We received a response on the Signs Interactive page to a comment we made yesterday. It offers the opportunity to look at the question of purpose in more detail. We wrote:

"Most people are essentially useless to life and creation, they serve no purpose other than to reflect lies and illusions and to be the lifeless pawns of their taskmasters who manipulate them at their will." From our point of view this is what we see. People live mechanical lives contributing nothing new to Creation.

That of course, does not mean that they serve no purpose whatsoever. They are necessary in the role they perform, that of food. Creation could not exist without them.

This comment provoked a long reaction from a reader in the USA.

Reader: Come now, is this not rather harsh?

Harsh? We thought we were being kind. The esoteric tradition discussed by Gurdjieff and Mouravieff states quite clearly they have a role, and we thought we would try to inject a positive note into the text even if it is not one of those things that can be readily verified.

We quote from Mouravieff:

As a cell of humanity, man forms part of organic life on Earth. This life in its ensemble represents a very sensitive organ of our planet, playing an important role in the economy of the solar system. As a cell of this organ, man finds himself under the influence of the General Law, which keeps him in his place. In fact, this law leaves him a certain margin or tolerance. It allows him some free movement within the limits it sets. Within these boundaries, which are very limited objectively although subjectively they appear vast, man can give free rein to his fantasies and his ambitions. Without going too far into the definition of these limits and detailed description of the components of this General Law, we can say as an example that one of those factors is hunger: the servitude of working to assure our subsistence. The chain: sexual instinct; procreation; and the care of parents for their children, is another factor. The esoteric maxim that applies to this aspect of life is conceived thus: carnal love is necessary for the general good. Lastly, fear in its many forms constitutes the third group of factors in question. On the whole, the permitted margin for free movement tolerated by the General Law is limited by something best described in a term less scientific than colourful: bourgeois happiness. Careers in every branch of human activity; for- tune; family; love; honours etc.; all are subject to the sine qua non condition of unconditional if only subconscious acceptance of the inevitability of Death.

[…]

An atmosphere is the sine qua non condition of organic life, characterized by respiration. Even more, it is the conductor of all kinds of terrestrial and extra-terrestrial influences including planetary, solar and cosmic influences whose radiation penetrates the atmosphere, and which are absorbed by respiration. Man is ignorant of many of these influences, which when absorbed by respiration immediately penetrate into the blood, and then pass through his organs and so through all his psychological centres.

The following three notes of the cosmic lateral octave, LA, SOL and FA, in their ensemble, make up organic life on Earth. FA corresponds to vegetable life, SOL to animal life, and LA to human life. Yoked together, these three notes constitute an organ of the planet, a kind of highly sensitive membrane, a station of transmission for the creative energy which issues from the Absolute I, which reaches it by the mediation of the Absolute II. It is by means of carnal love-the note SOL of the lateral octave-and by perpetual rebirth, that this organ is maintained, evolves, and assures the transmission of the creative energy from the Absolute I across the interval between FA and MI of the Great Octave. The notes MI and RE of the lateral octave merge with those of the Great Octave, and are represented by the body of the Earth and that of the Moon respectively. The action of the two notes, MI and RE of the lateral octave, manifests as development of these two bodies.

[…]

If the Tritocosmos is life on Earth -and the life of the Earth, in as much as it is a living Being -the notion of the Tessaracosmos is related in an analogous way to our satellite. This means that the Moon, from the point of view of the System of Cosmoses, is only a foetus, approaching the end of the period of pregnancy: the Tessaracosmos has not yet been born. It must absorb the energies and elements made necessary by its incomplete growth. In fact, a massive supply of these elements is becoming accessible to it from the progress of technology, with the accelerated multiplication and new organization of human society, the growth of livestock breeding, and the rationalization of agriculture. These elements promise a rapid increase in growth in the next century. And like the foetus in the mother's womb, the Tessaracosmos exercises an enormous influence on the Tritocosmos, and so on man, who is an integral part of organic life on earth and so contributes to the growth of the Moon, the cosmic foetus.

[…]

We are thus led to the constatation that if, on the one hand, the development of the Universe has not yet been completed along our Ray of Creation- since the Tessaracosmos has not yet been born -then on the other hand, and at the other extremity of the gamut, 20 the evolution of man as an individual is also almost at a standstill, marking time at the level of the three lower centres, that is to say, at the level of these three dissociated forces in exterior man. It is necessary for him to realize their unity, and this is the practical aim of esoteric study and work…

The ideas and the facts explained in this chapter allow the reader to perceive the role assigned to man in the ensemble of the System of Cosmoses, and the responsibility which this places upon him.

Under the somewhat antiseptic language of esoteric Christianity, we see the idea that man is food "for the moon," and thereby fulfils his place in the cosmic order of things.

Can man become something more?

Yes, of course. That something more and how to do it is the main subject of Mouravieff's book. However, to become that something more entails a conscious choice to remove oneself from what Mouravieff terms the General Law. It means giving oneself an AIM rather than accepting the predefined purpose determined by the universe. As is always the case, if one does not take one's life into one's hands and makes one's own decisions, the universe will make those decisions for you -- and they will not necessarily be in the best interest of your Real 'I'.

To give oneself an AIM has the consequence of setting oneself against the General Law. That is when esoteric work really begins.

Reader: Are you not perhaps allowing bitterness and cynicism to cloud your vision?

