As it turned out, a few months ago the world didn't end on Thursday and all those trying to predict doomsday could take a breather - for a while anyway. But the guys over at "psyops central" like to keep us on our toes. So now that "Planet X" has come and gone (so to speak), it's time to get down to the really serious issues.

The question these days is not, "Will the world end on thursday?" but rather, "Will the NWO begin in June 2004?" Perhaps Reagan was referring to such an event as we are going to discuss when he mentioned it way back in the 80's - alluding to a "threat from beyond our world". At the time many UFO buffs claimed Reagan's comment was vindication of the truth of aliens and government cover-ups, but is it possible he was talking about a slightly different celestial anomaly?

Recently the conspiracy corner of the internet was all abuzz with talk of the world's navies leaving their ports en masse, an event allegedly linked to the "revelations" of a mysterious e-group commentator known only as "Aussie Bloke".

Claiming to be an astronomer with the inside scoop on the large dust cloud and three medium sized meteorites that he declared were on a collision course with the earth, the mysterious "Aussie Bloke" caused quite a stir on the unmoderated Godlikeproductions.com forum where he posted his "groundbreaking" revelations (pun intended).

A major part of Aussie Bloke's "evidence" for the impending global catastrophe was a radio communication intercept called "Snowball" where a lone ham radio operator supposedly recorded an intercept of a U.S. military SSB (Single Side Band) radio transmission on 26 January of this year, referring to a mysterious "countdown" to an unnamed event which (by the countdown) will occur around June 19 or 20 (of this year). Other evidence cited was that much of the US Navy (7 carrier strike groups) are being deployed around the world this summer, with other joint exercises with the navies of other nations occurring at the same time. Certainly, this strikes a lot of people as odd, considering that Bush has cancelled departure time for our overworked, stressed-out troops in Iraq.

"(AP) - The USS Harry S. Truman sailed Wednesday- and the USS Enterprise left Thursday - in a test of the Navy's ability to have seven of its 12 carriers away from port simultaneously, a major shift from the way carriers have traditionally been used.

The two Norfolk-based carriers are participating in the exercise, dubbed "Summer Pulse 04."

British Navy heads west for 'Aurora'

"The largest commitment of Royal Navy personnel since the liberation of Iraq 12 months ago has been sent west for huge war games in the Atlantic.

Eighteen warships, led by Fleet flagship HMS Invincible, are taking part in Exercise Aurora, stretching along the eastern seaboard of the United States
to the Gulf of Mexico.

Among the ships deployed are helicopter carrier HMS Ocean, assault ship HMS Albion and Type 23 frigates HM ships Marlborough and Sutherland, all sailing in small 'packets' to meet up in Norfolk, Virginia.

Major Russian armed forces exercises to be held in June

MOSCOW - The Russian Armed Forces will hold major exercises in June 2004, acting Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov told President Vladimir Putin.

"In June, permanent alert units will be redeployed from one Russian region to some other by Defense Ministry transport planes civilian Il-62 and Il-86 aircraft," Mr. Ivanov said at president's Monday meeting with cabinet members.

"The Russian Navy is planning major independent and international campaigns in the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea in August-September," Mr. Ivanov said.

It seems a little far fetched to us to suggest that the deployment of navy ships is connected with an impending meteorite impact. Summer is a natural time for naval maneuvers. It is far more likely in our opinion that the current deployment of large numbers of war ships and the conducting of naval war games is for some other purpose.

It is no secret that many months prior to the official public decision to invade Iraq, the US and UK military and navy had been deployed to the gulf region. Any future attack on North Korea would require similar preparations. The "war on terror" must go on after all. To justify the war on Iraq, a faked terrorist attack just fortuitously occurred. Might we expect a new, even more spectacular attack this summer to be used as justification for an attack on the next "terrorist state"? On this point, could it be that the names of the UK and US naval exercises are suggestive of the nature of this attack?

Having recently witnessed the Niburu and Planet X debacle, we here at SotT were initially a little nonplussed by the claims of impending space rock impacts - even if we think that such events have happened in the past and may very well happen again. Indeed, our interest was piqued by the fact that the details shared by "Aussie bloke" about the alleged incoming meteorites contained certain specific elements that can be found in our our own publications on the topic from a few years back. We began to smell a rat.

Within a few days the debate had spread far and wide, notably with the fundamentalist christian Bushite site and discussion board, Bushcountry.com, pondering whether Jesus would be arriving on the comets themselves or sometime thereafter. To their credit, some members of the Godlike Productions discussion board were skeptical and demanded proof of Aussie Bloke's credentials. Apparently exasperated, Aussie Bloke finally reveled himself as one Dr. Grant Gartrel, possibly an Australian astronomer, but more likely an Australian authority on caves and rock imaging, and a sometime blueberry farmer. Of course, while a Dr. Grant Gartrel does exist, there is no proof that it was the real Dr Gartrel.

Here is what "he" said:

Well, talk about inflammatory!

But just as the discussion was reaching fever pitch, "Aussie Bloke" now calling himself "The Monitors" piped up and spoiled the party by claiming it was all a big hoax, a psychological operation called "Blind Skies", designed simply to test the gullibility of the average, supposedly intelligent, human.

"The Monitors" said:

"You are all to be commended for your exemplary performance these past several weeks. Your unwitting participation in BLIND SKIES has proven most informative, and quite frankly entertaining to many project members. To say that it got out of hand would be an exercise in understatement. We picked GLP precisely because it was out of the way, off the beaten path of usual internet surfers. It suited our needs perfectly. Unmoderated. Anonymous posting. We couldn't have asked for a better testbed unless we had built it ourselves.

Rest assured, Elaine (registered owner of godlike productions) is in no way part of this. She is/was as unaware of the true nature of our experiment as the rest of you.

Our initial hypothesis was straightforward enough: Given the barest minimum of verifiable evidence, ordinary citizens of average to above-average intelligence could be duped into wholesale belief in a catastrophe scenario, provided there was ample corroboration from equally ambiguous, non-credible sources.

We never anticipated the myth spreading beyond the confines of GLP. When the conservative website, Bushcountry, picked up the story, we realized that our initial models had failed miserably to account for the 'word-of-mouth' potential inherent in the internet. At most, we thought perhaps a few other fringe sites might get on board, but it's obvious to us now that it's only a matter of time before a mainstream media outlet syndicates this content, at which point the story will explode into something far beyond our ability to control. BLIND SKIES began with an idea. The now-legendary SNOWBALL INTERCEPT provided the impetus we had been looking for, the final piece of a puzzle that had been confounding us for the past 14 months. It was the perfect backstory for a disaster scenario that would be easily accepted. Few people have any real knowledge of astronomy. Fewer still know much about the socio-political environment that modern astronomers operate within, and when one of our members suggested using an invented Australian astronomer to further muddy the waters, we knew it was time to release. BLIND SKIES is not, as many have claimed, a 'PSY OP'. Although we have an affiliation with the government, our mandate was not intended to be any sort of disinformation campaign, mass brainwashing, or subliminal manipulation. We conducted a serious experiment to study the panic reflexes of a virtual community, and quite frankly the experiment ran away from us. Aussie Bloke has now become our Frankenstein's Monster.

We applaud the efforts of so many of you to find the 'facts' behind the fiction. We were impressed by the fact that many people realized their lack of astronomical knowledge, and sought to follow AB's advice and LOOK TO THE SKIES, and INVESTIGATE FOR YOURSELVES! We cannot say that we aren't pleased with our role in inspiring a new renaissance in the field of astronomy.

Near Earth Objects are a threat to our planet, and someday perhaps there will be a scenario that closely matches what we created for BLIND SKIES. However, that day is not today.

We will continue to monitor these forums, along with many others, and we will continue to collect the data regarding your responses. Even the release of this message was factored into the experiment, however as we have already stated, we never anticipated releasing it to such a broad audience.

