Four, including two teenagers, died after being hit by lightning in Nirmal, Kamareddy and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts on Saturday.
In Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, lighting claimed the lives of two buffalo ranchers at Jilukalagutta (hillock) near Garmillapally village. The deceased were Salupala Komuraiah (45) and Merugu Naresh (17) of the same village. Besides, 35 buffalos were also killed in the incident. Komuraiah is survived by his wife and three sons.
Flooding struck in Accra and surrounding areas in Ghana on 10 October after heavy rainfall.
Media reported a heavy downpour lasting several hours, early on 10 October, causing floods in areas of Accra and neighbouring Kasoa in Central Region. Just over 78 mm of rain was recorded at Kotoka International Airport in Accra in 24 hours to 10 October.
The floods caused traffic chaos, with some reports of vehicles being abandoned or swept away. Images shared on Social Media showed roads turned to rivers, with raging flood water up to 1 metre deep. Reports also suggest homes have also been damaged, although there are no reports of displacements or fatalities.
Days of heavy rainfall in South East Asia have caused flooding in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. More severe weather is on its way as Tropical Storm "Linfa" approaches central Vietnam.
Cambodia
Flooding in parts of Cambodia over the last few days has left at least 10 people dead and thousands affected.
The first of the recent spate of flooding began in early October 2020 when around 150 people were evacuated from their homes in areas of Banteay Meanchey province, in particular Ou Chrov District close to the border with Thailand.
Several other provinces were also affected by heavy rain at the time, including Pursat, Battambang, Kampong Speu and Kampong Chhnang.

Hurricane Delta floods the gulf coastal town of Sulphur, Louisiana.
More than 5 million people are under flash flood warnings across the lower Mississippi River Valley after Delta made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane and continued to drench the Southeast.
Delta, now a tropical storm, dropped over a foot of rain in Louisiana and its powerful winds pounded communities already ravaged by Hurricane Laura weeks ago. In its wake, it left nearly 730,000 homes and businesses along the Gulf Coast without power, according to poweroutage.us.
Flash flood emergencies were also issued following the heavy rain, with parts of southwest Louisiana receiving up to 17 inches of water. Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter, who rode out the storm in a downtown building, said the experience felt a little like "deja vu."
Tension heightened at mile 5, Ugbolu, Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State after lightning killed two yet to be identified persons during a heavy downpour. Vanguard correspondent reports that the two dead persons, a male and female were in a makeshift shop when the incident occurred. They both died on the spot, it was also reported that five other persons sustained serious injuries.
Although the identity of the victims were unknown at press time, the man was said to be an Evangelist who hailed from the community while the woman was said to be a cassava farmer.
One of the survivors, Mrs. Gladys Okah, who spoke with newsmen, said she ran into a meat shop owned by one Mrs. Ortega due to the heavy downpour when the thunder struck.
The rare weather phenomenon, which looks very similar to lightning, was said to have been captured by a military plane from the 99th Squadron of the UK Royal Air Force during a nighttime flight through the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) near the equator.
The UK Royal Air Force's Number 99 Squadron released on Monday footage of a rare weather phenomenon, known as "St. Elmo's Fire", captured by the aircrew of a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III near the equator.
The Number 99 Squadron tweeted that the incident took place while the C-17 was passing through the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
Vietnam's Disaster Management Authority (DMA) reports that at least 6 people have died or are missing after days of heavy rainfall in central parts of the country.
DMA said one person died in floods in Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province. Also in Quang Tri, 4 people are missing after being swept away by flash flooding in the mountainous district of Huong Hoa. Local media report that around 5,000 people from 1,100 families in Huong Hoa have evacuated their homes and moved to safer areas after the Sesan River broke its banks. Heavy rain in the province also caused landslides which have blocked several roads. As much as 435 mm of rain fell in Huong Linh, Quang Tri, in 24 hours to 07 October, 2020.
Also affected are the provinces of Quang Nam, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang and Gia Lai, where 2 other flood-related fatalities were reported.
At least 4 people have died after a landslide struck in Sololá Department in the west of Guatemala.
Guatemala's disaster agency CONRED said that the landslide struck in the village of San Marcos La Laguna late on 06 October. Days of heavy rain had destabilised the ground on slopes surrounding the village, triggering a landslide that pushed a boulder measuring 3 metres by 5 metres onto houses below.
At least 8 houses were completely destroyed and a further 44 were damaged or considered at risk. CONRED said that 10 people were injured and a total of 60 people affected, with 263 considered at risk.
Heavy rain in the country has also caused some flooding, although no fatalities were reported. Floods severely damage roads in Taxisco, Santa Rosa Department, and swamped streets of Mazatenango in Suchitepéquez Department.
State power has its own limits defined by the fact that it is authority that reaches people from outside. State power cannot oversee and dictate the creative states of the soul and mind, the inner states of love, freedom and goodwill. The state cannot demand from its citizens faith, prayer, love, goodness and conviction. It cannot regulate scientific, religious and artistic creation. It should not intervene in moral, family and daily private life, and only when extremely necessary should it impinge on people's economic initiative and creativity.