Stating the cold, hard truths of existence, that is, seeing objective reality, might seem bitter and cynical to some. For us, on the contrary, it is reassuring to know that we aren't crazy and that there is an explanation for the state of the world and the terror of the situation.

Reader: I understand your point, but it is easy to become disheartened and succumb to despair, as we observe the ever more blatant activities of the Controllers and their henchmen, in these disturbing and transitional times.

You mention "these disturbing and transitional times." What do you think we are transitioning to? Something better? Something worse? What determines the outcome?

For our part, we think that Mother Nature is preparing to rid herself of the melanoma spreading across her skin. If one identifies with humanity, this might be cause for despair. If one identifies with Creation, it is a time for rejoicing.

Reader: Unless we are privy to the mind of the Creator ourselves, how can we know what part another plays in the Creation?

Exactly. So how can you be so certain that any of us are MORE than food for the moon? Might not this be simply wishful thinking on your part? The argument about knowing the mind of the Creator argument cuts both ways. Because we cannot know the mind of the Creator, we must look at WHAT IS, at objective reality.

What do we see when we look at the world, at the objective relations between people?

If you study the relations between humans, be they the relations of groups or the relations of individuals, you can see feeding. People are feeding off of each other all the time. It is constant. Given the existence of continual feeding, we can state that we are food.

We said above that the idea of the esoteric Tradition that we are food for the moon is difficult to verify. It concerns a realm about which we have no direct experience. Therefore, we treat it is an hypothesis. We can accumulate data about the world and see whether or not it fits the hypothesis. We may never be able to "prove" or "disprove" this hypothesis, but we can assign it greater or lesser weights of probability. The feeding frenzy that we see in front of us day in and day out certainly gives weight to the possibility of a feeding frenzy in other realms. As above, so below; as below, so above.

Reader: How, for example, can we blame the most helpless and fragile of our civilization for the plight they find themselves in? The forgotten, poverty-stricken and diseased -- the homeless and oppressed. Even those who live mindless lives of materialistic pleasure, having succumbed to the lures of western capitalism?

We do not assign blame. We attempt to state the facts from where we are looking out over the panorama of human existence. It is not a pretty sight. There are billions of people on this planet who are born, suffer, and die - for what purpose?

To permit them to fall in love, have a family, and continue the chain of life and death?

How many people have an AIM in their lives? How many people accept the purpose given to them by the universe?

These people are FOOD. Pure and simple. They are FOOD. Their pain, their suffering, their despair are a great banquet.

If you reread the first paragraph from Mouravieff above, you'll see that everything that is considered a part of daily life, including the "good parts," that is, love and family, falls under the shadow of Death. It is part of the process of being FOOD.

Reader: Do the Higher Selves of reincarnating beings make 'poor choices' -- or do we all together create a magnificent, symbiotic, holographic melodrama wherein some evolve a bit more quickly than others?

Does everyone have a Higher Self? Or does one create and build that Higher Self through one's choices and work?

We do not believe that everyone on this planet has a Higher Self. Some may have the potential for a Higher Self, but not everyone. See our article on Organic Portals. See our work on psychopaths.

As for the grand scheme of things, perhaps from the point of view of the Creator, the tapestry of life is as you describe. Everything has its place in the Cosmic Scheme of Things. Unfortunately, from where we are stuck, part of Creation is attempting to kill off another part of Creation: Entropy tries to bring existence into non-existence, tries to negate Creation. It isn't pretty, and perhaps we make "poor", but necessary, choices until we learn not to.

Reader: I believe there is dignity and beauty in every Being upon this Earth, human or otherwise -- and that that is always reflected, visible in that Being's eyes and/or through the frequency signature that radiates, however feebly, through its heart-centre.

Where does your belief come from?

What do you see in George Bush's eyes when he stands before you with his crooked smirk emoting on "freedom"? What do you sense radiating from his "heart-centre"?

What do you see in Ariel Sharon's eyes? What do you sense radiating from his "heart-centre"?

Do they even have a "heart-centre"?

We know people who have no light whatsoever in their eyes. They are the living DEAD. You don't need to go to the cinema to see them.

Reader: I also believe that we are doomed if we lose faith in that Divine spark animating all here, at the most intrinsic, intimate level. That it is there, within the least of us -- and yet as well within those who fancy themselves amongst the 'highest' echelon of humanity, and who abuse their privileges....as, even with these oppressors of their own kind, there still lives that energetic connection to Source...buried though it may be.

We think that we are doomed if we continue to believe the fairy tales that everyone is basically good and everyone is animated by the same manifestation of the Divine Spark. We think that there are two evolutionary paths, one leads towards Creation, the other towards entropy. The default position in this world is entropy. To align oneself with the Creative path, one must make the choice to change direction, one must ACT, one must DO. But to DO, one must stop being mechanical, stop being a machine to whom things happen and must develop one's will to become the actor.

But before, one must recognize that one is a machine, and that the spark, if still lit, is weak indeed.

The level of self-deception between these two positions - mechanical being and willed being -- is enormous. Entropy masquerades as Creation, obscuring the difference between the two, luring us with nonsense about the "Divine spark" that we all share. If you see only one, it is because you see only the dark light of entropy, the pulsing "heart-centre" of its latest victim being swallowed up.

Reader: So, what I am saying is that, though some or all of our energy may be simply supplying 'food' to these Controllers, all of us nevertheless retain that energetic connection to Source which can never be completely severed. We must never give up our belief in the intrinsic beauty, hope and dignity with which every creature here has been endowed, by virtue of this inalienable affiliation with the Divine Mind and participatory rights to the Law of One.