One interesting result that we had not considered was the various religous and prophetic threads that have spawned as a result of our experiment. One project member commented that it was encouraging to see that faith is not dead in the world.

And so, to you believers, I say be careful in what, and in whom, you place your faith and your trust. And, to you non-believers I say, continue to keep up the fight for truth and reason, because you are logic's last line of defense.

And there it sat, amazing revelations of impending cometary disaster, the authors pleading ignorance that the story would have ever reached so far and wide, even onto fundamental christian, pro Bush sites.

Paradoxically, it was at this point that the whole situation began to make a little more sense, at least to us. We find it hard to believe that the authors were unaware of the fact that sensationalist revelations spread extremely quickly on the internet. As such we deduce that, despite their claims to naivete, the wide dissemination and discussion of "Aussie Bloke's" meteorite impact revelations, and the ultimate ridiculing of the people that believed them, was the real goal.

There is also the comment above by the authors that, "it's only a matter of time before a mainstream media outlet syndicates this content, at which point the story will explode into something far beyond our ability to control."

Indeed it is true that, if this story were to be reported by the mainstream media, complete with the idea that the whole thing was a hoax, any future comments by ANY website that suggest the reality of the possibility of a meteorite impact would immediately be dismissed as simply more "hoaxery".

On the other hand, the authors themselves state that they are pleased that the more religiously-minded latched onto the threat of a meteorite impact to bury their heads further in religious dogma. Coincidence? As much as the authors would like us to think so, we think not.

But the story was not ready to die just yet. Not wanting to bore the seasoned internet conspiracy theorist with a simple fear-based reverse psychology move, another member of the Godlike Productions message board then claimed that the above message from the monitors was the real hoax and that he (anonymous poster) was behind it, and that the original message from Aussie Bloke was real!

I have no doubt that this message will be cross-posted, copied, pasted, and spread just as far and wide as my original "Monitors" message.

In less than 24 hours, you have all embraced an entirely fake post that offered NO corroborative evidence and NO verifiable proof of anything.

Like many of you, I was on the fence regarding AB, N&W, and even Lyros to some extent. Part of me remains convinced that an intelligent person, or group, can easily construct a plausible scenario that many people will believe in, simply because it SOUNDS good.

I could have left "The Monitors" (which, by the way, was taken from an old Space: Above and Beyond episode, for those of you who remember that awesome TV show), but I'm really not interested in sending people into mental institutions or home foreclosure, because they lost their minds over something they read on the internet.

This should clearly illustrate to you all that you NEED to improve your BS filters when you read something on the net. There are organized groups operating even now that will generate a hoax just for the bragging rights of doing it. If AB/N&W is a hoax, they are right now patting themselves on the backs and congratulating each other.

Honestly, I don't know if it's real, if any of it's real, but I had to throw "The Monitors" into the mix to prove a point that MANY other posters have been shouting at you ever since this began.

It took me all of 15 minutes to write the "Monitors" message. If someone REALLY wanted to do their homework, ask some questions, and take some notes, they could create a story that most of us would be hard-pressed to refute.

Sure, I upset a lot of people, but you guys needed a wake up call. STOP BELIEVING EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THE INTERNET. Yes, mainstream media often misses or intentionally buries news items, and sites like GLP can be valuable resources in finding news that falls through the holes, but stories like AB's go beyond all that, and delve deeply into the realm of complete and utter internet hoax.

Just look at what the reactions to my message were. Some people refused to believe that AB (aussie bloke) could be anything but the gospel. Some people realized it was a hastily prepared scam. Some people saw it as a logical explanation that reinforced something they'd been thinking all along.

In short, your reactions to my post were very much in line with your reactions to AB and the like.

I know you'll all require proof that "The Monitors" message is a fake, and that I'm the one who did it. So, here goes.

BLIND SKIES is the proof - totally made it up on the spot, because it sounded good. AB kept saying look to the skies, but so many people weren't seeing anything, so it sounded good. I googled it myself, and was surprised that the first hit actually had to do with asteroids. I laughed a little, but then included that part about COINCIDENCE as a result of my google experience. I picked it out of the blue, people, and it "hit" when searched on!

When I 'quoted' AB and said LOOK TO THE SKIES and INVESTIGATE FOR YOURSELF, I fully expected you to do web searches on BLIND SKIES, and quickly learn that it probably doesn't exist, never has, never will. I was a little surprised that the anagram hunters didn't make an appearance (maybe they did and I missed it). Before I posted, I checked to make sure there'd be no "hits" on anagrams, and the closest I saw that you MIGHT latch onto was DISIN BS ELK.

I insinuated government "affiliation" ("The Monitors" never stated they WERE the government, yet many inferred that), because I knew that would add even more credibility. Many of you are convinced that TPTB are untrustworthy (and perhaps they are), so by adding that element, I insured that those disaffected people would likely get on board with my message. [...]

As you can imagine, at this stage most people did not know what to believe. Yet again, the favored psyops technique of "good cop - bad cop" is used, with the public first wound up and then placated, leaving them sure of nothing and open to anything.

Interestingly, the messages from "Aussie Bloke", "The Monitors" and the above unidentified individual, all stressed the same point - that the conspiracy minded internet communities are extremely gullible and very easily duped. They reiterated that the public can be made to believe anything, and therefore they should believe nothing, or believe everything, either way, the message is that they will never know for sure what is happening.

As a final dig, the above unnamed author advised subscribers to read the message below. In doing so, he perhaps revealed a core aspect of the message he wanted to get across.

"In an introductory essay, Peter Knight, editor of the 2002 collection Conspiracy Nation: The Politics of Paranoia in Postwar America, attributes modern conspiracism to "the pervading sense of uncontrollable forces taking over our lives, our minds, and even our bodies." He writes that "conspiracy thinking has become not so much the sign of a crackpot delusion as part of an everyday struggle to make sense of a rapidly changing world." In effect, individuals are losing their sense of agency in a period of political chaos and technological overload, compulsive consumerism and fear of the future, experiencing a loss of self and a sense of interchangeability with other digitized and horrifically surveilled humans, unable to get the big picture into focus and hence fixating on an idea of the world itself as a vast, impenetrable conspiracy."

So there it is. Conspiracy theorists are no longer to be ridiculed but pitied; they are merely suffering from the pressures of the modern world and social and technological development.

If we consider the underlying effect of the entire "Aussie Bloke" episode and the lessons that may have been learned by the average seeker on the net, it is that reports of impending meteorite impacts and cataclysms cannot be trusted - period. Any future predictions of warnings will surely be considered with more skepticism than before, even by those more inclined to believe that they may contain an element of truth.

Yet it seems that there is always more than one agenda served by psychological operations of this type. We cannot discount the fact that all of this is happening at a time when there has been a marked increased in ACTUAL meteorite sightings and impacts - well over a dozen in the past year alone.

It also provides much needed distraction for the Bush gang from the worrying reports that Bush is a man on the edge of sanity, with the Neocons feeling more and more that, at this point, they have nothing to lose. It is certainly strange that the conservative, Bush supporting, fundie Bushcountry.org website would publish something like the "Aussie Bloke" rant. It suggests that bushcountry.org may well be a front (whether unwitting or not) for the agenda of the Bush reich.

Of course, none of the above answers the question as to the identities of the people behind this most recent psyop. Without doubt there is a hierarchy involved, with the names at the top of the pyramid seldom if ever revealed. But there have been many cases were agents and "New Age" grifters and conmen have been exposed. We ourselves have experienced ongoing attacks from such disinformation artists. In this case however, other than the fundie Bushcountry.org site, one other alternative website seized upon the doomsday element of the story and ran with it:

He has in the past publicly testified in front of the South Australian Parliament and has given his name and address... and has published scientific papers along with other scientists on the subject of possibly threatening outer space objects. He was testifying concerning caves, as he is an amateur cave explorer who has made important discoveries of Pliestocene era dinosaur bones... and that information is also on the Internet for all to see.

