assess that al Qaeda plans to attack targets that they believe will be readily recognized as representing U.S. economic interests," the FBI said. "Additional information suggests operatives may try a variety of other attack strategies such as destroying key rail bridges and sections of track to cause derailments or targeting hazardous material containers." Comment: In other words, watch out! Bush and the Warmongers are going to get additional support from the National Security State masquerading as al Qaeda again...

An epidemic of smallpox hysteria has broken out -- again. Feeding the frenzy is the Bush administration’s recent announcement that the smallpox vaccine will be made available to the public. Concern over the possibility of terrorist attacks involving biological agents—especially the smallpox virus—is developing into full-fledged hysteria. Sen. Bill Frist claimed last week that a smallpox attack could kill 40 million Americans. - The CDC researchers say smallpox appears much less infectious than commonly thought. This assessment calls into question the widely publicized results of last summer’s bio-terrorism war game called "Dark Winter" – a primary rationale for the current scare mongering. - The Bush administration’s top expert on smallpox, Dr. D.A. Henderson, leader of the successful global smallpox eradication effort 25 years ago, knows a bioterror attack with smallpox is unlikely.

Hurricane Kenna on Thursday grew into one of the strongest hurricanes to menace Mexico's Pacific coast in decades. Forecasters urged urgent emergency action in an area that includes major tourist resorts, though the storm was veering away from a Baja California summit of world leaders.

An elite Israeli military unit entered a Palestinian refugee camp Wednesday and arrested two wanted Palestinians, triggering a gun battle between the Israeli forces and Palestinians in the area, the Israel Defense Forces said. Comment: A refugee camp that would not exist full of people who would not be refugees if an Israeli state had not been illegally created, taking over the land of the Palestinians, on which they have lived for hundreds, if not thousands of years.

Jewish version: As the troops were leaving, Palestinian gunmen opened fire from "a few different directions" and activated an explosive device at the entry of the building where the Israeli forces were exiting, the IDF said. The Israeli soldiers fired back.

Palestinian version: the Israeli forces left an explosives-laden car in the camp that exploded after they left, wounding 14 Palestinians, including two seriously.

The Jews, of course, denied the Palestinian version. The IDF confirmed there was a "big explosion" north of the camp but the cause of the explosion was not immediately known and added that it has nothing to do with the incident and that none of their forces was near the area at the time.

Comment: Yeah, well they're never "near" anything when it happens even if their fingerprints are all over it.

US Middle East envoy William Burns told the Palestinians they will only achieve statehood through ending violence and overhauling their administration, as Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian child in the West Bank. Ahmed Jafar, 13, died after being hit in the chest when a crowd of Palestinians youths pelted an Israeli armoured column with stones, as around 20 Israeli vehicles entered the northern town of Jenin, Palestinian officials said. Meanwhile Burns, on a Middle East tour to push an international peace "roadmap," said Washington "wants to end the very real suffering and humiliation that the Palestinians experience every day."

Comment: Now, let me get this straight: the Palestinians HAD a country until Britain and the US took it away from them and illegally gave it to the Jews. Then, the Palestinians protested about being turned into refugees in their own country, and were suppressed. In response to this suppression, they got agitated and tried to bring attention to their cause - which is admittedly RIGHT. And now, they are being told that they won't have a smidgen of their OWN land back if they don't stop protesting the fact that the whole thing has been violently taken away from them by a bunch of Jewish Nazis playing into the hands of the Illuminati agenda?

Russia and France block US draft resolution on Iraq - Yesterday, ambassadors of the five permanent members – Britain, the US, France, China and Russia – held fresh negotiations. But the real question is how much longer the US is prepared to wait, whether it will make further concessions, or simply table the new resolution and dare critics to use their veto. "If the United Nations can't make its mind up, if Saddam Hussein won't disarm, we will lead a coalition to disarm him for the sake of peace," President George Bush repeated during a mid-term election campaign stop. His spokesman, Ari Fleischer, was more explicit: "It's coming down to the end ... the United Nations does not have forever."

Chechen gunmen who have been holding 700 hostages in a Moscow theatre for more than 24 hours have fired bazookas at two women who escaped.

Astronomer sees black hole eat star - It began like a routine measurement on a quasar, a somewhat boring look at the emissions from a distant, early galaxy -- but it turned out that the graduate student was actually watching a black hole swallow part of a star. It looked like the quasar was ejecting a cloud of matter at a speed of 3,700 miles per second (6,000 kms per second), Ma said in a statement. "This leads me to think it's the signature of a star that's been ripped apart by the black hole's gravity." "Half of the star's matter fell into the black hole, and the other half was ejected in a gravitational sling-shot." Quasars are bright smears of light so distant in space and time that astronomers think they are early galaxies formed when the universe, which is expanding, was young. They are believed to have black holes at their centers. Black holes are objects so dense that they suck in just about everything around them with their huge gravitational fields. But usually their "victims" are ripped apart in the process, ejecting part of their matter at high speeds that create radiation that can be seen from the distant Earth. Or at least theoretically, that is what happens.

C's on Quasars:

Q: (L) Is the binary system in the eye of the Gorgon in the constellation Perseus, which is a star named Algol, one which contains a star and a black hole?
A: Quasars determine these. [Black holes.]

Q: (A) Can space with fractal properties, non-differentiable structure, non-smooth structure, be used to derive Schroedinger equation and quantum theory like the Nottale is proposing in some of his papers?
A: Close.
Q: (A) What is incorrect? Why is it only close?
A: Light bends at intervals. Look to the quasar for the clue.

As we expected, the announcement that we are initiating a fund raising drive to acquire a Home for the Quantum Future School has brought the COINTELPRO operatives slithering out of the woodwork. Readers of the Cass site who participate in other groups or message boards have been seeing a disturbing new wave of postings around the net that exactly fit Dolan's description of the program. As we have written in our article To Be, or Not To Be, the most well known and typical activities include sending anonymous or fictitious letters designed for various defamatory purposes, publishing false defamatory or threatening information, forging signatures on fake documents, introducing disruptive and subversive members into organizations to destroy them from within, and so on. Blackmailing insiders in any group to force them to spread false rumors, or to foment factionalism was also common.

COINTELPRO also concentrates on creating bogus organizations which serve such functions as attacking and/or disrupting bona fide groups, or even just simply creating a diversion with clever propaganda in order to attract members away in order to involve them with time-wasting activity so as to prevent them from doing anything useful. COINTELPRO was also famous for instigation of hostile actions through third parties.

Naturally, since we have never had anything to say about any of these other groups, organizations, or individuals UNLESS - and only AFTER - they have initiated their attacks of COINTELPRO style lies and defamation against us, again we can only think that such activity fits the model of COINTELPRO - which is to prevent bona fide research from going forward, and most definitely to prevent seekers from discovering anything of value or truth in regards to the present global situation that is clearly created and "stage managed" for the benefit of a small coterie of elitists.

