Strong winds, heavy rain shut down World Trade Bridge

A busy commercial truck crossing on the Mexico-United States border was closed yesterday after a severe storm brought strong winds and heavy rain, flipping tractor-trailers on their sides and causing damage to the World Trade Bridge in Nuevo Laredo.

The governments of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Laredo reported that damage from the storm, initially thought to be a tornado, was considerable, knocking down communications antennas and leaving many areas without electricity.

The storm struck about 8:30pm and knocked out power to Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa, Valle Hermoso and Matamoros, among other locations, delivering gusts of wind of up to 90 kilometers per hour.

At the border crossing, signs and trees were blown over and Mexican Customs facilities sustained severe damages.

The bridge, which carries more than 12,000 cargo vehicles a day between Nuevo Laredo and Laredo, Texas, remained closed this morning until further notice.

Neither fatalities nor injuries were reported as a result of the storm.

With atmospheric changes expected during the grand solar minimum intensification and the inter-tropical convergence zone shifting, strange occurrences in our skies are to be expected. Here we go, Ground to Sky Lightning, but the media blames it on mobile phone towers. Also record cold and snow records broken during the latest storm on record with the greatest snow depths back to 1880's. Also I included the newest research I have on the timeline and intensification for the grand solar minimum.

It's the video that you can't take your eyes off of! Storms in Oklahoma City last night produced lots of lightning. But it's this video here that has many wondering " How did it do this?"

There are 2 thoughts to this.

1- TV towers are manmade objects thus creating "unnatural" electric potential. In this case we'd call this a "ground-to-cloud" lightning strike. The towers, which likely had a positive charge to it, generated lightning that then moved toward an area in the sky that had a negative charge. Remember opposites attract.

Main roads leading into Red Sea resort also closed due to thick cloud of orange sand

Poor visibility caused by a massive and unexpected sandstorm on Thursday prompted authorities in Eilat to close both the airport and two main highways in and out of the southern city on the Red Sea.

Route 90, which connects Eilat to the rest of the country was shut in both directions from the Arava junction. Route 12, to the west, was also closed.

The Environment Ministry cautioned that those at risk, including children, the elderly, the ill, and pregnant women, should refrain from going outside, while the general population should not take part in strenuous physical activities outside.

Sandstorms often accompany hot winds blowing in from the Sinai desert.

In March, a Tel Aviv-bound flight from Vienna was forced to return to Austria as a result of a heavy sandstorm blanketing Israel.