He began revealing his disturbing facts anonymously on 4/29/04, and as promised on 5/15/04 that he would reveal his identity within two weeks -- to give him time for him to visit family -- and on 5/29/04 he revealed his surname as "Dr. Gartrell."

Prophecykeepers.com Radio did some simple research and discovered his actual full name, address, and phone number... and that he does operate a "pick-your-own" Blueberry farm nowadays where he also manufactures wine. He originally claimed his full history was freely available if anyone dug deep enough... and we apparently did... and it was available -- just as he claimed.

IF you *fully* read Dr. Grant's Gartrell's LONG testimony, suddenly it SHOULD dawn on you, as it did on Prophecykeepers.com, that SOMETHING HUGE OF EARTH SHATTERING PROPORTIONS IS HAPPENENING AND THE GOVERNMENTS OF THE WORLD OBVIOUSLY KNOW ABOUT IT!

We are constantly reminded that for as many people who honestly seek to know the truth, there is at least one that seeks to twist and manipulate that truth, either for their own ends or for those objectives of their controllers, or both. Apart from the fact that, in the above, Will Anderson makes no effort to analyse the story or inform his readers of the controversy surrounding the "revelations" of "Dr. Gartrel", he provides no evidence for his key claim that Dr. Gartrel has testified before the Australian parliament about the imminent meteorite threat. What is even more interesting is the clever way he has twisted this idea into his title - making it sound like Gartrell only yesterday testified before the Australian parliament about the incoming objects. The fact is, the only testimony of a "Dr. Gartrell" (note: with 2 "Ls") to the south Australian parliament we could find, was on the subject of cave imaging technology.

This advisory is published for the protection of the general public and to advise our visitors that this individual over a period of several years has operated numerous monetary scams conducted in the name of American Indian People.

Scott Anderson is the current spokesperson for a false group operating out of Deltona Florida using the name of Indian Creek Band of Chickamauga Cherokee. Anderson has in fact been known for the solicitation of donations from the public on behalf of a Convicted Sex Criminal who is a Registered Sex Offender in the State of Missouri, along with several other incidents of exploitation affecting American Indian People.

William Scott Anderson, otherwise known as Blue Otter, began soliciting donations over the Internet in 2001 for the legal defense of what he was claiming was an issue of Religious Persecution concerning the violation of American Indian civil rights.

The incident Mr. Anderson claimed was an American Indian Issue, actually took place during the execution of a federal search warrant conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) in connection with an investigation by local law enforcement over the failure of an associate of Mr. Anderson to register in his community, as is required by federal law in connection with a previous 1990 conviction for a sexual offense concerning a minor.

Mr. Anderson was present during this raid where over 17 illegal firearms were confiscated by authorities that was in the possesion of the individual in question. This then led to a Grand Jury Indictment concerning the illegal possession of these firearms by the convicted sex offender to which the felon then later entered a plea of guilty as charged.

During the time prior to the entered plea of guilty by the defendant, William Scott Anderson was in fact soliciting money donations online for the Legal Aid of this convicted sex criminal under the guise of a Cherokee American Indian cause while making the claim that the ATF raid was actually a result of religious persecution of American Indian people.

Federal court documents concerning the case prove that Mr. Andersons' online solicitations for money under the guise of an American Indian cause were entirely false as this was never a case that involved the Bureau of Indian Affairs, but rather as a direct result of illegal firearms possession by a convicted sex felon which is a violation of federal law.

William Scott Anderson has also falsely claimed to be a Cherokee Indian Chief in addition to his claims to being a Cherokee Medicine Man descended from Pocahontas (who he also claims was Cherokee), and he is currently operating yet another monetary scam where he solicits donations online via paypal under the guise of yet another Fake Cherokee Indian Tribe that he claims is located in Florida.

Please be advised that this individual was officially denounced by the Cherokee Nation in the year 2000 for his heinous abuse of the free e-mail system that the Cherokee Nation generously offered to the public.

Anderson was abusing their free e-mail system to make his false claims. This was quickly discovered, which then led to his account being deleted by Cherokee Nation authorities.

Anderson has claimed for several years to be a medicine man where he sold injections of Tahitian Noni Juice while claiming his concoction heals American Indian people of Diabetes.

Please avoid this individual and the groups he is associated with, and please be advised of Mr. Anderson's connection to numerous deplorable exploitations of the American Indian People over a period of several years.

Of particular note is Mr Anderson's cohort having to deal with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms (ATF), the same US government department that was involved in the WACO massacre and which has close dealings with so called Cult deprogrammers like Rick Ross.

From our own experiences and research with charismatic, yet possibly psychopathic people like Mr Anderson, we suspect that their criminal records are often used as a bartering tool by CoIntelPro agencies. Essentially, they are afforded some level of immunity from the law in exchange for their services in spreading disinformation and lies, in whatever way is deemed necessary. The internet is their "happy hunting ground".

At the time of writing one of our research staff received the below from the real Dr Grant Gartrell:

I have just returned home from a week interstate caving to find my answering machine full and more than 60 emails awaiting me. It has taken me most of the night to find out why.

Thanks for the kind comments about my forays into the parliamentary arena. I would like to think that I wasn't wasting my time then.

What appears below is what I have sent to a couple of places where this stuff seems to be breeding.

Further to that, I have never made any submissions to any parliamentary bodies on impact threats or any other aspects of cometary debris.

"Several people have recently contacted me, and thus have drawn my attention to claims being made in my name concerning the prediction of imminent cataclysmic cometary impacts.

"Please be advised that I have no knowledge of the identity of the person "Aussie Bloke" who claims to be me.

"I am very displeased to be caught up in a hoax in this way, and while I do not regard myself as a vindictive person, I do not think that I would be too upset at this moment if a small "personal sized" heavenly body fell out of the sky and flattened "Aussie Bloke", or at least knocked some integrity into him.

"I am one of the authors of an article on meteors which appeared in the Australian Journal of Physics in 1975, but, although still interested in it, have not worked actively in that field much since that time. I am currently a berry grower with a serious interest in cave exploration, cave science and cave tourism development and management, as well as the landcare movement and the promotion of sustainable agriculture and horticulture.

"There are a number of claims made by "Aussie Bloke" in his hi-jacking of my persona that are plainly incorrect and make it quite clear that he does not know me as well as he would like others to believe.

"I would like to state categorically that while I have no doubt that over geologically significant periods of time there have been significant impacts on earth by space debris, and that there is no reason to suppose that similar events will not occur from time to time in the future, I have no knowledge whatsoever of any such immediate or imminent threat, or any related conspiracy. I have never even met Chicken Little, and I have already started planning travel arrangements for conferences I expect to attend in several years time."

So there you have it - yet all this proves is that the poster on "Godlike Productions" was not Dr Gartrell, and those behind this little operation stated that themselves.

The real lesson to be learned here is that this was a CoIntelPro operation, designed to manipulate the very malleable minds of the public in such a way as to make it more difficult for the honest seeker to separate the truth from the lies. Yet with this knowledge we are afforded some protection.

So is anything of significance going to happen this summer?

Without doubt. But we can say with some degree of certainty that, while they remain a distinct threat, there will be no major meteorite impacts, not yet anyway. That is not to say that this summer and the rest of this year will be smooth sailing. We have understood for quite some time that, with each passing day, our planet is being pushed closer and closer to utter destruction. As this happens, the powers that be will go to increasingly extreme lengths to ensure that the population remains confused and distracted from what is really going on.

The task that is before all of is is to unravel the lies and disinformation that make up the reality that the PTB would have us believe. So instead of heading for the hills and stocking up on beef jerky, we suggest that we all keep watching and reading the Signs and using our heads in an attempt to see and understand the deeper reality that is all around us and to which we all contribute by what we SEE. Remember cycles?