As our world careens on a path toward destruction, the chaos increases in the continuing break-down of our institutions, including science. Just recently, one of the things that contributed to our decision to leave the United States was the fact that the LANL depository of physics research has been taken over by a "committee" at Cornell U. This "committee" has absolute control over what papers are accepted and what papers are not accepted. To our personal knowledge, certain individuals who have been doing innovative research, have been informed that their papers will no longer be accepted without "big name" sponsorship. We have seen how this "sponsorship" is tending toward the "approved" lines of research, few - if any - of which have led to any breakthroughs in science over the past 100 years. In short, there is a "lockdown" on science. We can't say for sure that it is as a result of the Bush Agenda, but it is certainly curious that it is happening in concert with the lockdown of so many other things in the USA.

Things are bad everywhere, but a recent revelation in Europe gives hope that the nonsense is going to be exposed:

We all laughed when Alan Sokal wrote a deliberately silly paper entitled "Transgressing the Boundaries: Towards a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity", and managed to get it accepted by a refereed journal of social and cultural studies, Social Text. But now I hear that two brothers have managed to publish 3 meaningless papers in physics journals as a hoax - and even get Ph.D. degrees in physics from Bourgogne University in the process! The theses are available in PDF format online, at least for now: Igor Bogdanov ETAT TOPOLOGIQUE DE L'ESPACE TEMPS A ECHELLE 0

Grichka Bogdanov FLUCTUATIONS QUANTIQUES DE LA SIGNATURE DE LA METRIQUE A L'ECHELLE DE PLANCK (Quantum fluctuations of the signature of the metric at the Planck scale)

They have also published at least four papers based on their theses.

Igor's thesis director was Daniel Sternheimer, and the "rapporteuers" were Roman Jackiw of MIT, and Jack Morava of John Hopkins.

Grichka's thesis director was Daniel Sternheimer, and the "rapporteuers" were Shahn Majid of Cambridge University, Costas Kounnas of the Ecole Normale Superieure, and Dmitiri Gurevitch of Valenciennes University.

The reader may recall our report on the Clifford Algebra conference back in May, which mentions Shahn, a very nice and bright man.

The rumor in the scientific community is that Igor and Grichka Bogdanov, journalists and science fiction writers, both in their late 40's, began by interviewing a number of prominent French string theorists to master the jargon. After writing these papers, to prepare the ground for their thesis defense they spread rumors that they were geniuses and their theses were a milestone in theoretical physics. For their thesis defense they rented a hall in the prestigeous Ecole Polytechnique, arranged a big dinner with the president, invited the TV, ... and passed.

The abstracts are gibberish even if they do utilize the standard buzzwords. The journal articles make for rather strange reading (you can easily get ahold of them, because they are appended to the PDF files containing the theses). Some parts almost seem to make sense, but the more carefully you read them, the less sense they make.

What seems to be so is that the Tom Bearden/ Dan Winter School of Physics has finally gone too far...

Stephen Parrott, obviously not part of the committee at Cornell, comments on the problem in science, which is basically the problem in all areas of our society - lies get more play than truth:

The literature in this field is shockingly unreliable. The calculations are often complicated, subtle, and tedious. I think that many papers have probably never been carefully checked. In my experience, 1/3 to 1/2 of all published papers in this field contain fundamental errors.

The only way to be sure of a claim, proof, or calculation is to check it oneself. Since so few are interested in this field, there are probably only a handful of people in the world with the expertise to do this relatively easily. [Note: This is what Ark does, repeatedly, when bold claims are made by the scientists of COINTELPRO]

Certain papers which are badly in error have been widely cited for many years and continue to be cited. These tend to be papers by "big names" or papers favorably referenced by Big Names.

It is difficult to get errors in the literature corrected. In principle, the authors should publish an errata when a significant error is discovered, but few do. Nobody likes to admit mistakes.

A polite letter to an author questioning specific points in their work is, in my experience, likely to be simply ignored. One example of this (of which several which could be given), can be found in Section 6.2 of www.arxiv.org/gr-qc/9308023. [This has been Ark's experience also. If requests are not ignored, very often, the author - knowing he has been caught in his errors - will become rude and insulting. We have several examples of this published on the site.]

I recently discovered crippling errors in two other complicated, oft-cited works which I took time to read in detail. The errors are so deeply embedded in the complicated calculations that only someone intimately familiar with the work would be able to understand the objections. In practice, that usually means only the author.

I haven't written the authors about them, and I probably won't. It would require days of work to compose a letter with detailed explanations, a letter which experience suggests would most likely be ignored.

It would require even more work to prepare a paper pointing out the errors. Moreover, I doubt that such a paper would have much chance of being published. Indeed, the referee might well be the author of the questioned work. I have certain knowledge of one case in which this occurred, and I doubt that it is rare.

So, it's "let the reader beware". It shouldn't be that way, but it is. I'm not sure what to do about it. One possibility would be for the arXiv to allow comments on papers to be linked to the paper. For example, if Professor A whom one knows to be serious and competent attached a comment like "I have read this paper carefully and believe it to be sound", that could be a big help to potential readers. If Professor B of similar reputation attached a comment like "I wasn't able to verify equation (42), and the author has ignored inquiries about it", that could also be useful information. Indeed, I would assign more credibility to comments like those of Professor A than to mere acceptance in a journal under current standards. Professor A would have put his reputation on the line, unlike anonymous referees.

Killings in townships at a high Sheriff's jurisdiction has had 30 homicides in 2002, and crack isn't the culprit this time. - Thirty people have died violently this year in the suburban townships that ring Indianapolis, the most killings ever faced by the Marion County Sheriff's Department. The record was set Thursday when the detectives investigating two child-abuse cases added those victims to their homicide list. The old record was set in 1997 as the county confronted an epidemic of crack cocaine. But Sheriff Jack Cottey says the rash of killings this year is harder to explain -- and perhaps less preventable, because a dozen of the deaths were a result of domestic or family disputes. "Most of them knew each other," he said. "And I think a lot of it is, people don't seem to value other people's lives."

Yesterday we published a link to an article about the recent Earthquake Swarms in Great Britain which began with the first one right after the Autumn Equinox. Then we noted a following earthquake in Alaska. A reader of the site has sent in additional "earthquake swarm" information.

Right now, it looks like there are swarms covering a huge area in Alaska, and at the same time there are swarms in California. This has been happening for at least the last week. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/

The entire Pacfic coast from shore to shore has been shaking a lot over the last month. Mag 4 and up are prevelent, plus lots of smaller ones. And there have been some very deep quakes (300km+) off the coast of Australia, in the area of Fiji, etc, recently, this week even. http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/current/world.html

Relationships for this week:

Swarms in Manchester today (M 3.9 two days ago) , and then a big M 6.7 quake in Alaska today. Kermadic Islands (S.Pacific) experienced a M 5.0 today and Fiji with a M 6.2 yesterday. http://www.aeic.alaska.edu/ http://www.aeic.alaska.edu/denali_quake_2002/Denali2002.html http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/current/world.html

If you look at the world.html link and click the "last 30 days" button it shows a large number of quakes of all mags all over the world. Just bunches and bunches of them.

I went to this page http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/qed/qed.html and looked at anything repeating that stands out. I find that Spain, Greece, France, Italy, Alaska, Polynesia, Solomon Islands, and California, have all had a significant number of quakes in the last month. I'd call that swarming based on the number in each region. Then I looked for anything around M 7.0 and above and find 6.9 in W.Brasil, and a 6.7 in Indonesia, plus the 6.7 in Alaska today.

