Creature 'slightly underweight' but otherwise doing fine

A walrus has been spotted in Wales after being seen in Ireland.

The Arctic animal, which was seen on rocks near Broad Haven South beach, in Pembrokeshire, on Friday, is thought to be the same one seen off the coast of County Kerry the week before.

Officials have warned anyone who spots it in their area to respect the "sensitive species".

"The tired, young Walrus last spotted on Valentia Island, County Kerry, last Sunday has been spotted in Wales!" Sea Rescue Ireland said.

A Springfield family is in mourning after a tragic dog attack claimed the life of a 1-year-old girl.

Springfield Police say young A'myrikal Hull was bitten on the head by the dog near the 800 block of Indiana Avenue.

She was taken to HSHS St. John's Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

A'myrikal Hull's family is sharing memories of their little girl.

"The dog [has] never snapped before," Cory Painter said. "I was in shock since 1:30 this morning. The fact that she didn't make it crushed my soul."

Cory Painter's grandson is A'myrikal's sibling. She has known the child since birth.

Enigmatic circling behavior observed in numerous marine animals

Circling Behaviour

This image shows the circling behavior of various marine megafauna.
Technological advances have made it possible for researchers to track the movements of large ocean-dwelling animals in three dimensions with remarkable precision in both time and space. Researchers reporting in the journal iScience on March 18 have now used this biologging technology to find that, for reasons the researchers don't yet understand, green sea turtles, sharks, penguins, and marine mammals all do something rather unusual: swimming in circles.

"We've found that a wide variety of marine megafauna showed similar circling behavior, in which animals circled consecutively at a relatively constant speed more than twice," says Tomoko Narazaki of the University of Tokyo.

Narazaki's team first discovered the mysterious circling behaviors in homing green turtles during a displacement experiment. They had transferred nesting turtles from one place to another to study their navigation abilities.

"To be honest, I doubted my eyes when I first saw the data because the turtle circles so constantly, just like a machine!" Narazaki says. "When I got back in my lab, I reported this interesting discovery to my colleagues who use the same 3D data loggers to study a wide range of marine megafauna taxa."

What came next surprised the researchers even more: they realized that various species of marine animals showed more or less the same circling movements. This finding is surprising in part because swimming in a straight line is the most efficient way to move about. It suggests there must be some good reason that animals circle.

Ice Age Farmer Report: They're Coming for your Animals - UK confirms gassing chickens

ice age farmer
Governments are moving rapidly to remove your right to raise animals completely. The UK has confirmed via FOIA the gassing of people's backyard chickens around a poultry facility in Kent.

Colorado's PAUSE act will destroy their meat industry. And livestock registration is rolling out around the world. There is a war on Animal Agriculture. Yes, factory farms are abhorrent, and we must rapidly move to a decentralized, regenerative food system--but rather than support this, governments are pointing at disgusting CAFOs and saying, "We must END ALL ANIMAL AGRICULTURE." They are precluding the solution, so that they take total control of food production.

Christian breaks it down AND explains why we cannot allow this to happen.

Sea turtles stranded along Florida beaches with mystery illness

turtle
Sea turtles along the Florida coast from Jacksonville to Brevard are falling sick and wildlife experts are working hard to find out why.

The turtles — primarily Green sea turtles — have been coming ashore from the ocean and lagoons in increasing numbers over the past few weeks. They're being taken to the Brevard Zoo and to specialty turtle rehab centers around Florida, according to Shanon Gann with the Brevard Zoo Sea Turtle Healing Center.

"There's not one specific ailment. Most of them are stranding from the ocean and presenting with lethargy and low glucose," she said Wednesday. "It's not boat strikes or a parasite."

Rescue group responds to dozens of birds found dead in Leland, North Carolina - cause unknown

Grackle
Dozens of birds have reportedly died due to unknown causes in Leland, according to local group SkyWatch Bird Rescue.

"After a call to our wildlife hotline, an intake of 12 Grackles at once were received last night on our after hours non contact drop off porch, for urgent care. This is a very unusual intake so we suspected that where they came from, there may be more. Volunteers went out today to search the area and found dozens more in the areas of McDonald's, KFC, Taco Bell and parking lot of Piggly Wiggly in Leland NC. These birds tend to scavenge parking lots in flocks," according to a Facebook post.

Unfortunately, many of the birds were dead by the time rescuers got to them, or in catatonic states.

Tiger
A boy was killed and his grandfather a plantation worker seriously injured in a tiger attack at Belluru village in Ponnampet taluk of Kodagu district on Monday. The victim was identified as Rangaswamy, 8, while his grandfather, Kencha, a plantation worker, has been hospitalised.

Conservator of Forests T. Hiralal said the Forest Department team has identified the marauding tiger, which is about 10 years old. The official said the team has tracked the animal to a sacred grove or devara kaadu. The combing operations are on and the tiger has been cornered, he added.

Earlier in the day, the team had tried to tranquilise the animal which was lurking in the bushes but sources said the tranquiliser dart missed its mark. The marksmen accompanying a foot patrol team had come close to the tiger and hence were forced to open fire but the tiger escaped. A senior official said the combing and tracking operation would was suspended late in the evening and will resume at dawn.

Monday's incident is the third human death due to a tiger attack in Kodagu in the last three weeks and has resulted in widespread anger against the authorities for their failure to curb human-animal conflict.

Comment: Tiger attacks on people skyrocket in the Sundarbans, India - 70 in 3 months with 40 deaths

Record 93 dolphin and whale deaths reported in first 2 months of 2021 in Ireland

Missing: Fungie the dolphin, who has lived for decades near the Dingle Peninsula, Co Kerry, is 'more likely' to have died.

Missing: Fungie the dolphin, who has lived for decades near the Dingle Peninsula, Co Kerry, is 'more likely' to have died.
Mystery surrounds the worst spate of dolphin and whale strandings on record in Ireland.

There have been 93 dead dolphins, whales and porpoises washed up along the coast in the first two months of the year - the highest number ever recorded in that time period.

Four were successfully refloated after efforts from volunteers but 89 died.

Last year, the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group received 70 reports of the animals washing up dead in the winter months, which was unprecedented, but it was surpassed this year with 93 strandings.