Lowest Tides in 19 Years Draw Crowds

"There are 36 factors that affect the tides, from the Earth's proximity to the sun and the moon to the moon's angle in relation to the equator, said Richard Strickland, who teaches oceanography at the University of Washington.

Every 19 years, those factors line up just so - creating the lowest low tides and the greatest differences between low and high tides, he said. Virtually everywhere outside of the tropics will have seen the lowest low tides in 19 years between about Friday and Sunday, he said."

19 years also is mentioned here:

And again in the Adventures series:

"The reference to the Moon brings us back in a loop to the so-called Philadelphia Experiment which was promoted on the platform of the death of Morris K. Jessup. What the Philadelphia Experiment distracted attention away from was Jessup's ideas about the gravitational neutral zone of a three body system which we have also identified as being connected to the Chandler wobble cycle of 18.6 years, which then connects to the "dancing of the god" at Stonehenge every 19 years, which is called the Metonic cycle. And /f course, we are beginning to realize that all of this connects to the ideas of the Holy Grail, the Ark of the Covenant, and certain periods - cyclical in nature - in which transfer of perimeters is most easily accomplished! Remember what Jessup wrote:

"Next we see that Diodorus is suggesting that the 19 year lunar calendar - the Metonic cycle - is from the Hyperboreans and that it relates to a period in which the "return of the stars" is accomplished. We realize immediately that these "stars" must refer to a geometric relationship between the Sun, Moon and Earth, rather than the "stars" in terms of real stars and the planets because they certainly do not "return" to any particular position every nineteen years. And we now suspect that this may have something to do with a gravitational node of a three body system.

As it happens, certain scientific observations of our present day may relate to this very matter of the 19 year cycle. One of the axial motions of the earth is called the Chandler Wobble. The Chandler wobble was only discovered by modern science in 1891, is a variation in the earth's axis of rotation. There is also something called "nutation," which is an aggregation of sub-wobbles, the most significant of which has a period of 18.6 years and results from variations in the distance of the moon!"

Could this low tide that is being observed be a marker for the "Return of the Stars"? And what might "return of the stars" mean? George Bush senior's comment about a New World Order and "a thousand points of light" also comes to mind. Is it possible that the entire "Aussie Bloke" episode and the fact that it has prepped people for a "light show" this summer, perhaps this month, be a cover for an actual event that has nothing to do with meteorites? The idea of a nineteen year cycle is indeed very interesting. If we track back in time, we see that some very strange events have occurred at 19 year intervals. For one example, the events that lead to the book "The Mothman Prophecies" by John Keel occurred in the fall of 1966, 38 years, or two 19 year cycles ago. John Keel also talked of a mini 9.6 year cycle of very anomalous events. In his book "Our Haunted Planet" he states:

Another computer study of twelve hundred anomalies and unusual occurrences, sifted from the works of Charles Fort, was recently carried out by C L Mallows of the Bell telephone Laboratories. Here it was found that a broader cycle of 9.6 years was seemingly involved.

"The conclusion is inescapable that these cycles of activity, which pass through our world like radio waves of enormous length, must have a common cause" Damon Knight explained in his book, 'Charles Fort: Prophet of the Unexplained'

"The cause of the cycles, the controlling force that keeps them in synchrony, must lie outside the earth."

Other strange events on this 19 year cycle include:

August 16, 1985. Annesley Woodhouse, England. A "scorching" tornado.

"What was interesting about the storm was not only the damage it caused, but also the type of damage. After touching down the tornado uprooted a large oak tree, 15 metres high, in Lawn Road (luckily the residents of the house were away on a holiday). The tornado proceeded to rip tiles off several roofs, demolished completely several greenhouses, and next scorched a 4-metre section of gable on the south side of a house in Forest Street (number 9). The gable section was scorched so badly that the gable had already been repainted when I called, although the evidence could still be seen."

UFO Sightings

We obtained this most recent account of a Giant UFO in the Yukon by e-mail recently. Was it the same "mothership" that was spotted over the central Yukon 10 years later on Dec 11, 1996? Who knows? Although the witness estimated that the incident occurred in the fall of 1985 they also indicated that it occurred a few days before the Japan Airlines UFO incident over Alaska that was widely publicized. The Japanese airline pilot compared the size of that UFO to that of a battleship. This incident took place north of Anchorage Alaska on November 16, 1986. We were thus able to come up with a more accurate date for the sighting over Tagish Lake.

Armed Man in Bulldozer Goes on Rampage

GRANBY, Colo. - A man who lost two bitter battles with town officials plowed an armor-plated bulldozer into the town hall, a former mayor's home and at least five other buildings before the machine ground to a halt in the wreckage of a warehouse, authorities said.

No injuries were reported in the rampage Friday, but officials declined to comment on the condition of the bulldozer driver, identified by the town manager as muffler shop owner Marvin Heemeyer.

Heemeyer was still inside the bulldozer's cab early Saturday. City officials said he was angry over a zoning dispute and fines from city code violations at his business.

Authorities detonated three explosions and fired at least 200 rounds against the heavy steel plates welded to the bulldozer. The first two detonations failed; the results of the third were not immediately known.

Undersheriff Glen Trainor said the dozer's armor plates consisted of two sheets of half-inch steel with a layer of concrete between them.

Grand County Emergency Management Director Jim Holahan said Heemeyer was armed with a .50-caliber weapon but appeared to be deliberately avoiding injuring anyone.

Residents of this mountain tourist town of 2,200 described a bizarre scene as the bulldozer slowly crashed through buildings, trees and lampposts, with dozens of officers walking ahead or behind it, firing into the machine and shouting at townspeople to flee.

"It looked like a futuristic tank," said Rod Moore, who watched the dozer rumble past within 15 feet of his auto garage and towing company. [...]

Town manager Tom Hale said Heemeyer was angry after losing a zoning dispute that allowed a cement plant to be built near his muffler shop. Heemeyer also was fined $2,500 in a separate case for not having a septic tank and for other city code violations at his business, Hale said.

When he paid the fine, he enclosed a note with his check saying "Cowards," Hale said.

"We felt he was venting his frustration that he didn't get his way," Hale said of the note. "We didn't think he was going to do something like this."

Trainor said he believes Heemeyer spent months armoring the bulldozer, and investigators were looking into whether he had help.

Hale said owners of all the buildings that were damaged had some connection to Heemeyer's disputes. [...]

The buildings included the cement plant, a utility company, a bank, a newspaper office, a hardware store and warehouse, the home of former Mayor L.R. "Dick" Thompson and the municipal building, which also housed a library.

Crumpled patrol cars and service trucks lay in the dozer's path. A pickup was folded nearly in half and had been rammed through the wall of a building.

Gov. Bill Owens traveled Friday night to Granby, about 50 miles west of Denver and 10 miles south of Rocky Mountain National Park. [...]

US soldiers could face war crimes charges

GENEVA (Reuters) - The United Nations' top human rights official says abuses by U.S. soldiers of Iraqi prisoners at Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison could amount to war crimes.

Acting High Commissioner for Human Rights Bertrand Ramcharan said on Friday U.S.-led occupation forces had committed "serious violations" of international humanitarian law in Iraq and had ill-treated ordinary Iraqis.

In a report for the world body's Human Rights Commission, Ramcharan, a British-trained barrister from Guyana and long-time U.N. official, also said coalition troops were able to act with impunity and urged the appointment of an independent figure to monitor their behaviour.

In a clear reference to the Abu Ghraib incidents, since when several U.S. male and female soldiers working there have been detained, Ramcharan said "wilful killing, torture or inhuman treatment" of detainees was a grave breach of international law.

Such acts "might be designated as war crimes by a competent tribunal", he added.

The only U.S. soldier to face court martial so far for his role in the Abu Ghraib abuses was sent to jail for one year.