All the quakes over 7.0 this year (10 so far) have happened on the opposite side of the Pacific from Calif., in the south. http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/bulletin/mag7.html

There are SO many quakes happening, small repeatedly shaking areas such as France, but only a few large ones in the same 30 day time frame. But what does it mean? One area shakes repeatedly, then some other places shake once really hard. There is probably some sort of pattern there. Lots of events in one place, then a big event in another place. Not regular pattern match, but over time it happens.

Another relation I found, this time last year, in a month time spread more or less:

Colorado - August/September 2001 - Swarms in Trindad, Colorado http://geology.cr.usgs.gov/pub/open-file-reports/ofr-02-0073/ofr-02- 0073. html

A swarm of 12 widely felt earthquakes occurred between August 28 and September 21, 2001, in the area west of the town of Trinidad, Colorado. The earthquakes ranged in magnitude between 2.8 and 4.6, and the largest event occurred on September 5, eight days after the initial M 3.4 event.

Virgin Islands - October 16 2001 - Massive swarm around Puerto Rico http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/special/virgin_islands.html The

USGS/National Earthquake Information Center and the University of Puerto Rico have located 15 earthquakes of magnitude greater than 4.0 in a region that is centered approximately 100 km north of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, in the period from October 16 through mid- day October 23. The largest two earthquakes had magnitudes of 6.0 and 5.7 respectively. The largest earthquakes have been felt in Puerto Rico. Many shocks smaller than 4.0 have also been recorded by seismographs of the University of Puerto Rico.

Report from Reader in Moscow: Following the worldwide series of terror acts, Moscow again joins the record. Last saturday a parked car full of explosives had blown near McDonald's cafe on the southwest of the city, injuring 7 people, 1 died later in the hospital. I was at home when I heard the news on the TV, and it IS pretty scary, 'cause the site of explosion was about 100 meters from the bus station where I take my bus daily on my way home. Pure luck, if you ask me...

And yesterday at 9 p.m. a group of 40 men and women in military suits and black masks have taken hundreds of hostages at one of the moscow theaters. People came to see the "Nord Ost" musical, and at the middle of performance, the armed terrorists rushed in firing automatic weapons. They claimed that they were Chechens and that they want the armed forces out of Chechnya; that they wanted to stop the war and keep the peace.

The armed men and women had explosives tied around their bodies. They released 30 children but there are others still kept inside. They also started to place mines all around the builduing and warned the special forces to stay away from the builduing. Unconfirmed reports say that there are 3 German and 3 British citizens among the hostages.

As of now (9 a.m. local time) the situation remains very unstable. There is no info about casualties but the few escapees told the press that they saw blood on the floor in the hall of the theater. Personally, I never felt very safe in this big city, I feel even less so now. At this stage things look ominous, I cant see Putin ordering the troops to withdraw. A chronology of events

Report from Bulgaria: I have additional information (classified by me as a rumor) that the "funds" backing up the terrorist attack in Russia are from North America ... The official version says:

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during the meeting with the representatives from various Russian security agencies that the terrorist act in Moscow has been planned in one of the terrorist centers abroad.

According to the President, it was in one of the foreign terrorist centers where the planning has been done and the terrorists have been selected specifically to conduct this act of terror in Moscow.

"The first pieces of information announced by the terrorists, who captured a group of hostages in Moscow, were received from abroad," said Vladimir Putin. "This fact confirms once again that the terrorist act has been planned in one of the terrorist centers abroad."

"Nobody doubts the fact that those are the same terrorists who have been terrorizing the Chechnya population for many years and now, all of a sudden, they call for the cease of combat actions there," stated the President. "They were spreading death and destruction in Chechnya and in the surrounding areas, but this time they want to do it even further away from their native territory," he also emphasized.

In addition, Vladimir Putin stressed that " the main goal of the police and security forces while planning and conducting the ongoing anti-terrorist operation should be to release hostages with minimum harm."

The curious thing is - on yesterday's Signs report: Only one paragraph under the paragraph stating "20 armed men seized a Moscow theater in ..." we read: "Russia rejected the new U.S. draft resolution on Iraq Tuesday, ..." What do you think?

Report from Reader in AustraliA: There was an Islamic scholar on ABC radio downunder who was referring to the Al Quaeda "franchise" and how it was ridiculous linking every crime to this one cell in Afghanistan. He's probably right, these things - whoever is behind it - seem to have a mind of their own which tend to self replicate relatively easily. For the first time that I can remember, two days ago I actually realised how bad things in the news were.It was just varying degrees of BAD.... Downunder the Govt slipped through the legislation establishing the new Australian Crime Commision replacing the National Crime Authority, plus an ASIO amendment bill.

Reader sends in article from Washington post and comments: I am reading this article and it seems rather blatant to me that this phrase must contain trigger words for mind-control programmed zombies! Yikes!! Will it escalate further?? Here is the excerpt:

Police sources said yesterday that in one of a flurry of contacts -- including phone calls and two letters that made references to "we" and "us" -- the sniper made a number of demands for money and at least one curious request. Moose responded with a direct statement last night.

"We understand that you communicated with us by calling several different locations," Moose said. "Our inability to talk has been a concern for us, as it has been for you. You have indicated that you want us to do and say certain things. You asked us to say, 'We have caught the sniper like a duck in a noose.'

"We understand that hearing us say this is important to you. However, we want you to know how difficult it has been to understand what you want because you have chosen to use only notes, indirect messages and calls to other jurisdictions."

The duck reference apparently is drawn from a folk tale in which a boastful rabbit tries to catch a duck in a noose. The duck appears to be caught but flies off, dragging the rabbit along with him. The rabbit then tumbles into a tree stump, where he is stranded.

Keystone Cops on the trail of a ..... Muhammad. A muslim who also happens to be a trained killer and disgruntaled ex-soldier. How convenient for them. The investigators seem to be so muddled now that they probably wouldn't even see a convenient 'setup' if they tripped over one.

The first thing that came through my mind after reading this, is that the two guys they have caught are sheep-dipped and they were telling the "sniper" to stop, capture was eminent, don't blow things. It is observations like this that will dissapear from the mental landscape as the machine lumbers along to its destination...jeeze, there is even reference to the tree stump.

Another reader responds: i can imagine their programming: "when you hear the following phrase, you will drive to such and such an exit on such and such a highway, go to sleep and wait...", and then conveniently, "an observant citizen" (read another handler) spots the license number and calls 911...how rich...we see this sort of scenario, but yet the only person i have heard voice an opinion that was anywhere close was on talk radio locally this morning. The caller simply stated that it seemed like a set up to him and that just perhaps others were also involved...the local talk show "host" ridiculed the man's opinion.

IMO, the sniper episode has been a diversion/development within the main post 9/11 theme and will have political ramifications, many of which have already been noted. MSNBC is giving a background on John Allan Mohammed with an amazing amount of detail, i guess they got his resume...the other part of their "coverage" is focussing on the technical aspects: the customized anatomy of the 1990 Chevrolet Caprice; graphics of the rifle; experts explaining the military firearms qualification procedure and standards; and of course, quickly shifting video of this morning's activities with live shots of black suburbans wheeling the culprits to the court... imagine the shock value if sniping resumes??....i am still going to pay attention to Indianapolis... i hear southern france is particularly beautiful this time of year...