It is a question of whether that link with the SOURCE goes up or down, is it via the ascending, Creative aspect of the Source or the descending, entropic aspect of the Source. Both are part of the Source, yes, but their manifestations are the mirror opposites of each other. And this is one of the big illusions people have so much trouble giving up. People do not want to believe that there are Bad People. People do not want to believe that this is the world of the Demiurge, the Devil. People do not want to believe that the default position on this planet is negative, entropic.

"How can this be the Devil's world? Just look outside, see the trees, the flowers, the fuzzy, warm little animals. See how much Mommy loves Daddy and all their love for little Baby!"

Moreover, both paths are paths of Love, although Creation is love of all creation and Entropy is love of self. Confuse the two and you are lunch.

We have been hypnotized to discern no difference.

"There is an Eastern tale which speaks about a very rich magician who had a great many sheep. But at the same time this magician was very mean. He did not want to hire shepherds, nor did he want to erect a fence about the pasture where his sheep were grazing. The sheep consequently often wandered into the forest, fell into ravines, and so on, and above all they ran away, for they knew that the magician wanted their flesh and skins and this they did not like.

"At last the magician found a remedy. He hypnotized his sheep and suggested to them first of all that they were immortal and that no harm was being done to them when they were skinned, that, on the contrary, it would be very good for them and even pleasant; secondly he suggested that the magician was a good master who loved his flock so much that he was ready to do anything in the world for them; and in the third place he suggested to them that if anything at all were going to happen to them it was not going to happen just then, at any rate not that day, and therefore they had no need to think about it. Further the magician suggested to his sheep that they were not sheep at all; to some of them he suggested that they were lions, to others that they were eagles, to others that they were men, and to others that they were magicians.

"And after this all his cares and worries about the sheep came to an end. They never ran away again but quietly awaited the time when the magician would require their fleshand skins."

People prefer to believe that "every creature here has been endowed with an intrinsic beauty, hope, and dignity." It makes them docile. It keeps them in their pens.

Where is George Bush's intrinsic beauty, hope, and dignity? What do you see in HIS eyes?

Where is Ariel Sharon's intrinsic beauty, hope, and dignity? What do you see in HIS eyes?

Rather than hanging on to a belief in intrinsic beauty, hope, and dignity, we think that we must recognize that this exists only in potential. One must work for it. One must earn it. To do so, one must begin to see things are they are, in all the horror. One must come face to face with despair and continue on in spite of it.

WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD

(George Weiss / Bob Thiele)

(Click here for a Flash presentation)

I see trees of green

red roses too

I see them bloom for me and you

Iraqis pick up body parts after rockets hit two hotels, a hospital and a police vehicle maintenance department in the northern city of Mosul, Iraq, Sunday, April 25, 2004.

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white

The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night

An Iraqi woman soothes her 12-year-old wounded daughter. Ayid was injured overnight in an incident involving U.S. troops and forces of cleric Moqtada al-Sadr in the Baghdad suburb of Al Sadr City. Three sisters were burned when their house, which was in the area of a firefight, caught fire.

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky

Are also on the faces of people going by

I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"

They're really saying "I love you"

Youths stand on one of four military vehicles destroyed by a blast in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad April 26, 2004. Do these people look like terrorists, or ordinary Iraqis who simply want their country back?

I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow

They'll learn much more than I'll ever know

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Oh yeah

US to hold detainees at Guantanamo indefinitely

By Bill Dedman, Globe Correspondent | April 25, 2004

WASHINGTON -- Most of the 595 suspected terrorists detained by the United States at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will be held indefinitely, even though there is not yet enough evidence to charge them with crimes, a senior Pentagon official said in an interview with the Globe.

The accounting by Paul W. Butler, special assistant to Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, was the first acknowledgment by the government that hundreds of detainees will probably be held without facing military tribunals. Officials have spoken publicly about the prospect of indefinite detentions for some, but they had not disclosed that the majority could be held until the war on terrorism is finished. Unless the US Supreme Court intervenes, the Bush administration plans to hold the prisoners who it believes are dangerous or who can provide useful information in fighting Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

''What I'm saying is that there is a large percentage right now who are either high threat or high intelligence value, that right now there's no intention to try them before a military commission," Butler told the Globe. ''They're dangerous. And we have a responsibility, both to our forces . . . and the rest of the world, to not let those people back out

Comment: With "al-Qaeda" a phony creation of US and Israeli intelligence agencies, and the Taleban no different that the current bunch of cut-throats staffing the US government by proxy in Afghanistan, it is clear that the unfortunates being held in Guantanamo are there for a reason that has nothing to do with the "war on terror". There will be no court hearings, not even a military tribunal, for these men, probably because any public discussion of their cases would reveal officially that there is no case against them, and may even expose the real reason they are being held.

As far as deciding what possible "use" these men could be put to by the psychopaths currently running the US, let your imagination be your guide...

Flashback: US turns to torture to crack prisoners of war

By Dana Priest and Barton Gellman
December 27 2002

Deep inside the forbidden zone at the United States-occupied Bagram air base in Afghanistan are a cluster of metal shipping containers protected by a triple layer of concertina wire.

The containers hold the most valuable prizes in the US-led war in Afghanistan - suspected al-Qaeda operatives and Taliban commanders.