U.S. State Department spokesman Adam Ereli declined to comment on whether U.S. soldiers may have committed war crimes at Abu Ghraib and said the United States believed its soldiers should be judged within the U.S. military justice system. [...]

The United States has refused to sign a 1998 treaty creating the world's first permanent global war crimes tribunal.

The United States was one of 135 nations to sign the treaty under former President Bill Clinton. But President George W. Bush's administration rescinded the signature, fearing the court could bring politically motivated or frivolous cases against U.S. troops serving on foreign soil. [...]

Comment: Here's another idea: the Bush administration rescinded the signature because they planned on invading other nations and committing war crimes. While everyone is distracted by the horrors at Abu Ghraib, America's other war crimes against Afghanis and Iraqis are conveniently being overlooked.

Jail officer may call star witnesses

Denver: A US soldier at the centre of the Iraqi prison torture scandal has asked that Vice-President Dick Cheney, and the Secretary of Defence, Donald Rumsfeld, testify on her behalf.

Private Lynndie England, 21, is due to appear at a preliminary hearing in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where she is based, on June 22.

England appeared in at least two notorious photographs taken at Abu Ghraib prison outside Baghdad, in one of which she holds a leash attached to the neck of a prostrate, naked man.

The photographs sparked international outrage that forced President George Bush to apologise for the abuse of prisoners.

England's lawyer, Rose Mary Zapor, told a news conference on Thursday that Mr Cheney and Mr Rumsfeld were among more than 130 people that the defence wanted to call as witnesses.

Ms Zapor said England's defence that she was only following orders could be bolstered by evidence from the pair. [...]

In Fallujah, the most restive city in the Sunni Triangle of Iraq, anti-American feeling is white-hot. Jack Fairweather is smuggled inside the city that is a no-go area for Westerners

Wearing an American-supplied uniform and armed with a battered AK47 rifle, Abdullah lounged at the checkpoint on the outskirts of Fallujah.

A month ago he probably had his face masked by an Arab headscarf, and was launching attacks against US marines. Now, as a member of the US-sponsored Fallujah Brigade, he controls access to the city.

Such is the strange nature of the peace that has seen the Iraqi resistance take command of Fallujah, the most restive city in the Sunni Triangle of Iraq, where anti-American feeling is white-hot.

US marines pulled out last month and an Iraqi security force hastily formed from Saddam Hussein's old army moved in. The fighting was over as abruptly as it had begun, with US commanders lauding the peace deal.

"It's an Iraqi solution to an Iraqi problem," said a marine general optimistically. Fallujah has since become a model for dealing with the Shia uprising in the south.

But few on the ground share such optimism. There may be peace, but officers say Fallujah has simply been handed over to the insurgents.

A US officer said: "All we've succeeded in doing is paying off the mujahideen to stop shooting at us. There's a cauldron of hate out there and its going to boil over." [...]

Iraqi Kids Suffer at Underfunded Hospital

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - At Baghdad's General Teaching Hospital for Children, children die each week from diarrhea because of poor sanitation, shortages of medical equipment and poorly trained staff. Diarrhea is common in the hot summer.

Three-month-old Ali twists his emaciated body and cries - but barely a sound comes out of his mouth. He's so sick from diarrhea and dehydration that his mother fears he won't make it. Doctors aren't sure either.

Even though improved medical care is a stated priority of U.S. occupation authorities, medicine is still costly and in short supply. Often, parents must buy medicine on the open market at prices many cannot afford.

Three-year-old Hussein Ibrahim al-Shammar and 4-month-old Abdullah Saad al-Jbouri were admitted with chest infections, but developed diarrhea after being hospitalized.

Cockroaches roam hospital wards and pools of urine in the corridors are not unusual. There is an overpowering stench from toilets that overflow into the wards; sewage sometimes runs through the corridors.

"He got sicker in hospital," Abdullah's mother Zahra al-Obeidi, 20, said Friday. She now brings her own sheets and buys his medication.

Hussein's grandfather, Ali Hassoun al-Hayali, a policeman, holds a small oxygen tube on the toddler's mouth because the hospital is so short-staffed that families often do the nursing. Doctors say many nurses do not have adequate training and cannot be trusted with even simple tasks.

Baby Ali opens his eyes, but they instantly shut again. His skin hangs from his bones. His eyes are too big for his face; his knees and long feet are too big for the stick-like legs that poke from under his diaper. His mother has placed a small Quran near his head.

Dr. Zainab Faik said Ali's case is complicated - he suffers from diarrhea, fever and a swollen abdomen. He has been given everything the hospital has to offer - antibiotics, blood plasma, IV fluid and a nasal gastric tube.

"His condition is grave," she said. "It hasn't improved since he was brought here" on May 15. "He can't take food, he can't even suck on food," she said.

The doctor said his chances of survival aren't good. "He doesn't have immunity against bacteria, his weight is low." Ali weighs only 6.6 pounds. [...]

The lab lacks many essential supplies. While it has blood gas analysis equipment, the staff doesn't know how to use it, Mohammed said. [...]

The doctors said U.S. Army medical teams and various humanitarian groups have come to the hospital in recent months and made lists of the medicine and supplies that are needed. But nothing has arrived.

About four months ago, the U.S. military brought several Iraqi workers to the hospital who cleaned and painted the walls and did some superficial repairs to the wards. They also took pictures with some of the children.

"Painting the walls is not so important. We need drugs," Faik said. [...]

Iraqi boy's eyesight may improve with surgery: Japanese doctor

A partially blind Iraqi boy who came to Japan for treatment as the wish of a journalist who died in the war-torn country may be able to have his sight improved, his doctor said.

The vision in the injured left eye of the boy, 10-year-old Mohammad Haisam Saleha, was not completely destroyed and can be made better through surgery, Seirei Numazu Hospital doctor, Takashi Kurihara, told reporters Saturday.

"Mohammad still has some vision (in his left eye) and through surgery it is possible to improve it although I cannot say by how much," Kurihara said.

The boy's eye was badly damaged by a glass shard during a firefight between US troops and insurgents in the central Iraq city of Fallujah last November.

Veteran war correspondent Shinsuke Hashida, 61, had been approached by the boy and his father for help in March and planned to bring him to Japan to receive medical care with the help of the local Rotary Club.

But Hashida was killed along with his nephew, 33-year-old freelance journalist Kotaro Ogawa, and their Iraqi translator last month when their car was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade south of Baghdad.

The boy and his father arrived in Japan on Friday.

Kurihara said he would like to operate on the boy as early as this month.

Rumsfeld justifies war on terror after ally says US is part of problem

SINGAPORE (AFP) - US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld delivered a strong justification for the war on terrorism here a day after being told by his host and close ally that the United States was "part of the problem".

Rumsfeld, in Singapore to shore up Asian support for the campaign against terror, warned Saturday of the devastating consequences if the United States and its allies should fail in Iraq, or give ground elsewhere around the globe. [...]

"The phenomenon of ideological expansion -- of which terrorism is the weapon of choice -- stands in the way of global political progress and economic prosperity, threatens the stability of the international order, and clouds the future of civil society."

Rumsfeld was speaking after Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong opened the conference on Friday night with a wide-ranging speech that included a blunt warning that the US stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was helping to fuel global terrorism.

"This is too important an issue to dress in diplomatic niceties. The US is essential to the solution but it is also part of the problem," Goh said, with Rumsfeld listening in the audience.

"A more balanced and nuanced approach towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict -- an approach that recognises that there are equities and inequities on both sides -- must become a central pillar of the global war on terrorism.

"The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a rallying cause for terrorism. We know that a solution to it will not end terrorism... but the discomfort that mainstream Muslims feel around the world feel with America's Middle East policies limits their ability to fight the ideological battle."