A Bushmaster .223-caliber rifle was recovered from the vehicle impounded during the overnight arrest of two suspects in the Washington-area sniper case, a law enforcement source told CNN Thursday. Comment: A "Bushmaster?" How fitting...

Reader from Ireland reports: The evidence is slowly appearing, but will people make the connection? Check out the dates they give further down..perhaps what they are missing is that we get 300 years worth of flooding in about 3 years, along with a few tsunamis caused by..? Here is the forecast: Wet, then dry for 3,000 years The fact is, it is starting ALREADY: Snow and rains hit north-east Scotland - The worst rain and October winds since records began hit the north- east of Scotland yesterday, less than 24 hours after torrential rain swept across the south and central parts of the country.

Save Florida from Katherine Harris - Remember Katherine Harris? She was the secretary of state for Florida who decided that a recount wasn't necessary, although that's the standard practice in any other close election. She was the secretary of state that purged over 50,000 qualified black voters from the rolls before the election. The Bush family is trying to pay back Harris' "favor" by giving her a Congressional seat in Florida. They've raised a ton of money. They've sent Jeb Bush to stump for her. However, it's not working. Jan Schneider is running a great race against Harris and the vote is going to be incredibly close. Support Jan Schneider against Katherine Harris.

More on Earthquake Swarms from another reader: super-swarm" of earthquakes offshore Tokyo that struck in the summer of 2000. In the super-swarm of earthquakes the authors studied, a staccato-like burst of 7,000 magnitude-3 or larger shocks occurred over 2 months about 100 miles south of Tokyo, underneath the Pacific Ocean. There were 45 magnitude-5 shocks and 5 magnitude-6 shocks.

The energy released by this swarm was almost ten times greater than the 1980-81 Long Valley, Calif., swarm.

Swarms are most common in volcanic areas, such as in Hawaii, the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Yellowstone, and parts of northern and southern California. However, such swarms also may occur on tectonic faults, including California's famed San Andreas. Why swarms occur has always been a mystery.

The results of their investigation enabled the researchers to infer, with highly accurate data, that the Izu swarm was caused by a blade- like injection of molten rock into the earth's crust over a distance of about 10 miles long and 10 miles deep. Although the magma did not reach the earth's surface, the blade -- or dike -- was forced open by the magma pressure a massive 65 feet. In comparison, the amount of magma injected beneath Long Valley caldera in 1980-81 was one-tenth this amount, Stein noted.

The Izu islands, said Stein, moved 3 feet apart as molten rock was forced into a vertical conduit beneath Miyake volcano. Then the magma burst a wall of the conduit like a ruptured artery, and magma was injected into the crust in a thin, blade-like shape, extending 10 miles to the northwest in one week.

Unlike a 'standard' earthquake, in seismic swarms, the seismic clock is rolling along at a thousand times its normal rate, triggering earthquakes as far away as 25 miles from the dike," Stein said. "The distribution of earthquakes in a swarm is related to the stress of the dike opening and forced expansion by magma." http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2002-09/usgs-nef082902.php

20 armed men seized a Moscow theater in the middle of a performance on Wednesday, firing shots into the air and taking the audience hostage, the Federal Security Service said. The gunmen, some of them wearing explosives, demanded an end to the war in Chechnya and began laying mines in the building, according to news reports.

REGIME CHANGE BEGINS AT HOME - VOTE! - We've said it before, and we'll say it again: the Bush Administration is brilliant at marketing. No Presidency has relied more on careful messaging and media placement. The folks that are working for Bush are so good at this that if you watch the news, you get the idea that everyone agrees with him. Of course, we all know that that's not true. Most Americans are quite wary of the war on Iraq, and a whole lot of us see the President as playing a cynical election-year game. The problem is that without the attention of the media, this dissent is hard to see -- ordinary people don't hold press conferences to tell the world what they're thinking. That's where we need your help. We've put together a placard that you can put in your car window. Here's what it looks like: "Regime Change Begins at Home. Vote." You can download the placard for free.

Russia rejected the new U.S. draft resolution on Iraq Tuesday, dealing a sharp blow to American efforts to gain U.N. backing for the automatic use of force if weapons inspectors are thwarted by Baghdad. Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov's statement said the U.S. document failed to meet Russian criteria. His comments to Russian reporters were the Kremlin's first official reaction to the U.S. proposal presented on Monday to the other four permanent members of the Security Council. "The American draft resolution...does not answer the criteria which the Russian side laid out earlier and which it confirms today," Ivanov was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency.

Strong earthquake with magnitude 6.2 hits near Denali National Park, jolting much of Alaska. - In Healy, just north of the park, Grandview Bed and Breakfast co-owner Shelly Acteson said the quake knocked just about everything off her walls and shelves and was frighteningly loud. "Usually they kind of roll, you can kind of hear them coming," she said. "This one sounded like it was kind of mad — boom, boom, boom." - The "Good Friday" earthquake in Alaska that left 131 people dead in 1964 measured 8.5 on the now-abandoned Richter scale — 9.2 by the current measurement system — and was centered in Prince William Sound near Anchorage.

CIA Is Expanding Domestic Operations - The CIA's domestic field offices recruit foreigners living temporarily in the United States -- for example, scientists at universities, diplomats at embassies and business executives -- to work as agents for the CIA when they return home. They also conduct voluntary debriefings of Americans, mainly business executives and academics, who have recently returned from abroad. The division also is responsible for handling some defectors and for limited counterintelligence targeting. Comment: Gee, this sounds like the Gestapo in Germany, or the KGB in the former Soviet Union...

President Bush signed into law a bill giving him the tools he wants to wage an expensive, no-end-in-sight global fight against terror and possibly Saddam Hussein. "Our nation faces grave new dangers, and our nation must fully support the men and women of our military who confront these dangers on our behalf," Bush said. The legislation provides a hefty increase in defense spending and financing for military construction projects in 2003. "The bill says America is determined and resolute to not only defend our freedom but to defend freedom around the world, that we're determined and resolute to answer the call to history and that we will defeat terror," Bush said. [...] The $355.4 billion defense bill, increases spending by more than $34 billion over the previous fiscal year. "It's the largest increase in defense spending since President Reagan was the president," Bush said Tuesday. "Any time the United States of America sends our youngsters into harm's way they deserve the best pay, the best training and the best possible equipment. ... It doesn't matter how long it takes to defend freedom, we'll do it. ... We have a duty to future generations of Americans to make this land secure."

Comment: Unfortunately, Bush's plans do not include any future generations of ordinary Americans - just future generations of the elite who he believes will survive the global holocaust he is planning, along with the upcoming cataclysms, in their Underground Bunkers that have been being prepared for this moment for the past 50 years.

What are the Koreans saying? The U.S. ruling quarters are now resorting to highhanded practices and war to retrieve their foreign and domestic policy setbacks. They should stop such criminal attempts and behave themselves, lending an ear to the demand of the world people for peace. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article as regards the strong-arm policy still pursued by the United States in the international arena in a bid to dominate the world.