Those who refuse to co-operate inside the secret CIA interrogation centre are sometimes kept standing or kneeling for hours, in black hoods or spray-painted goggles, intelligence specialists familiar with CIA interrogation methods say.

At times they are held in awkward, painful positions and deprived of sleep with a 24-hour bombardment of lights - subject to what are known as "stress and duress" techniques.

Those who co-operate are rewarded by interrogators whose methods include feigned friendship, respect, cultural sensitivity and, in some cases, money. The most hardened cases are turned over - "rendered", in official parlance - to foreign intelligence services whose practice of torture has been documented by the US Government and human rights organisations.

US officials have said little publicly about interrogation methods, but interviews with former intelligence officials and 10 current national security officials, some of whom have seen the handling of prisoners, provide insight into how the US Government is conducting this part of the war. The picture that emerges is of a brass-knuckled quest for information, often in concert with allies of dubious human-rights reputation, in which the traditional lines between right and wrong, legal and inhumane, are evolving and blurred.

While the US Government publicly denounces the use of torture, all of the national security officials interviewed defended the use of violence against captives as "just and necessary", and they were confident the American public would back their view. The CIA, which has responsibility for interrogations, declined to comment.

"If you don't violate someone's human rights some of the time, you probably aren't doing your job," said one official who has supervised the capture and transfer of accused terrorists. "I don't think we want to be promoting a view of zero tolerance on this."

Flashback: U.S. Decries Abuse but Defends Interrogations

'Stress and Duress' Tactics Used on Terrorism Suspects Held in Secret Overseas Facilities (Guantanamo for example)

Flashback: ‘US had role in Taleban prisoner deaths’

ANDREW McLEOD foreign editor
14 Jun 2002

US SOLDIERS took part in the torture of Taleban prisoners and may have had a role in the "disappearance" of around 3,000 men in Mazar-i-Sharif in north-west Afghanistan, according to a new documentary.

Massacre at Mazar, by Scots film producer Jamie Doran, was shown on Wednesday in the Reichstag, the German parliament building in Berlin and the European parliament in Strasbourg.

Much of Mr Doran’s footage in the 20-minute preview of a future full-length documentary film was taken secretly.

In one sequence, a witness claims he saw a US soldier break an Afghan prisoner’s neck and pour acid on others.

Endless Detentions, Endless Power

by William Hughes
Saturday 24 April 2004

Whether 600 foreigners, who have been languishing at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba for over two years, will ever get any due process, was argued, in Washington, DC, before the Supreme Court on April 20, 2004. They were captured, mainly in Afghanistan, and were allegedly associated with the Taliban. The issue before the country’s top tribunal boils down to one simple, but profound, question: “Do U.S. Courts have jurisdiction to hear the prisoners’ complaints?”

The Bush-Cheney Gang insists the courts don’t, because the Naval Base is foreign territory. John Gibbons, the detainees’ lawyer, says that’s nonsense. He rightly pointed out that you can’t mail a letter from the Naval Base using a stamp with Fidel Castro’s mug on it. Since 1903, the U.S. government has been leasing the grounds on which the Naval Base sits from the Cubans. The base, however, operates independently from the Cuban regime, which has technical sovereignty over it.

Unfortunately, these Naval Base detainees are in a lawless limbo, that even the immortal Dante could not have envisioned in his classic, “The Divine Comedy.” According to Donald Rumsfeld, the Pentagon Czar, the detainees are all “enemy combatants,” not POWs, and that under American law, they have no rights at all. Keep in mind, that Rumsfeld has been caught deliberately misleading the U.S. Congress, and the American people, too, with respect to those bogus reasons that were given for the immoral, unjust and illegal U.S.-led invasion and occupation of Iraq.

I strongly disagree with Secretary Rumsfeld on this matter of basic human decency and international law. I believe that these men are POWs under the Geneva Convention and that it’s wrong to treat them in such an uncivilized manner. I suspect, however, that a mostly conservative Supreme Court, dominated by Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, will be looking hard to find a procedural avenue to defer to the wishes of the Bush administration. Whichever way the court’s decision goes, it will be a very close one, probably by a 5 to 4, or 6 to 3 majority.

Now, that brings me to the Jose Padilla and Yaser Esam Hamdi consolidated case that will come before the High Court on April 28th. Unlike the Naval Base detainees, however, both of these men are American citizens and that is an extremely important distinction. They also have been labeled as “enemy combatants” - Padilla for allegedly plotting to make a “dirty bomb” for Al Qaeda, and - Hamdi for supposedly fighting for the Taliban in Afghanistan. The Pentagon (read Rumsfeld) is also their jailer. And, the duo have been denied most of their constitutional rights.

Comment: Remember, Padilla is accused of making a "dirty bomb" for "al-Qaeda", the Israeli/US "straw man". Hamdi is "accused" of fighting against the US army when they invaded and occupied his country. Both clearly are being set up to be tried and prosecuted as US citizen "enemy combatants", thereby providing a precedent for doing the exactly the same to any other US citizen that the NeoCons deem a "threat" to the homeland. Consider the fact that in Ashcroft's eyes, you, dear reader, simply by reading this page, could be seen as just such a "threat".

Moving on to the possible implications for our civil liberties of this landmark case: If Bush gets away with running roughshod over the fundamental rights of these two guys: Padilla and Hamdi, then why can’t he do the same thing to any other citizen that shows up in the secret files of John Ashcroft, Tom Ridge, or worse, that slippery Neocon, Elliott Abrams, over at the National Security Council?