With Singapore counting Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, as a neighbour, and having to contain its own terrorist threat in recent years, Goh's views on the factors fuelling Islamic militancy are widely respected in Asia. [...]

Rumsfeld warns of long terror war

US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has said the world faces a prolonged struggle against Islamist extremism.

He told a security conference in Singapore that the US-led "war on terror" was only in its early stages.

He said there had been progress but "we remain closer to the beginning of this struggle than its end".

Mr Rumsfeld said he had no doubt there were more attacks to come and urged Asian nations to go on the offensive to root out terrorism at source.

[...] Mr Rumsfeld said he was optimistic about the future of Iraq.

He praised the economic growth and political freedoms of several Asian countries, which, he said, offered a model for the "breathtaking transformation" the US hoped to achieve in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Rumsfeld warns of growing risk of North Korean proliferation

US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld warned that protracted diplomatic negotiations were giving North Korea time to develop nuclear weapons, raising the risk they would fall into terrorist hands.

"It seems to me they have demonstrated a willingness to export anything," Rumsfeld told an international gathering here of security experts and government officials Saturday.

"And to the extent they have the capability they have indicated they have, reasonable people in the world would have to assume they would be willing to sell or use most of those capabilities," he said.

Comment: Rumsfeld would certainly be in a position to know given the amount of military hardware and training that the US has legally and illegally sold to other countries and terrorist regimes over the years.

Rumsfeld said Washington and other parties to the talks with North Korea were trying to get Pyongyang to dismantle its nuclear weapons program.

"Needless to say time works to the advantage of North Korea," he said. "Assuming their behavior is to continue their programs, the longer it takes the more dangerous presumably their capabilities would become."

In a question and answer session at the Asia Security Conference, Rumsfeld was asked about concerns that North Korea was capable of deniably smuggling a radiological bomb or even a nuclear weapon into the United States.

He said the United States was "imperfectly" arranged to prevent such threats and said countries needed to work more closely together on such problems. [...]

Comment: Sound familiar? It should - this is the same approach used with Iraq.

In a speech and in his remarks, Rumsfeld noted that Pakistani nuclear weapons scientist A.Q. Kahn had developed a network to supply nuclear technology to "outlaw" countries like Iran and North Korea that spanned from Europe to Southeast Asia.

Khan was pardoned by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf for selling the country's nuclear secrets. But Rumsfeld said he was confident Musharraf had stopped him, and that his network had been dismantled.

However, he said: "You never know what you don't know." [...]

Comment: Yes, that is so true... And this is why Americans need to willingly give up all their civil liberties - Big Brother must ensure everyone's safety by making sure that all unknown knowns and unknown unknowns become known knowns.

It's by Doug Thompson, the publisher of Capitol Hill Blue, put out in the dawn hours of June 4.

"President George W. Bush's increasingly erratic behavior and wide mood swings has the halls of the West Wing buzzing lately as aides privately express growing concern over their leader's state of mind."

So begins Thompson's insider report. He goes on,

"In meetings with top aides and administration officials, the President goes from quoting the Bible in one breath to obscene tantrums against the media, Democrats and others that he classifies as 'enemies of the state.'

"It reminds me of the Nixon days," says a longtime GOP political consultant with contacts in the White House. "Everybody is an enemy; everybody is out to get him. That's the mood over there." He was obviously talking of late, Watergate-enmired Nixon, when a drunken president would rail on far into the night, and when Kissinger put it around that he had taken over command of the nuclear button.

And talking of the nuclear button, Thompson says he's interviewed, off-the-record, a number of White House staffers who talk of Bujsh declaring that his decisions are "God's will" and then tells aides to "fuck over" anyone they consider to be an opponent of the administration.

He quotes one aide as telling him, "We're at war, there's no doubt about it. What I don't know anymore is just who the enemy might be. We seem to spend more time trying to destroy John Kerry than al Qaeda and our enemies list just keeps growing and growing."

Criticism is impossible. The president reacts fiercely. Here's how the Wednesday-night firing of CIA director George Tenet really went down, according to Thompson, citing an aide.

"Tenet wanted to quit last year but the President got his back up and wouldn't hear of it. That would have been the opportune time to make a change, not in the middle of an election campaign but when the director challenged the President during the meeting Wednesday, the President cut him off by saying 'that's it George. I cannot abide disloyalty. I want your resignation and I want it now."

Thompson writes that "Tenet was allowed to resign 'voluntarily' and Bush informed his shocked staff of the decision Thursday morning. One aide says the President actually described the decision as "God's will. God may also be the reason Attorney General John Ashcroft, the administration's lightning rod because of his questionable actions that critics argue threatens freedoms granted by the Constitution, remains part of the power elite. West Wing staffers call Bush and Ashcroft 'the Blues Brothers' because "they're on a mission from God."

"The Attorney General is tight with the President because of religion," says one aide. "They both believe any action is justifiable in the name of God."

The always testy Bush, now on a hair-trigger, flames out aides, calling them "fucking assholes" in front of other staff, or, of anyone he sees as critical, "unpatriotic" or "anti-American."

"The mood here is that we're under siege, there's no doubt about it,", Thompson cites one aide as saying. "In this administration, you don't have to wear a turban or speak Farsi to be an enemy of the United States. All you have to do is disagree with the President."

Comment: While we cannot confirm the accuracy of this report, it certainly wouldn't be a great surprise if most of it is true. In any case, it is quite clear that Tenet is being turned into the fallguy for 9/11 and Iraq. With the finger now pointing away from Bush, he is in a far better position to benefit from another terror attack on the US. Or so he thinks... But obviously, if he'd been able to think at all from the beginning, he wouldn't be in the mess he is in now...

The Christian Right needs to take a long, hard look at George W. Bush and decide "What Would Jesus Do?"

I imagined George W. Bush as the mean little kid who got his kicks by pulling legs off of grasshoppers, but I was wrong. Young George preferred sticking firecrackers in frogs' mouths and watching them explode (NYTimes, 5/21/00).

Put this together with a couple of DUIs, some questionable business dealings and a spotty military record, and you don't exactly have the resume of the leader of the free world. Fortunately for him, Bush doesn't have to worry about his past indiscretions because he has been "born again".

Not only have his sins been forgotten, but Bush was also blessed with the power to spread his Savior's message of peace and brotherhood around the world. What could possibly go wrong?

500,000 protest Bush's visit to Rome

Rome, Italy, Jun. 4 (UPI) -- Thousands filled Rome's streets Friday to protest President Bush's visit and their own country's involvement in the Iraq war, CNN reported.

Police deployed some 10,000 officers around Rome as an estimated 500,000 protested Bush's arrival and Italy's active support of the U.S. war in Iraq.

Protests, which were largely peaceful, reached a peak shortly after Bush had an audience with Pope John Paul II in Vatican City. During that meeting Bush gave the pontiff the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest U.S. honor given to civilians. [...]

Bush seeks new Iraq cooperation in Europe

ROME (AP) - President Bush, honoring allied sacrifices of World War II, appealed to a new generation of Europeans and Americans on Saturday to pull together on Iraq, saying the war against terror "is the challenge of our time.''

The president spoke at a joint news conference with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, one of his strongest allies in Iraq. Yet, Bush's itinerary in Italy - and later in France - represented a fresh reminder of the divisions on this side of the Atlantic.

In France, Bush will encounter one of his fiercest critics on Iraq, French President Jacques Chirac.

Bush said bitter differences over the war in Iraq are being dissolved into a "spirit of unity.''

Bush brushed off big demonstrations in Rome against his visit. "Democracy's a beautiful thing,'' he said. "I am pleased to be in a country where people are allowed to express their opinion. I believe the world understands the importance of a free Iraq emerging in the Middle East.''

Acknowledging differences among allies over the war, Bush said, "Now the world understands the importance of working with Iraqis'' to encourage the development of a free society.

[...] Bush said the West was at a "turning point in history'' akin to the struggle against communism after World War II.