Sales of an identification chip intended to be implanted in a person's body will resume immediately now that the US Food and Drug Administration (news - web sites) (FDA) has completed its review of the device, the chip's maker Applied Digital Solutions Inc. announced Tuesday. The company made headlines this spring after a Florida family became the first ever to be implanted with VeriChip. The device, about the size of a grain of rice, is implanted under the skin and works by emitting a radio frequency that transmits a unique verification number.

Comment: Where are the Fundies when the very things they have been ranting about for the past 100 years or more actually begin to happen in front of our eyes? Well, obviously, the "enemy" or the "Beast" has to be "over there" or "according" to their own ideas. The shaping up of our reality with America as the Beast Empire and George Bush as the False Prophet, is in our faces here and now. Let's have a quick look at what the Fundies own "sacred scriptures" predict:

Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first, the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, who is the son of doom. Who opposes and exalts himself so proudly and insolently against and over all that is called God or that is worshipped, taking his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming that he himself is God. And now you know what is preventing him being revealed, so that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work in the world, but it is concealed only until he who conceals is taken out of the way... And then the lawless one will be revealed and the Lord will slay him with the breath of his mouth and bring him to an end... The coming of the lawless one is through the activity and working of Satan and will be attended by great power and with all sorts of pretended miracles and signs and wonders and delusive marvels - all of them lying wonders - And by unlimited seduction to evil with all wicked deception for those who are perishing because they did not welcome the Truth, but refused to love it...Therefore, God sends upon them a misleading influence, a working of error and a strong delusion to make them believe what is false, in order that all may be judged and conedemned who did not believe in the Truth... [ II Thessalonians, 2:2 thru 12, excerpts, Amplified, Zondervan]

Comment: I can sure see the present situation, including the silence and delusion of the vast majority of Christians, in the above "prophecy." And it certainly goes with some things the C's have said about " Denver Reveals the Government." As most of you know, Denver is the seat of NORAD and some major underground base activity. We can see George Bush as the puppet of the "Lawless One," and we suspect that the remark "it is concealed only until he who conceals is taken out of the way... And then the lawless one will be revealed and the Lord will slay him with the breath of his mouth and bring him to an end" just might have something to do with cataclysmic activities that will bring to the awareness of people the REAL plans of the Global Elite, as they are being put into motion by George Bush.

Humans take up 83 percent of the Earth's land surface to live on, farm, mine or fish, leaving just a few areas pristine for wildlife, according to a new report this week. People also have taken advantage of 98 percent of the land that can be farmed for rice, wheat or corn, said the report, produced by scientists from the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and Columbia University's Center for International Earth Science Information Network in New York.

Another tremor hit Manchester on Wednesday taking the number of quakes to shake the region to 19. - The earthquakes are part of an unusual phenomenon called "earthquake swarms". Whilst earthquake swarms are unusual, they have occurred before in the UK. Comment: Can any reader find out for us here when and where other such "swarms" have taken place? Exact dates and coordinates?

Two Galleria-area hotels have canceled reservations of Falun Gong practitioners in Houston to demonstrate against Chinese President Jiang Zemin when he visits here this week. "I don't understand what the problem is," said Lisa Nappi, a Falun Gong practitioner from Virginia. "This is America. This is a free land." Practitioners from around the world have come to Houston to peacefully protest what they consider Jiang's attempt to eliminate their belief system. They say the Chinese government pressured the hotels to cancel their reservations because Jiang does not like Falun Gong. The hoteliers said the Chinese government did not contact them.

Former CIA Chief Richard Helms Dies - the spymaster who led the CIA through some of its most difficult years and was later fired by President Nixon when he refused to block an FBI (news - web sites) probe into the Watergate scandal, is dead. He was 89. Helms played a critical role in many of the CIA's most controversial and troubling operations, from plotting the assassinations of foreign leaders such as Fidel Castro to overthrowing the Marxist government of Chilean President Salvador Allende Gossens. After studiously living most of his life out of the public eye, Helms would come to see his name linked to many of his agency's most nefarious abuses, embarrassments and illegal activities. - Helms headed Operation Chaos, which spied on, poked into and disrupted the private lives of U.S. citizens as the CIA improperly investigated whether the increasingly energetic and powerful anti-Vietnam War movement had links to foreign countries. Under Nixon, the CIA's role in domestic spying hovered on the extreme edge of the agency's charter and at times crossed over into activities that were clearly illegal, author Thomas Powers wrote in his authoritative 1979 book about Helms, "The Man Who Kept the Secrets." By the mid-1970s it had become clear that Helms had intentionally misled Senate committees investigating the agency. Helms defended his testimony by maintaining that his mission was to protect intelligence secrets and that he'd not been obliged to tell the truth to Senate committees that held no CIA oversight power.

Pilotless United States surveillance aircraft scour the trackless, desolate sands of the vast Arabian desert known as the Empty Quarter looking for signs that operatives of Al Qaeda have sought refuge among the nomadic tribes there, according to senior Yemeni officials. Comment: Are they anything like the "pilotless" aircraft that struck the Pentagon?

Fact sheet: What is known about the sniper - Fourteen shots have been linked to the sniper. Ten people have been killed and three wounded. In the first shooting incident October 2, no one was hurt. The killer may be driving a light-colored van or truck with a ladder rack on the roof. Investigators found a spent shell and a tarot card in a wooded area around the October 7 shooting of a boy at a Bowie, Maryland, middle school. The tarot's "death" card had a handwritten message on it: "Dear Policeman, I am God." The killer seems to favor suburban gas stations. The sniper also has struck four times at shopping centers. The shooter appears to choose victims near major thoroughfares, such as Interstate 95, that he can use to make a quick getaway. The shooter is using a high-powered .223-caliber assault rifle or hunting rifle accurate up to 730 yards. All of the deaths have been caused by a single shot -- "one shot, one victim," in sniper's parlance.

