Log - Pyrénéean Adventure
The
Signs Team Go A-Wanderin...
So, our secret
is out, our hardworking, stoic facade has been breached. Yes, we admit
it, for the first time in 444 consecutive days, yesterday the Signs team
abdicated their responsibilities and set out on a Pyrénéean
adventure. It wasn't so much that we had had enough of our daily confronting
of the inexorable decline of our world and needed to get away, but rather
that we had promised long ago to accompany Pierre Paul Feyte, (the celebrated
nature photographer and author of the Signs page "Pictures of the
Day") to experience first hand the isolated splendor and majesty
of the Pyrénées mountains, that he had so often talked so
much about.
So we set
off at 8 am, arriving back home at 11.30 pm. What happened in between
can only be described as a quest of Homeric proportions. Conditions were
unforgiving, trials were relentless, heroism was the hallmark...as you
shall see...
|
The
fools set off, 7,500 feet above the French countyside. Strong willed,
yet, unknown to them, weak calfed. Much to our surprise and distress,
the chairlifts were not working. |
|
The Path leads on, but to where?... |
|
In search of something - but what? No one
seemed to know...least of all the guy in the beret - yet our spirits
were not dampened. We trudged onward... |
|
The first surprise - was it really a lake,
or just a convincing cover for something altogether more sinister?
There was only one way to find out....find the source. |
|
Finally the source was uncovered - a pool
of crystal clear mountain water... Yet there was little time to
enjoy it... |
|
Mossad had sent spies, disguised as mountain
goats, but just when we thought we had the situation under control,
out of nowhere appeared... |
|
The battle was short, but decisive. Thanks in no small part
to their Signs page training (and an old piece of baguette), evil
was outwitted and put to flight. The Signs team rightfully basked
in the glory and praise that they heaped upon themselves (since
no one else would).
Next stop, the Grail...