"The free world could have either yielded to communism or stood up to communism right after World War II, and fortunately we stood up against communism,'' Bush said. ``Now Europe is free whole and peaceful, and we have the same issue today.

"The fundamental question is will we hold the line and hold our values and work to spread democracy, or will we yield to terrorism and resentment and hatered,'' Bush said.

"This is a turning point in history, it's an important moment,'' the president said.

Gore Lashes Out Again at Bush Administration

TACOMA, Wash. (Reuters) - Al Gore, continuing his stinging criticism of the Bush administration, denounced the war in Iraq and deplored the downturn in the U.S. economy.

The former Democratic vice president stopped short of reiterating his demands for the resignations of high-ranking officials in President Bush's cabinet.

Gore last week blamed Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, national security adviser Condoleezza Rice and others for bungling the war in Iraq.

"We have a responsibility to set this right," Gore told a crowd of more than 1,500 supporters, "Our standing in this world has been damaged very badly."

Gore said U.S. voters still had a chance to help the country regain credibility on the global stage by removing the current administration and electing John Kerry, the leading Democratic for November's presidential election.

"If this nation in November should affirm this administration, then we would be saying that's us," Gore said.

In several recent speeches since emerging from political seclusion, Gore has stepped up attacks on his foe in the disputed 2000 presidential election, blaming Bush for a prolonged economic downturn, hurting the environment and creating a crisis by leading the nation into a war with Iraq and then mismanaging the effort. The security or separation wall is a record of white racist thinking in South Africa. The world knew, in the past and recently, walls of physical, and not only racist separation; from the wall of China, which most of it fell, despite what is said about the fact that it is the only building on earth which could be seen from the moon; the Hadrian's wall, which the Romans built between England and Scotland's Barbarians, to the Maginot Line which did not stand a week in the face of Hitler's creeping, and the Berlin wall which fell in 1989, and from which I have a part.

If Israel was inspired by the wall between the United States and Mexico, it must know that this electronic wall does not stop tens of thousands of Mexicans from sneaking through the borders every year, in search for a job. On the other hand, the Palestinians do not need more than the sneaking of some individuals, in order to undertake suicide operations.

Ariel Sharon might be a monstrous criminal who killed and destroyed Rafah and its surroundings, because his only policy is killing and destruction. He is totally secular, and I do not think that he was inspired in building this wall, by the most famous wall in the history of Israel, the wall of Jericho which is mentioned in Joshua's voyage.

The story is a complete myth, in which history was mixed with legend, but it remains meaningful, as the Joshua's voyage talks about the occupation of the land, which we could consider as the start of what we are experiencing today, and starts with the oath: "After Moses, the servant of the LORD, had died, the LORD said to Moses' aide Joshua, son of Nun: "My servant Moses is dead. So prepare to cross the Jordan here, with all the people into the land I will give the Israelites. As I promised Moses, I will deliver to you every place where you set foot. Your domain is to be all the land of the Hittites, from the desert and from Lebanon east to the great river Euphrates and west to the Great Sea. No one can withstand you while you live."

This is the Jewish story of history; I do not believe that God gave Jews lands other than theirs; as it is clear in the text, and I do not believe that Joshua stopped the sun in order to defeat his enemies, as their defeat is a 1,000 times easier that stopping the sun in its course.

Anyway, after this introduction about giving Jews a land other than theirs, God suggested Joshua a way to destroy the Jericho wall: "Do this for six days, with seven priests carrying ram's horns ahead of the ark. On the seventh day march around the city seven times, and have the priests blow the horns. When they give a long blast on the ram's horns and you hear that signal, all the people shall shout aloud. The wall of the city will collapse, and they will be able to make a frontal attack."

If we were to believe this Biblical story, then the Jericho wall fell because of the horn blowing and screaming. Maybe Sharon could follow Joshua's style in destroying Jericho and killing its people; as Jews, after the fall of the wall, "began to shout. When they heard the signal horn, they raised a tremendous shout. The wall collapsed, and the people stormed the city in a frontal attack and took it. They observed the ban by putting to the sword all living creatures in the city: men and women, young and old, as well as oxen, sheep and asses."

Did anyone of Jericho's people survive? Rahab the harlot and her people did, according to the story of Joshua, as she hided two of Joshua's messengers, and was rewarded by staying alive along with its family.

All Joshua's voyage is about killing and destruction, along with Sharonian violence. Also, five kings that were defeated hided in a cave, and when they got out, Joshua ordered his men to march on their necks, then they were killed and hung, and other kings were killed. Nevertheless, the voyage clearly mentions that Jews did not occupy all the land that their God gave them, just as Sharon and his men currently share a land that is not theirs.

Former Arthur Andersen division wins $10 billion contract to track foreigners in U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security awarded a huge border security contract to Accenture, LLP this week. Under the contract, Accenture will create and maintain a database of photographs and fingerprints of all foreign visitors to the U.S. The contract is estimated to be worth as much $10 billion over the next ten years.

That's reprehensible, of course, but it gets worse. Accenture was formerly known as Andersen Consulting, the consulting division of the accounting firm Arthur Andersen.

Andersen Consulting officially split off from Arthur Andersen in August 2000, and was not directly involved in producing Andersen's misleading financial statements for Enron, Sunbeam, Waste Management, and others. These statements were produced by the accounting division of the company.

However, Andersen Consulting sold those accounting clients hundreds of millions of dollars worth of overpriced "business services." These lucrative deals led the consulting division to put enormous pressure on the accounting side of the company to keep their clients happy at any cost ... even if it meant "cooking the books" to cover their clients' shady business practices.

The Department of Homeland Security's decision to create a Soviet-style, paranoid database of every single foreign visitor to this country raises many concerns. But handing it over to a company with Accenture's history all but guarantees that it will be handled in the most corrupt and offensive manner possible. [...]

Job Gains Offer Little Comfort in Heartland

CHICAGO (Reuters) - New government data may show U.S. manufacturers finally starting to hire workers but in the American heartland it did not feel that way on Friday, when yet another major manufacturing company said it would cut jobs.

Maytag Corp., a more than century old household name in the United States for appliances such as refrigerators and vacuum cleaners, said it planned to cut 20 percent of its salaried workers, or 1,100 jobs, and merge its Hoover vacuum unit with other products.

The decision is potentially devastating to North Canton, Ohio, where Hoover is the largest employer, and to Newton, Iowa, where staffing will be cut at Maytag's company headquarters.

Maytag's announcement came on the same day the U.S. government reported stronger than expected national growth in jobs during May. There were even some job increases in the hard-hit manufacturing sector.

The stock market rose after the report and President Bush hailed it as a sign of a strengthening economy.

But the government report and the Maytag announcement highlight Bush's reelection dilemma -- jobs are not being generated quickly in states where he needs votes. [...]

This just in: Prozac is a better treatment than talking to your kid. Isn't life fabulous?

Is your teenager depressed? Throwing things? Sulking like she hates you and only speaking in monosyllabic grunts and playing her Staind or Avril Lavigne or Hoobastank MP3s way too loud? Sure she is. Damn kids.

Are they slouching way too much and wearing low-slung clothes and locking the door to their bedrooms and masturbating chronically, and then racking up huge cell-phone bills as they complain endlessly to their best friend about their unrequited loves and horrible parents and how much they hate life and how they're always despondent and put upon and pimply and miserable?

Solution: You need to give them drugs. Lots of drugs. Expensive ones with nice little corporate logos on them. This is the only way.

Haven't you been reading the papers? Watching the commercials? Drugs are in. Drugs are the new black. Drugs rain down from the sky like pretty purple Skittles. Drugs are mandatory and the most important advancement in child rearing since the invention of the cane and the padlock and the Catholic priest.

