Los Alcázares had sent out workers to check on drains and Protección Civíl was on patrol in San Pedro del Pinatar.

The rain in Spain stayed mainly in Águilas on Sunday morning, as rainfall inland swept down into the ramblas which disgorged into the Mediterranean, leading to lucky escapes for two vehicle owners, and left over 60mm of rain in Águilas itself.

The original forecast had been for the worst of the rain to hit Mazarrón and the Campo de Cartagena all around the Mar Menor, but in this area the maximum rainfall was around 40mm in Los Alcázares, leading to plenty of muddy puddles and minor flooding, but there were no significant problems as there have been in the past.

Civil Protection Search Operations After Floods

At least 10 people died or are missing after flash floods in Chlef Province of Algeria on 06 March 2021.

Civil Protection said that the Chlef Province experienced heavy rainfall on 06 March, causing the Wadi Meknasa to flood in an areas of the Oud Sly Commune, west of the city of Chlef. Three vehicles were swept away in the flooding and nearby houses damaged.

As of 07 March, 7 fatalities had been reported as a result of the floods. Five of the deceased are believed to be from the same family. Civil Protection and other emergency workers continue to search for 3 missing people.

Severe flooding recently affected the province of Jijel in northern Algeria after 140mm of rain fell in 24 hours to 21 December.

Thousands cut off by floods in Piura Region, Peru

Heavy rainfall over the last few days has caused flooding in parts of Piura Region in norther Peru.

The country's National Institute of Civil Defence (INDECI) reported on 02 March 2021 that as a result of intense rainfall, there was damage to roads, homes and public buildings in the districts of Tambogrande, Las Loma, Chulucanas and Canchaque. In a report of 04 March INDECI said parts of Máncora and San Miguel de El Faique districts were also affected. Media reported that areas of the city of Piura were also flooded.

In total 182 homes have been damaged and 5 destroyed, according to INDECI figures. Three health facility buildings have also been damaged.

The worst hit areas are in Tambogrande district where as many as 14,000 people have been cut off after roads were flooded in areas around Malingas, according to media reports.

Loose marina floats down Kentucky River

There are 18 states are on alert for flooding on Wednesday.

Rivers continue to flow out of their banks from Texas to West Virginia where 18 states are on alert for flooding on Wednesday.

The Kentucky River and Ohio River are most at risk for major to moderate flooding to continue for the next several days as entire towns continue to be submerged under water in Kentucky where a state of emergency has been declared.

The rain, however, should stay away from the flooded region for the next several days.

Civil Defence Search Operations in Rivera,

Recent heavy rainfall in Colombia has caused flooding and landslides in which at least 4 people have died.

In Huila Department, emergency teams recovered 3 bodies from a vehicle that had become trapped in flood waters of the Frio River in the municipality of Rivera on 01 March 2021. According to Colombia's Civil Defence, the deceased included the consul of Panama. Firefighters were able to rescue the driver and two passengers.

The body of 70-year-old Rizalda Matambonoy was found buried in the mud after a landslide occurred in Purok 22, Barangay Mt. Diwata, a gold rush site in the municipality of Monkayo in Davao de Oro province on Tuesday, Mar. 2.

In the latest video posted by the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (BDRRMC) of Mt. Diwata, the responders used an excavator to retrieve the body of Matambonoy.

Residents in the village were shocked seeing mud and rocks rushing down the slope Monday afternoon.

A severe storm has hit Brisbane, leaving up to 18,000 homes without power and flooding the Pacific Motorway in the CBD.

Greenbank, south of Brisbane, recorded 73mm in the 30 minutes to 5pm while Michelton recorded 61mm in half an hour.

'These thunderstorms are moving towards the north to northeast,' the Bureau of Meteorology said about the severe storm hitting Brisbane.

'They are forecast to affect Narangba, Burpengary and Beachmere by 6.20pm and Caboolture, Wamuran and Beerburrum by 6:50pm.'

Floods in Grande Do Sul, Brazil after a month's worth of rain in 2 hours

Heavy rainfall hit the municipality of Lagoa Vermelha in the state of Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, from late 01 March 2021. Strong winds and lightning were also reported.

Flooding damaged homes and roads. After carrying out initial assessments, the municipal government said at least 32 houses were severely damaged, some even destroyed, leaving families homeless. The municipality is considering declaring a state of emergency as a result of the damage.

Much of the damage was in the neighbourhood of Rodrigues. Centro, Gaúcha, Medianeira, Gentil and São Sebastião neighbourhoods were also badly affected.

Civil Defence reported rainfall totals of 112.2 mm in just two hours. Local observers suggested the rainfall was over 220mm. The city would see around 118 mm of rain during a typical February.

Damaging flash floods in Catamarca, Argentina - 3.5 inches of rain in an hour

A severe storm brought torrential rainfall to Catamarca Province, Argentina, on 01 March 2021. Severe damages were reported in the city of Catamarca.

Warnings for severe weather were issued and the Civil Defence Directorate asked residents to stay in their homes "in the face of the strong storm in the Central Valley area and inland towns."

Local media reported 90 mm of rain in 1 hour in the city of Catamarca. Buildings, road and infrastructure were damaged and power and drinking water supply cut. Around 20 families were evacuated and over 240 buildings damaged including a the San Juan Bautista Hospital.