Q: (T) OK, the question is, is the fellow that just shot three professors in San Diego, ...because he was afraid they would throw his thesis away ...as he a Greenbaum?
A: Yes.
Q: (T) Why did they turn him 'on' at that point?
A: Not correct concept. What if: those programmed in the so called "Greenbaum" projects are preprogrammed to "go off" all at once, and some "malfunction," and go off early? ... The programming is mainly intended to produce erratic behavior, for the purpose of “spooking” the population so that they will welcome, and even demand, a totalitarian government. ...Think of the persons who have inexplicably entered various public and private domains, and shot large numbers of people... Now, you have “met” some of these Greenbaum subjects... Now, some history... as you know, the CIA and NSA and other agencies are the children of Nazi Gestpo... the SS, which was experiment influenced by Antareans who were practicing for the eventual reintroduction of the nephalim on to 3rd and or 4th density earth. And the contact with the “Antareans” was initiated by the Thule Society, which groomed its dupe subject, Adolph Hitler to be the all time mind programmed figurehead. Now, in modern times, you have seen, but so far, on a lesser scale: Oswald, Ruby, Demorenschildt, Sirhan Sirhan, James Earl Ray, Arthur Bremer, Farakahan, Menendez, Bundy, Ramirez, Dahmer, etc... You must know that Oswald was programmed to be the “patsy.” So that he would say many contradictory things. Demorenschildt was both a programmer and programmed. Ruby was hypnoticaly programmed to shoot Oswald. With an audio prompt, that being the sound of a car horn.
Q: (L) Is there some way or means that one can distinguish or discern a victim of Greenbaum or other mind programming by some clues?
A: Not until it is too late.
Q: (V) I’d like to know if any Presidents have been Greenbaumed? (L) Well, we know some probably have!
A: Yes. ...Remember, the “Greenbaum method” is one of many in existence.
Q: (L) You are just making my night! (S) I don't want to sound paranoid, but all the reports about mind programming... is it as widespread as we have been lead to believe? That it could be the guy next door, and a certain color, or word or sound could set them off? (L) What is the percentage of programmed people?
A: 2 out of every 100.
Q: (L) How many are programmed by human means?
A: 12 per cent of the .02 per cent.
Q: (L) So, out of every 1,000 people, there are 20 that are programmed, and 2 of these are programmed by humans, as in 4th density STS?
A: Understand that 4th density is physical, indeed. You are drifting further and further toward an ethereal only perception/theoretical position.
Q: (L) You are saying that the humans working on these kinds of things... and...
A: No, Laura, we are saying that there is really a very strong "nuts and bolts" reality to this phenomenon, and don't ignore it!

An unusually powerful electronic attack briefly crippled nine of the 13 computer servers that manage global Internet traffic this week, officials disclosed Tuesday. Most users didn't notice the hour-long attack. The FBI and White House were investigating. One official described the attack Monday as the most sophisticated and large-scale assault ever against these crucial computers. The origin was not known. Seven of the 13 servers did not respond to legitimate network traffic, and two others failed intermittently during the attack, officials confirmed. Service was restored after experts enacted defensive measures, and the attack suddenly stopped. The 13 computers are spread across the globe as a precaution and operated by U.S. government agencies, universities, corporations and private outfits. "We were prepared; we responded quickly," said Brian O'Shaughnessy, a spokesman for VeriSign, which operates two of the 13 computers in northern Virginia.

October 22, 2002 - Former White House chief of staff and an international investigative journalist want to know what the Pentagon knows about unidentified flying objects, or UFOs. - "It is time for the government to declassify records that are more than 25 years old and to provide scientists with data that will assist in determining the real nature of this phenomenon," ex-Clinton aide John Podesta said Tuesday. - Despite earning little credence, cases of strange aerial phenomena that defy explanation abound -- whether witnessed by thousands of Arizona residents, commercial airline pilots or a U.S. president. Comment: How about being subjected to a major COINTELPRO rather than "earning little credence," you dimwits!

One of the most mysterious cases, the Kecksburg, Pennsylvania incident of December 5, 1965, is the first cited in the group's request for records through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Despite an official government story that the object was a meteorite, some eyewitnesses claimed that a military truck took an acorn-shaped object the size of a small car from the rural Pennsylvania crash site to an Air Force base in Ohio. "We can't come up with a reason why this information is being withheld. The government won't even acknowledge that the incident took place but we know that it did," said Leslie Kean, a California-based freelance reporter who drafted the FOIA request.

In the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, the government did take the UFO search seriously and top generals considered the pros and cons of informing the U.S. public, Kean said, citing top secret memos. In 1969, however, the Air Force terminated Project Blue Book, concluding that no reported UFOs were threats to national security. Paradoxically, Kean notes, the military continues to deny some requests for UFO information by citing national security concerns.

Comment: And we propose that the entire 9-11 event, the current drive to decimate the population, the building of massive underground bases for "survival of the elite" and global manipulations beyond all decency, including the poor people duped and misled by the New Age COINTELPRO as well as standard religions, is due to the presence of the Aliens. This is WHY the military continues to deny requests for UFO information, all the while ridiculing it and subjecting the subject - and any science deriving from it - to the most atrocious flaming and disinformation in history.

Don Ecker Research Director UFO Magazine, sez: Think you know what's what? Well, let me tell you, Richard Sauder's research will shock the Hell out of you and FORCE you to ask, "What the Hell's going on?!??" Warning! This is not for the "fainthearted"! Digs deep into the tantalizing proof of the existence of these facilities, both underground and undersea. Comment: We can assure you, they aren't spending all that money to build bases underground just to "hide" from view. Oh, no indeedy! They KNOW they are gonna need them, and to hell with the rest of humanity - those they don't kill off first, that is.

15 quakes hit Manchester, UK in 24 hours - Experts describe the number of tremors to hit the county as "unusual" and say they are "excited" about analysing the findings.

Iraq as Prison State - In the wake of 9/11, many were struck by the oddity of Bush's vow to topple the "axis of evil," since none of the three bogey-states (Iran, Iraq and North Korea) had much use for Osama bin Laden and his gang of murderers. - But we now know that the war plans for Iraq were more of a prequel than a sequel to Afghanistan. It was germinating long before al-Qaeda hit the New York City and the Pentagon. Hence, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's instruction to his coven of generals only hours after the attack to try to pin part of the blame on Saddam Hussein. -

Over the next few months, Rumsfeld reiterated his request, asking the CIA on at least 10 separate occasions to escavate evidence of an Iraqi / al-Qaeda link. The CIA couldn't find a thing. Still, when the Pentagon exhausted its bombing targets in Afghanistan, the administration's sites turned to Iraq. And the mainstream press and the US Congress have played along, giving Bush a free pass to go after Saddam with few questions asked. -

In an effort to add fiber to their charges, Blair and Bush have trotted out a number of Iraqi defectors. But this odd collection has demonstrated about as much credibility as the members of the Kuwaiti royal family who falsely claimed before congress back in 1990 that Saddam's troops had dumped babies our of incubators in the hospitals of Kuwait City. -

Even Bush tried to make the case early on, but got tangled up in his own tortured syntax: "I see linkages between someone who is willing to murder his own people. I hold Saddam Hussein to account and we are going to do that." Now it's clear why Dick Cheney, the executive producer of the Bush Administration, insists that Tony Blair makes all the really big speeches. -

But still the beat of the war drums goes on. The less sense the war makes, the louder the battle cries. I get the feeling that Bush and Blair are going to have to attack quickly or stand down. The resistance to this war is strong already and mounting daily. Of course, the support of the French, Russian and German governments can be bought. That's taken for granted. The real problem for both Bush and Blair is at home, where hundreds of thousands have already taken to the streets, with even bigger demonstrations in the works.

Professors say the universe will collapse in the relatively near future. - 10 to 20 billion years. Comment: Don't believe everything you read. This one is nonsense.

A Michigan woman apparently drowned her two daughters and then shot herself to death, authorities say. The bodies of the 24-year-old woman and her daughters, whose ages and names were not released, were discovered Monday when the woman's 8-year-old son came home from school.

A note found by police in the woods near Saturday's sniper shooting indicated a possible threat to local schools, according to several high-ranking school and government officials. That information prompted Richmond-area school superintendents to reverse an earlier decision and close schools yesterday. Schools remain closed today in most of the metro Richmond area.

The United States said it expects a "messy" diplomatic battle over its proposed new UN resolution on Iraq but warned the other members of the Security Council that it expected action soon.