No, not the bad drugs. Not the drugs that cool people take and that make your kids party hard and dance all night and that make their eyes all red and mushy and makes colors swirl and skin feel like honey and makes them horny or hungry or feel really really good for awhile, until they don't. Not the ones that are cheaply produced and impossible to regulate and as easy to get as degrading sexual misinformation in public schools is. Not those.

No, your kid needs the other kind of drugs. The good kind. The kind prescribed by overpaid shrinks after the kid's umpteenth $300 visit. The kind that run about seven bucks a pop and are made by Pfizer or GlaxoSmithKline or maybe Eli Lilly, and which are roughly three times more toxic and 10 times more synthetic and a thousand times more spiritually debilitating than the "evil" street stuff, given how they're totally legal and corporate sponsored and therefore radiate this sinister venomous aura of happy culturally approved doom.

Behavioral modifiers. Prozac. Paxil. Zoloft. Effexor. Xanax. Et al. You name it, your kids can have it, and probably should. Millions are already addicted. Millions more will be by the end of this year, if not by the end of this column. Maybe you're one of them, yourself. Hi. Isn't the sky lovely today? Yes, it sure is.

Just look at them, the well-drugged teens of America, all calm and happily narcotized, walking around with their eyes glazed over and their shirts untucked and their souls drained of all vital juices. God bless America at its world-record 25 percent mood-disorder rate! The most-drugged nation on the planet! We're No. 1! So proud.

Don't you want your child happy and well-adjusted and violently, chemically torqued, his or her entire body ravaged by enough synthetic compounds and serotonin reuptake inhibitors and mood enhancers to numb a horse? Of course you do.

Hey, they've done studies. Studies that finally prove once and for all that Prozac is much more effective on your depressed miserable slouchy door-slammin' punkass teen than merely talking to him and loving him well and teaching him to appreciate life and sex and spirituality and fine artisan cheeses. So you know it must be true.

And do you know why? Why the Prozac is more effective? Because it's a potent chemical narcotic, silly! It rewires their brains and poisons their little juvenile blood vessels and kills any pesky burgeoning testosteroned sex drive once and for all!

Imagine! No more worries! No more teen pregnancy! It's just like neutering your dog! Or getting a catalytic converter on the car! Or laying down beige shag carpeting everywhere! Everything calm and soft and nonirritating, all edges filed right down. Isn't pharmacology fabulous?

Never you mind the pesky lawsuits. Like the one just filed by the New York attorney general against Glaxo over how they supposedly suppressed a bunch of studies that proved how their beloved zim-zammer brain-slammer Paxil made a bunch of kids even more twitchy and despondent and, whoops, suicidal.

Shhh. Hey, it was only a handful of kids, all right? Maybe, like, 10. Or 50. Who knows? "Acceptable losses," as they say in military parlance. Small price to pay for a whirling nation of numb smiling partially lobotomized teens who will open the door for you and say yes sir and no ma'am and wash your car for a dollar. Am I right? Goddamn right.

Never you mind, furthermore, that we have become a nation of sweetly drug-addled automatons begging at the hand of the giant pharmcos, and that only a fraction of the kids whose parents now have them sucking down behavioral meds like M&Ms actually need them, actually has severe enough brain issues and chemical imbalances and psychoemotional traumas that these drugs are small miracles.

Nossir, never you mind that the rest of those millions of nubile doe-eyed Prozac/Zoloft/Xanax teen addicts are merely being medicated to death for no viable reason whatsoever, other than the fact that they're just a bunch of angry depressed miserable angst-ridden teens and their parents are sick of trying to cope with it.

But, wait, isn't the angry-teen thing a part of life? Isn't that a mandatory stage for just about every kid nationwide, right before they evolve past it and their skin clears up and they finally get laid and then get old enough to drink and buy a minivan and have kids and finally join AA like good Christian adults?

And is it worth noting, again, that most of our drug-happy nation is merely seeking sad, silver-bullet relief from what has become a truly staggering and vicious array of social and government-sponsored ills, and are merely poisoning their bodies and numbing their minds simply because they're stressed and bored and overworked and undersexed?

Whoops, sorry. Got carried away there. Let's stay focused on the kids. Happy, happy kids. Let's not get away from the frightening fact that the U.S. now harbors millions -- millions! -- of Prozac-addicted teens and no one blinks an eye, and yet one kid ODs on ecstasy at a rave due to rampant insulting misinfo put out by the CDC and suddenly it's furrowed brows and pointing fingers and scrunched imbecilic senators railroading the moronic RAVE Act through Congress as they suck down another fistful of Vicodin with their fourth martini. The simpering hypocrites.

Whoops, sorry again. No name-calling. That never gets us anywhere. Guess I'm just getting a bit angry. Maybe a little frustrated at the rampant wholesale corporate-sponsored government-enhanced parentally condoned drugging of kids in this country, and what that means for our future, and theirs, and the future of their attitudes and perspectives and the deterioration of their brains, penises, souls, karmas, love lives, vibration, evolutionary status.

Maybe I'm just getting a little too goddamn depressed by it all. Maybe I just need a pill. And a drink. Ahhh, there now. Much better. Thank you, Eli Lilly. We're No. 1!

Veneman: We Expect Further Cases of BSE to be Found

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman says she is expecting more cases of mad cow disease to be found in the United States, as meat inspection systems are improved. The Secretary says she can't predict how key buyers of U.S. beef, like Japan, will react.

Japan was the United States' biggest beef customer before a single mad cow case in Washington State. Now Australia is the main supplier as the U.S. works to restore Japanese confidence, which Veneman admits could be tough. [...]

Virus kills dozens

Montreal — A virulent infection has killed dozens of people in Montreal and Calgary, it was announced Friday.

Local hospital officials in Montreal said that at least three dozen people had died of the virus. The Canadian Medical Association Journal said the toll could be as high as 89, including 10 in Calgary.

The infection, Clostridium difficile, is the most common cause of infectious diarrhea in the industrialized world, and research suggests that 20 per cent of people who contract it get it from taking antibiotics.

Dr. Francoise Chagnon, director of professional services at the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, said that she stands by the hospital's decision not to alert the public immediately but feels now that it is time for Canadians to be notified.

As hospital officials in Quebec are working with Montreal health officials in tracking the illness, one spokesman said it is too early to sound the alarm.

"It's not a new infection," said Dr. John Carsley, head of the infectious disease unit of the Montreal public health department. [...]

However, he said the latest outbreak is mild compared with one in 2001, in which the 10 patients referred to in the Journal article died.

Almost all the patients infected recently have been treated and are responding well, he said. [...]

Dr. Sandra Dial, an intensive-care doctor at the Montreal Chest Institute, said her team's hypothesis is that patients taking antibiotics and acid suppressors known as proton pump inhibitors are more susceptible to C. difficile. The inhibitors reduce stomach acids. [...]

"For sure there were 17 deaths that I'm absolutely sure were related to the disease and another 13 more that I think are most likely related to the disease," she said.

Britain fights for giant squid

Britain is expecting a fight with other EU fishing nations on Monday as it calls for a United Nations ban on deep-sea trawling to preserve creatures such as the giant squid.

Trawling on deep-sea mountains and cold coral reefs is thought to be exceptionally damaging ecologically because of the slow growth rates of creatures at great depths.

A reef is believed to take 100,000 years to recover from the damage caused by a bottom trawl. Elliott Morley, the environment minister, said yesterday: "We would support a ban on destructive fisheries in international waters. These are very important ecosystems."

Simon Reddy, of Greenpeace, said: "More people have been into space than into the dark depths of the oceans. Scientists say there could be as many as five million species we've never discovered. Destroying sea mounts is like blowing up Mars before we get a chance to explore it."

Comment: Don't worry about the Iraqi children dying each day in half-destroyed, sewage drenched, cockroach infested hospitals that are a direct result of the invasion by the US, Britain, and the rest of the Coalition of the Billing - just save the giant squid!!