For example, the Justice Department is presently prosecuting a case out in Boise, Idaho, under the controversial provisions of the USA Patriot Act. The defendant, a Saudi student, Sami Omar Al-Hussayen, 34, is accused, among other things, of using his computer to help Islamic militants in the Middle East. He has already spent 14 months in jail, and if convicted, could face a sentence of up to 25 years in a prison (“AP,” 04/14/04). Meanwhile, President Bush is pushing the Congress for the USA Patriot Act to be made permanent. He brags that it has made “America safer” (“Baltimore Sun,” 04/20/04). One of the toughest critics of the draconian Patriot Act , Professor David Cole of the Georgetown School of Law, sharply disagrees. In his latest book, “Enemy Aliens,” Professor Cole underscores that, historically, the insidious pattern of government responses to national security “is to first target foreign nationals and then later to expand those tactics to Americans” (“First Foreigners, Then Americans,” Kim Zetter, “Wired News,” 04/20/04).

And, all of the above takes me to my final point. The important decision in the Padilla and Hamdi case is expected in July. If the Supreme Court gives the Bush-Cheney Gang a green light, then say good bye to our Republic. The police state, and the national nightmare of endless Pentagon detentions and endless presidential power, will be here!

Devils From Heaven

How religious myths prevent and pervert rational debate

John Kaminski, February 2004

"And thousands of years before the time of the so-called Jesus, there are these interesting facts in the legend of Horus of Egypt: he was born of the virgin Isis-Meri on December 25th in a cave/manger with his birth being announced by a star in the East and attended by three wise men; he performed miracles, exorcised demons and raised El-Azarus (El-Osiris) from the dead. Horus also walked on water and delivered a "Sermon on the Mount." He was crucified between two thieves, buried for three days in a tomb, and resurrected"

This time around, wouldn't you know, the Christian religion and the Jews are working together again. Evangelicals are doing everything they can to support Israel's monstrous policies because they figure, according to the script featured in the Bible's Book of Revelation, that their wished-for messiah will arrive after Armageddon happens in Israel. The U.S. government appears to be following this script, doing everything it can to make sure it happens. Thus, consider this psychotic religious alliance: evangelical Christians support Israel because Israel is intent on blowing itself up, thereby enabling the Christian messiah - you know, the Horus clone and his father El Shaddai - to return to Earth and choose 144,000 of their most pious followers to come and board and trek off to (ha) God knows where.

The Israelis keep taking money from the evangelicals (as well as all Americans through excessive foreign aid), but prohibit visiting Christians from talking about Jesus while they're there. The Jews won't make the mistake they made in Rome. Now, they have the nukes. And a time-tested argument is now on their side, instead of working against them. It goes like this. Once you can get people to believe things you can definitely prove are not true, you can get them to believe anything. Are you listening, Baby Jesus? No, I didn't think so. Mythological political constructs don't hear that well. The claim that Israel has a right to steal all that land in the Middle East because of some Biblical reference is utterly false, for a multitude of reasons, only some of which have been alluded to here.

The human race desperately needs to understand the difference between its need to believe and what it actually believes in. But by the time we figure that out, it will probably be too late, and the evangelicals will get their wish. The human race, grasshoppers and all, will get that same wish, too - that death wish.

Comment: The excerpted article is a brief summary of how religion has throughout the ages worked as a divide and conquer scheme, run with seeming preternatural cunning by parties unseen, enabled by the endless human ability for wishful thinking and propensity for seeking of special status. The end game is being set up between the three camps of Old Testament Yahweh's followers. There is an alliance of opportunity at this time between Zionists and Evangelical's, but this too will have a bloody end as the 'chosen peoples' fight it out for the top spot in the eyes of their bloodthirsty god.

The Exploding Guest

Ghassan Charbel Al-Hayat 2004/04/25

The world is scared. We could even say it is frightened. The current dangers do not resemble previous ones. Deterrence measurements are not enough. Protection procedures do not guarantee the non-occurrence of attacks. In various places, there is an increasing feeling that a bomb is about to explode. That a truck filled with explosives is reattempting to reach its target. That a man wearing a belt of explosives around his body, is about to push the button. A scared and depressed world. Official declarations formulated in the dialect of threat and menace. Cells with unknown residence, promising the world additional corpses and destruction.

Sacked for photo Americans weren't meant to see

Last Sunday a newspaper in Seattle, Washington, published a rare photograph of soldiers' coffins, each of them containing the body of an American who had died in Iraq. The coffins, each draped with the Stars and Stripes, had been loaded into the back of a cargo aircraft for a final journey to the US, where they would be buried. There were at least 18 of them in the picture, which was taken by a 50-year-old civilian contractor, Tami Silicio. On Wednesday Ms Silicio was sacked from her job, for taking the photograph and sharing it with news organizations.

Comment: As we said a few days ago, this is mind control, pure and simple. Think about it rationally. When the average American hears that there are photos that "Americans weren't meant to see" and that, shock! horror!, someone was actually fired for sharing them, the first thing most are going to do is attempt to see them. Similar pictures were obtained by another "1st Amendment activist" (read dupe) who filed for them under the freedom of information act. Does anyone really believe that US government intelligence agencies are not monitoring all applications for information under the freedom of information act? Does anyone really believe that if they so desired, the same intelligence agencies could not deny public access to certain files?