A revised US resolution on Iraq presented to the UN Security Council is not acceptable to Russia, Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov warned. "The US resolution project which was presented yesterday so far does not correspond to the criteria (for a settlement of the Iraqi crisis) which Russia has put forward and by which it stands," the Interfax news agency quoted Ivanov as saying Tuesday.

Dozens of Iraqis protested against Saddam demanding to know the fate of missing relatives after their loved ones were not found among those recently released from prisons.

Three people were killed and 24 injured, according to police, in a bomb blast in downtown Bogota, reminiscent of the August attack that claimed 21 lives.

Washington Post sez: For Bush, Facts Are Malleable Can we say "LIES?" - President Bush, speaking to the nation this month about the need to challenge Saddam Hussein, warned that Iraq has a growing fleet of unmanned aircraft that could be used "for missions targeting the United States." Last month, asked if there were new and conclusive evidence of Hussein's nuclear weapons capabilities, Bush cited a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency saying the Iraqis were "six months away from developing a weapon." And last week, the president said objections by a labor union to having customs officials wear radiation detectors has the potential to delay the policy "for a long period of time." All three assertions were powerful arguments for the actions Bush sought. And all three statements were dubious, if not wrong. Further information revealed that the aircraft lack the range to reach the United States; there was no such report by the IAEA; and the customs dispute over the detectors was resolved long ago.

Does the Sun have a doomsday twin? - In 1846, researchers noticed that Uranus was wobbling in a way that confounded Newton's Law of Motion. This meant they had two options: rewrite the most time-honoured of the laws of physics, or "invent" a new planet to account for the extra gravitational pull. Compared to Newton's reputation, an eighth planet seemed much less massive and Neptune was discovered.

Today scientists working in the University of Louisiana have discovered a statistical anomaly of similar proportions. Professors John Matese, Patrick Whitman and Daniel Whitmire have studied the orbits of comets for 20 years, and their recent findings have led to startling theories. -

Intrigued by the work of two palaeontologists working for the University of Chicago, Prof Whitmire, along with Nasa colleague Dr Al Jackson, had earlier attempted to explain the amazing discovery that six apocalyptic events, including the extinction of the dinosaurs, have all occurred, like clockwork, every 26 to 30 million years. To try to explain this mass extinction cycle, they looked to the possibility that comet showers were to blame.

The latest effort of Matese, Whitman and Whitmire studies 82 comets from the huge cloud of comets, called the Oort cloud, that exists around our solar system. They took the aphelia of these comets, the points on their orbit that are farthest from our Sun, and plotted them on a globe. Expecting to find an even distribution, they instead found that a particular band of sky, about one sixth the total, contained more than one quarter of all the comets, and that about 25 per cent of the comets coming from this cloud have anomalous paths. So what was affecting the orbits? They went on to theorise that the best explanation is the existence of a previously unknown body - that our solar system is made up of the Sun and a shadowy partner, either a brown dwarf or a massive planet, in a wide binary system. In effect, the solar system had two stars, the Sun and a dark companion, spinning around each other. -

Now I know what you're thinking Surely I'd have noticed a second Sun in the sky? But, as Prof Whitmire explained, the process of assumption based on statistical anomalies has always been a cornerstone of scientific discovery. According to their current theory, he says, "the companion is a brown dwarf star or massive planet of mass between two and six times the mass of Jupiter". A brown dwarf is a star too small to sustain the nuclear fusion that powers our Sun, and so is relatively cool (surface temperature of less than 1500C) and so also very dim, being barely hot enough to give off light. -

But it gets worse. Under their original theory, called the Nemesis theory, this small dark star, which lurks at around 90,000 times farther away than the Earth is from the Sun, may be on an orbit that, once every 30 million years, ploughs it into the densely packed inner cloud. Here its immense gravitational pull would drag out several of the Oort comets and give them the "kick" needed to send them towards the Sun on orbits perilously close to the Earth. This explains, in the professor's view, the ominous mass extinction cycle, due to regular periods of increased cometary activity every 30 million years.

Comment: See the C's take on the Twin Sun, and Cometary Showers: Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. It is also important to know how these ideas compare to, and differ from, the ideas of Zecariah Sitchin and his "Nibiru" or "Planet X" hypothesis. As time passes, and more and more events of the so-called "End Times" seem to be developing right in front of us, the C's information becomes stronger with repeated validation, and the research we have done based on these clues indicate that we are, indeed, on the threshold of an amazing experience.

Former President George Bush said Sunday in Des Moines that his son faces the toughest times in the White House since the Civil War. "The fact is he is wrestling with problems probably as tough as any president has wrestled with since Lincoln," Bush said in headlining a fund-raising dinner for U.S. Rep. Greg Ganske's bid for the U.S. Senate. "Roosevelt, of course, faced World War II, but there we knew who the enemy was," the senior Bush told 800 Republicans at the Polk County Convention Complex. "The enemies we face in this country today are very, very different. They are shadowy - cowardly, you might say. They can strike anywhere." Bush said nothing in his 15-minute address about his son's effort to oust President Saddam Hussein in Iraq - a nation whose army U.S. and allied forces drove from Kuwait in 1991, when the elder Bush was president. Bush also said nothing about the nation's wobbly economy, the very issue blamed for his re-election defeat in 1992. Comment: And we notice that he didn't mention the fact that FDR manipulated the attack on Pearl Harbor in order to get the US into the war. The guy is such a liar - with so many connections to so much deception - that it is amazing that he can stand up in public and pretend he isn't. But then again, we learned in the Adventures that this is the mode of the psychopath.

Law enforcement sources said a hand-written note found near the scene of Saturday's sniper shooting in Virginia "hinted at a demand for money" and threatened "more killing." One official said it contained a timeline for authorities to act, and if they failed, then there would be more attacks.

Earth's little brother found? - Astronomers have discovered the first object ever that is in a companion orbit to the Earth. Asteroid 2002 AA29 is only about 100 metres wide and never comes closer than 3.6 million miles to our planet. But it shares the Earth's orbit around the Sun, at first on one side of the Earth and then escaping to travel along our planet's path around the Sun until it encounters the Earth from the other side. Then it goes back again. Comment: Is it REALLY an "asteroid?"

Russia 'disappointed' with new Iraq text - Russian officials are reported to have voiced disappointment with a new US draft resolution on Iraq, saying it is not very different from previous proposals aimed at compelling Baghdad to disarm. - The United States has submitted the new draft resolution to the four other permanent members of the UN Security Council - China, Britain, France and Russia. But a "reliable source" in Moscow quoted by the Russian news agencies Itar-Tass and Interfax said the document "does not differ much from the previous proposals submitted by the United States and Britain".

The US has warned of new terrorist attacks in Indonesia as it moved to put the Islamic militant group, Jemaah Islamiah (JI), on a list of terrorist groups. - Foreign governments, including the US, have named Jemaah Islamiah as being involved in the Bali attack. US officials hinted it would soon be added to a list of 34 terrorist organisations worldwide.

