From the afternoon of May 30th to the afternoon of May 31st, heavy rain to heavy rain occurred in Heyuan, Huizhou, Jieyang, Shanwei, Shaoguan, and northern Guangzhou, local extremely heavy rains, of which extremely heavy rains occurred in Huizhou Longmen, Boluo, Shanwei Lufeng, Heyuan Zijin Jieyang Huilai.
As of 17:50 on May 31st, due to the heavy rain, the province has relatively high risks of disasters such as floods in small and medium rivers, mountain torrents and geological disasters, and urban and rural waterlogging. On May 31, the Guangdong Provincial Office of Three Preventions and the Guangdong Provincial Emergency Management Department issued a notice, deciding to initiate a flood prevention level IV emergency response at 8:30 that day.
Two to three months of rain pelted Canterbury in the space of a few days in the deluge.
Mt Hutt Ski Area manager James McKenzie said four to five metres of snow fell at the summit between Monday and Tuesday.
About 40-50cm has also fallen at the base.
He said they were having access issues getting to the top of the mountain and took a helicopter up.
"It was pretty impressive, right up to the top of our big wind fence up there.
"The Hutt is pretty much buried in snow at the summit."
McKenzie said the snow at the summit is crusted with ice.

As of 01 June the centre of the storm was estimated at 125 km east-southeast of Guiuan in Eastern Samar. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Choi-Wan is forecast to make initial landfall over Eastern Samar or Leyte late 01 June or early 02 June (local time). The storm is forecast to maintain its strength prior to landfall. Choi-Wan may weaken into a tropical depression on 04 June and to a Low Pressure Area on 05 June. PAGASA warned of heavy rain, rough seas, storm surge and strong winds.

Roselio Antogop, 51, is one of two people, who died after they were struck by lightning during heavy rains on Sunday, May 30, at past 1 p.m. in Liloan town northern Cebu.
Nisa Momo and Roselio Antogop died after lightning struck them in the makeshift shanty in the town's Purok Tambis, Barangay Poblacion, said the Liloan Police in its report.
The 71-year-old Momo was the owner of the garden, selling ornamental plants, where the makeshift shanty that the victims took shelter from the rain was located, and it was there that they were struck by lighning.
The 51-year-old Antogop, a resident of the area, was just there to take shelter in the shanty from the rain.
They said that ten sheep were also injured in the natural incident late last night.
The flock belonged to Sthara Shaikh s/o Abdul Aziz of Lathoong Surankote and his relatives, they said.
The incident occurred when nomads along with herds were on seasonal migration towards Kashmir Valley, they said.
A police officer confirmed the incident to a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS).
Meanwhile, the affected have requested the authorities to provide them compensation within the shortest possible time. (GNS)
District governor Vannak Sopheanit said all of the dead and injured were men aged 35 to 67. One of the injured was in critical condition.
"They were all workers hired to construct a road in the commune. When it rained, they ran to take shelter under a house nearby and was struck by lightning," he said.
According to a report from the National Committee for Disaster Management, in January-April lightning strikes killed at least 19 people and 21 cattles.