The final result of this leaking of photos that "Americans were not meant to see", is that an unprecedented number of Americans will now go out of their way to gaze upon images like the below which are designed to arouse subtle patriotic emotion that serve merely to lull the masses into an even deeper state of sleep. It is all too easy for "the powers that be" to control every aspect of what the people think, feel and believe. Lambs to the slaughter.

Yemeni president calls for "immediate" US pullout from Iraq

Sun Apr 25, 2:00 PM ET

SANAA (AFP) - Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh called for the "immediate" pullout of US-led coalition troops from Iraq and warned Washington it was earning the Muslims' hatred by backing Israel in the Arab-Israeli conflict.

"A year has passed without the realization of the slogans raised by the occupation forces, (who promised) security, stability, justice, freedom and democracy" when they invaded Iraq in March 2003, Saleh told the opening session of a conference of Arab and African parliamentary bodies.

"It has been proven to the world that there are no weapons of mass destruction," he said, referring to the main reason invoked by the United States and Britain to invade Iraq and overthrow the regime of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites).

"We want an immediate withdrawal of occupation forces. We do not want to see blood being shed" in Iraq, Saleh said of the escalating violence in the country.

Saleh also urged the United States "not to side with the Zionist entity (Israel) so that it does not reap the hatred of a billion Muslims in the Islamic world." [...]

Civilians die in gunfights on border

As scores are killed in northern town and Falluja ceasefire is strained, jostling for power intensifies

Jason Burke in Baghdad
Sunday April 25, 2004
The Observer

American troops fighting insurgents killed scores of civilians in protracted battles in a remote town on Iraq's Syrian borderlast week. The deaths, not previously reported due to the remoteness of the area, will raise tensions still further in the country and make the increasingly frantic attempts by the US-led coalition to ensure security and stability even harder. [...]

The battles on the western frontier - seen as critical to cutting off the flow of logistic support and volunteer fighters from Syria - are going unnoticed.

Yesterday, a rocket attack killed four US soldiers at a base north of Baghdad, bringing the number of US soldiers killed in April so far to 100, the highest total for a single month since the end of the war last year. More than 900 have been injured, at least 600 seriously in the same period. With fewer than half the 135,000 US soldiers in Iraq deployed on active combat, military experts describe the death toll as 'significant'.

[...] 'Any rational man knows that it would be impossible for the US to expend such massive human and material resources here and then allow any regime that isn't in their interests,' said Mohammed al-Askari, a retired general and political commentator. 'The Americans want influence and a strong ally. The Iraqis want their own government.'

Comment: Syria next? There is no withdrawing from the quagmire, nor was such ever seriously intended. The neocons' and Zionists' mission is meant to lead to Armageddon, no less, so why would there be need for an "exit strategy?" Nothing happens by accident, nor are there miscalculations, there is just lying about the intent. It is meant to get worse, always was.

Britain in Talks on Iraq, May Send More Troops

By Kate Kelland
Mon Apr 26, 3:02 AM ET

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain said on Monday it was in talks with its coalition partners about how to cope with the withdrawal of Spanish troops from Iraq -- a move which may lead to an expansion of British troop deployment.

With Spain planning to withdraw its 1,400 soldiers and escalating violence across the country, media reports suggested up to 2,000 more British troops could be sent to Iraq on top of the around 7,500 already there.

"In light of recent events -- the security situation and the anticipated withdrawal of the Spanish troops -- we are in discussions with coalition partners," a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Defense said. [...]

Army Rushing More Armored Humvees to Iraq

By DENIS D. GRAY, Associated Press Writer
Sun Apr 25, 6:02 PM ET

NAJAF, Iraq - Deafening noise, confusion and fear erupted as the roadside bomb slammed into the U.S. Army Humvee, knocking over Spc. Stephen Monti, who was manning a gun in the turret.

"Then we started checking whether we still had our 10 fingers on," Monti recalled of the recent ambush south of Baghdad.

Not only had all four soldiers escaped injury, but the vehicle — which had been fortified by armor plating and bulletproof glass — came through with just a few dents and a cracked windshield.

"There probably would have been wounds, maybe mortal ones, in your basic Humvee," said Monti, of St. Louis. "Every vehicle that goes out on the road should be 'up-armored.' Your safety is dramatically increased." [...]

When the war began, only about 2 percent of Army's 110,000 Humvees were armored. Now, of the nearly 15,000 Humvees in Iraq, about 1,500 to 2,000 are armored, according to the Army. The numbers are increasing. [...]

Comment: Wow, that means as many as 13% of the Humvees in Iraq are now armored! That leaves a staggering 87% that will end up being deathtraps for the soldiers that Bush and Americans claim to love so much.

Even blind old ladies terrify the cops

The Oregonian
Sunday, April 25, 2004

She was 71 years old.

She was blind.

She needed her 94-year-old mother to come to her rescue.

And in the middle of the dogfight -- in which Eunice Crowder was pepper-sprayed, Tasered and knocked to the ground by Portland's courageous men in blue -- the poor woman's fake right eye popped out of its socket and was bouncing around in the dirt.

How vicious and ugly can the Portland police get? Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have a winner. This 2003 case is so blatant, the use of force so excessive, the threat of liability so intimidating that the city just approved a $145,000 settlement.

But all those gung-ho fans of the cops can relax. Nothing has changed. Nothing will upset the status quo.

The cops aren't apologizing.

The cops aren't embarrassed.