Six Americans of Yemeni descent have been indicted in Buffalo, New York on charges of supporting the al-Qaeda terror network. - Although there is no specific evidence connecting the men to a specific attack on the US, prosecutors allege that the men were an al-Qaeda "sleeper cell", who had spent time in militant camps in Afghanistan, training in the use of weapons and explosives. It is also alleged they were lectured by al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden. All six men have declared their innocence, with four of the six denying they had ever been to Afghanistan or any training camps. Comment: And of course, the public will not be able to evaluate the evidence because it is "secret!"

The Eritrean Government has reacted furiously to criticism from the US State Department. The US State Department called on the Eritrean Government to release two local employees of the US embassy in Eritrea who have been in detention since last year; Ali Alamin and Kiflom Gebremichael. It also urged the Eritrean Government to grant them an open and fair trail and "respect fundamental human rights." The Eritrean Foreign Ministry released a statement which said it totally rejected the state department's position, and called on it to refrain from unwarranted intervention. But the statement also contains some surprises, with the government accusing the previous administration of President Bill Clinton of employing the CIA to seek to unlawfully change the government in Asmara, during the war between Eritrea and Ethiopia.- In essence, the Eritrean statement implies that the top 11 Eritrean government officials, including former leaders of the liberation movement, who publicly criticized the Eritrean president after the recent war with Ethiopia, were recruited by the CIA. Comment: Ya don't say! Gee, sounds like what the CIA is trying to do here in America - force a "Regime Change" by manufacturing an attack and using it as a platform to create a war so that the government of America can be "unlawfully" changed.

Martha Stewart 'faces' civil charges - The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued Ms Stewart what is called a Wells Notice, the Wall Street Journal reported. It gives her an opportunity to explain her actions before the SEC makes its final decision, but is usually a formality before charges are filed. Comment: I guess Martha is a circus ring distraction. Too bad they don't issue such notices to folks like George Bush and Dick Cheney and the rest of the Gang of thugs and thieves running this country into the ground.

The US and China have signed billions of dollars worth of business deals a day before Chinese President Jiang Zemin arrives in the US. The deals signed in New York include US investments in alcohol, oil, telecoms, and engineering sectors.

Reader commentary on current geo-political situation: With all of the hubub going down about the Iraq "near nuclear" situation and now North Korea, and with Pakistan being taken over by "fundamentalist" groups, it got me to thinking: Where the heck did Israel get their alleged nuclear weapons?

Admittedly, it is not known for sure that they have nuclear weapons, but it is widely *assumed* that they have them, not the least of which is that whenever confronted their response is something like "wink, wink, nudge nudge, we would not tell you, now would we?"

Making a nuclear weapon is not a trivial process. To do so requires either the ability to enrich uranium or to process plutonium. Since plutonium only grows in special kinds of reactors, the barrier there is not the processing but the reactor itself.

The bottom line is that to make a bomb, requires a lot of infrastructure. To build an assembly line to make the supposedly hundreds they are thought to have requires a LOT of infrastructure. Also, it seems to me that one would really want to test the device to make sure it works within the parameters of the design. Test firing it as a first use seems like a really bad idea.

The bottom line is that there are not a lot of unaccounted for nuclear explosions because this stuff is monitored all over the world. There is one unexplained event which occured off the coast of South Africa, out in the middle of the ocean, which has always been suggested to be the Israeli's test detonation. But the bottom line is that *nobody* has put together a nuclear weapons program without many test detonations and that event was a singularity.

So how did Israel get the bomb, assuming they have it? My guess is that they did not develop a bomb, they were simply given some of ours.

Our nuclear devices are exceedingly difficult to compromise. They have been very carefully designed by some very paranoid people to only detonate where and when they are supposed to, for what are extremely obvious reasons. It has been repeatedly claimed that no terrorist could ever get a stolen US weapon to detonate without some deep and inside knowledge, which is known by only a very very few people, and frankly I believe the "party line". The very container of the bomb is designed to make the weapon inoperable if the outside is compromised, etc.

It is another not-too-secret secret that we have shared this technology with other nuclear enabled countries. Even in the height of the Cold War we were sharing nuclear security technology with the Soviet Union. The reasons for this are also obvious, it is just as important to us that a Russian bomb not be inadvertently detonated as a US bomb. After all, it only takes one nuclear weapon to ruin your whole day.

So my bet is that the Israeli nuclear weapons were simply given to them by the US.

This would also explain some of the serious spying that Mossad did to the US, and why the Israeli spies were listed as being so incredibly serious compromises to US security.

If you gave Israel a whole bunch of bombs just to make them feel better because they were our allies and surrounded by enemies, would you give them *all* of the codes needed to set them off, or would you hold something back to retain some measure of control? After all, they are your bombs.

Conversely, if you were Israel and you had these bombs, wouldn't you do just about anything to take control over the deployment decision?

Perhaps all of the spying was the Mossad's attempt to compromise the ability to program the bombs to detonate when *they* needed. It has always been maintained that it is extremely difficult to set one of these suckers off, not that it is physically impossible.

So perhaps one of the background details to what is going on with Iraq and the whole middle east situation is that the US now knows that:

1) Israel has "the bomb"
2) its not their bomb, its ours...
3) they have managed to compromise the codes and so can use them *as* they please, *when* they please.

Anyway, just some thoughts on Israeli Nukes because it has always bothered me that they just simply do not have the infrastructure needed to pull it off. After all, Israel is a really tiny country and there just isn't that much space. They also don't have all of the oil money that Iraq has to go do things like hollow out mountains and such.

I've read (don't remember where) that Israel is the third strongest nuclear power on earth; and also, that the annual US aid to Israel is greater than the US combined annual aid to all other countries.

Now these are strong statements, which I hope are disinformation. If anyone has any evidence of the truth of these statements, I'd appreciate you bringing it forward.

With our Zionist controlled media, facts concerning Israel seem hard to come by.

Is Israel largely a welfare state, funded by US taxpayers? What, in fact, does Israel produce of value? Does Israel mainly produce, sell, broker and use armamants on defenseless people?

If Israel lacks the internal infrasructure to produce a massive war machine, could they, in addition to taking all the bombs Uncle Sam will give her, be building off-shore and quietly "importing" their own nuclear bombs and other war materials? Could such a build up have gone on unnoticed for the last 50 years? Would the world-wide Zionist controlled press tell us about such an Israeli accumulation?

What frightens me, most, however, is the possibility (and I'm only stating this as a possibility) that Israel has already threatened the Bush gang with the nuclear bombing of an American city...unless... we unleash massive bombing raids on Iraq because Iraq is the only Middle Eastern country that can pose a real counter-threat to Israeli aggression any where in the world.

On the other hand, it may be that Israel doesn't have to produce anything of value to justify the US lavishly pouring money into it the way it does: it may be that Israel is probably no more than just another piece on the global chess board, and if you play chess, you know that the value of certain pieces sometimes resides in the fact that you can actually sacrifice them in order to open up further avenues of attack. A "good" player actually doesn't have any compunction to sacrifice a bishop or a rook if the end result is that he's going to be in a possition to advance his pieces to occupy and dominate more and more squares on the board.

In other words, the current geopolitical situation can only be explained when an underlying imperialistic design behind the actions of the MIC is factored in. Short of that, it's difficult indeed to understand what does the US stands to gain from all this investment.