The cops haven't been disciplined.

And the cops are still insisting, to the bitter end, that they "reasonably believed" this blind ol' bat was a threat to their safety and macho culture.

Eunice Crowder, you see, didn't follow orders. Eunice was uncooperative. Worried a city employee was hauling away a family heirloom, a 90-year-old red toy wagon, she had the nerve to feel her way toward the trailer in which her yard debris was being tossed.

Enter the police. Eunice, who is hard of hearing, ignored the calls of Officers Robert Miller and Eric Zajac to leave the trailer. When she tried, unsuccessfully, to bite the hands that were laid on her, she was knocked to the ground.

When she kicked out at the cops, she was pepper-sprayed in the face with such force that her prosthetic marble eye was dislodged. As she lay on her stomach, she was Tased four times with Zajac's electric stun gun.

And when Nellie Scott, Eunice's 94-year-old mother, tried to rinse out her daughter's eye with water from a two-quart Tupperware bowl, what does Miller do? According to Ernie Warren Jr., Eunice's lawyer, the cop pushed Nellie up against a fence and accused her of planning to use the water as a weapon.

Paranoia runs deep. Into your life it will creep. It starts when you're always afraid . . .

Afraid and belligerent. "Cops have changed," Warren said. "When I grew up, they weren't people who huddled together and their only friends were the cops. You had access to them all the time. You weren't afraid of them."

What did Police Chief Derrick Foxworth have to say about the case? "This did not turn out the way we wanted it to turn out," Foxworth said Friday. "Looking back, and I know the officers feel this as well, they may have done something differently. We would have wanted the minimal amount of force to have been used. But I feel we need to recognize Ms. Crowder has some responsibility. She contributed to the situation." [...]

China bars Hong Kong from electing leader in 2007

Last Updated Mon, 26 Apr 2004 7:39:49

BEIJING - Chinese lawmakers decided Monday that Hong Kong will not be allowed to directly elect its leader in 2007 or all of its legislators the following year, a decision seen by many as a blow to the territory's democratic aspirations.

China's most powerful legislative panel, the Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee, ruled that "universal suffrage shall not apply" to the selection of a leader in 2007 and of the legislative council in 2008.

Beijing's latest decision follows an earlier ruling that China's leadership would have the final say over any political change in Hong Kong.

Portland to Pay $145K for Pepper Spraying Old Woman

Fri Apr 23

PORTLAND, Ore. - The city of Portland has agreed to pay $145,000 to an elderly blind woman after police pepper-sprayed and shocked her with a stun gun.

The altercation began as an attempt to remove shrubs and appliances from 71-year-old Eunice Crowder's yard, and ended with police citing her for harassment and disobeying an order.

This week, the city agreed to settle her excessive force lawsuit out of federal court, a month after a Multnomah County Circuit Court judge dismissed the violations against her.

State attorney: Videotaped beating of prison wards not enough for prosecution

Associated Press Writer
Friday, April 23, 2004

San Joaquin County prosecutors acted reasonably by not criminally charging six California Youth Authority employees for the videotaped beating of two young wards, Attorney General Bill Lockyer said Friday. [...]

The current case involves a Jan. 20 fight at Stockton's N.A. Chaderjian Youth Correctional Facility that internal investigators say was started by two youths, ages 19 and 21, in a prison office. The fight soon spilled into a large commons area, where a video camera taped it.

After both youths are face-down and unresisting, the video shows one counselor repeatedly punching one of the wards in the head. A second counselor, after subduing his ward, appears to kick the youth in the head.

A third employee sprays the wards with pepper spray, including after they are subdued. And a fourth appears to shoot one of the unresisting youths with a paintball gun loaded with pepper spray pellets. Two other employees later allegedly filed false reports about the incident.

Louisiana May Ban Low-Slung Pants

Fri Apr 23

BATON ROUGE, La. - People who wear low-slung pants that expose skin or "intimate clothing" would face a fine of up to $500 and possible jail time under a bill filed by a Jefferson Parish lawmaker.

State Rep. Derrick Shepherd said he filed the bill because he was tired of catching glimpses of boxer shorts and G-strings over the lowered belt lines of young adults.

The bill would punish anyone caught wearing low-riding pants with a fine of as much as $500 or as many as six months in jail, or both.

Look out! It's the Japanese Mob!

As if it wasn't enough that "we the people" must endure the continuous stream of lies and BS from the powers that about the nature of reality and our place in it, now we must resign ourselves to the fact that the enemy is within and well as without. As we have often said, it seems that the central tenet of our existence is that our present reality and any possible future reality we might find ourselves in, is determined by the quality of the observations of the collective observers. The more objectively we SEE "what Is" the more chance we have to choose the nature of our future. It is in this way that we can truly participate in our existence. The "powers that be" know this and it is for this reason that our entire world is built on disinformation and outright lies and illusion. To prop up and perpetuate this dire state of affairs, "the powers that be" use "agents" - seemingly rationale and well educated people, often with "impeccable sources" - to do their bidding in ensuring that, at the crucial juncture, the masses of humanity are "looking in the wrong direction", so to speak.

Tom Bearden appears to be just this sort of "agent". In the below article, posted on Rumour Mill News, Mr Bearden presents us with the theory that the Japanese Yakuza, of all people, are planning the complete destruction of the United States, if not the entire planet. Of course, he has "impeccable sources", but sadly for all truth seekers, he will not divulge who these sources are - perhaps because they would be laughed at if he did. It's funny, saying that one has "impeccable sources that cannot be revealed, is like saying I have an invisible friend, and he is real, but of course, because he is invisible you cannot see him, but he IS real, really!

Horse Hockey alert!

Tom Bearden on the Coming Scalar Armageddon

From Rumour Mill News

Israel, Yakuza, 10 Nations have Scalar Weapons

In a recent letter posted on his website scalar scientist Tom Bearden talks about the seemingly relentless march of mankind toward a kind of Armageddon, made even more terrible to contemplate by the spread of scalar weaponry around the world. He gives his strongest affirmation yet that Israel is in possession of scalar weapons, saying that his sources on this are "impeccable," though he will not, of course, reveal them. Nor are these mind bogglingly terrible weapons in the hands of nations only, but also in the hands of a consortium made up of the Yakuza (Japanese mafia) the Aum Sringyiko cult. He is worried because these groups are not as "rational" as nations might be and might be tempted to use them simply to destroy the West. He is convinced that Yakuza took the technology from Russia back to Japan and now has limited ability to produce their own scalar interferometers.

Well thank you Mr Bearden! Where would we be if we didn't have 'ol Tom to warn us that the Japanese Yakuza are about to blow us all to Kingdom come. A good yardstick for Tom's grasp on reality can be seen in his comment that "these groups are not as rational as nations might be". We wonder which "rational nations" he is talking about? The US perhaps? Maybe the U.K.?

He also talks about the very real possibility of some group using scalar weapons to trigger huge eruptions in unstable volcanic areas like the Yellowstone caldera causing vast damage over a huge area and affecting the earth systems as a whole. In a previous letter he had responded to another writer's query about some uncharacteristic earthquakes at Yellowstone and stated his fear that the Yakuza may be preparing to attempt to trigger a mega-eruption there.

Of course! It all makes sense! We mean why wouldn't the Japanese mob want to destroy the US, and what better way than to simply get your hands on a scalar weapon (available from you local quicky mart) and then direct it at Yellowstone national park caldera. Simple! Why didn't we think of it! In fact, now that we do think of it, the last time we visited Yellowstone, we were wondering what that team of dodgy looking Japanese mobsters with complicated seismological instruments were doing. Now we know!

Tom Bearden, impeccably good at being impeccable with the non-revelation of his impeccable sources

To have these super weapons falling into the hands of fanatics is a grave danger that humanity is still largely blithely unaware of. I feel that the

veil of secrecy must come off these incredibly versatile and destructive weapons so that humanity can meet and face the danger they represent and work toward banning their use. They represent a far greater damage to life on earth than do nuclear weapons. They are "weapons of mass destruction" on a scale never before conceived by the minds of men.

Yes indeed, the grave danger to humanity is not the fact that evidence from impeccable, verifiable sources suggests that the earth goes through cyclic, cataclysmic destructions that are tied to the "human experiential cycle". Forget the objective evidence that in the past year there have been a dozen or more impacts and sightings. Everyone should just forget about all that and ponder the idea that those crazy Japanese are gonna Zap us all with a scalar weapon.

"The Yakuza definitely should be accounted as a major though very clandestine world terrorist organization, absolutely dedicated to the total destruction of the United States. Because they have scalar interferometry weapons, the Yakuza are potentially much more deadly strategically than the Al Qaeda...

Oooh! "Much more deadly than Al-Qaeda!" Well, that wouldn't be hard since "al-Qaeda", as Bearden is referring to them, do not exist. Tom has it, from his anonymous and unverifiable "impeccable resources" that the Japanese mobsters are " absolutely dedicated to the total destruction of the United States." Why? well.. because Tom's "impeccable sources" say so, that why! And you can't get much more impeccable than that! (apparently)

"The Yakuza used these same interferometers to shoot down the TWA-800 , e.g. and are using them right now to strongly engineer the weather over North America and elsewhere."

We have to agree with Tom on this one, it was only last week that we saw some sort of subliminal hypnotic opener in the clouds above our house. Clear evidence that the Japanese mob were after us. Not only that, but have any of you noticed an abnormal hankering for Sushi lately? More evidence that the Yakuza are not only messing with our clouds, but our minds too!!

Okay, nuff said, we can't take anymore. Tom goes on to blame scalar weapons on everything from gay rights to the breakdown of society. It's amazing the amount of horse hockey a monthly brown envelope can produce.

Half-Naked Couple Cause Stir Up a Tree

Fri Apr 23

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Two gay lovers took off most of their clothes, climbed up a tree in New York's Central Park and spent four hours engaging in sex acts and yelling abuse at police and firefighters.

Police said officers talked the men out of the three story high tree on Thursday night after the parks department had sent two cherry-pickers and firefighters had deployed an inflatable rescue mattress.

The two unidentified gay lovers protested their families' lack of understanding for their relationship by climbing the Central Park tree.

The couple, described by officials as a 32-year-old transsexual with female breasts wearing a purple thong and a 17-year-old boy in white boxer shorts, were admitted to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

At one point during the standoff in the larch tree -- an evergreen with pine-like needles -- the 32-year-old rejected a police officer's offer of a can of soda.

"This is a Coke. I wanted vanilla Diet Pepsi," he was quoted as saying in newspaper reports.

Comment: Ah, humanity. Whether an experiment gone wrong, or an experiment in the flush of success, one thing is beyond doubt; we are an experiment.
