According to residents, the incident took place near the Aabe Hayat police station. "The children were playing on the streets when the dogs suddenly attacked them," a neighbour said.
He added that the boys had sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident and summoned a report from the city commissioner immediately.
The dolphins included seven mature females, one mature male, and three juveniles.
The animals had been unable to return to the Red Sea's waters due to receding tides, the sources explained, and had likely stranded due to being pushed into shallower waters in search of food.
According to a report by the sources, the dolphins were found in an area where striped coral reefs were growing, extending around five kilometers from the shore in the direction of open water.

Swallows usually migrate in September but the mild start to October has left them stuck in the Lot in southwest France
Residents in the Lot, in the Midi-Pyrénées, Occitanie, have reported that many swallows have been suffering in the cold and wet weather conditions, and have been dying from exhaustion after becoming drenched and freezing.
Stéphanie Plaga Lemanski, director at LPO Lot, told local newspaper La Dépêche: "One school in the department counted almost 50 dead swallows in its playground, and the commune of Corn found around 20 dead. It's a massacre; a desolate spectacle of corpses."

The Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment are responding to reports four whales have become trapped in Macquarie Harbour, on Tasmania's west coast where 470 of the mammals were stranded last month (pictured)
The Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment are responding to reports a large pilot whale became stuck in the harbour near Strahan on Saturday afternoon.
Three smaller pilot whales, which were swimming with the large whale before it became stranded, also remain in the harbour.
The whales appear to be healthy and should be returned to sea on Sunday, wildlife biologist Sam Thalmann says.
The dog was identified as a pit bull or pit bull mix, said Kyle Foreman of the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
The incident unfolded at about 11:20 a.m. when a neighbor called 911 to report a dog attack at the Harvest Manor Mobile Home Park in the 4800 block of Airway Drive.
Deputies and medics responded to the scene and found the man and woman with severe injuries consistent with a dog attack.

Some of the 400 birds Stephen Maciejewski collected in Center City Philadelphia Oct. 2, during what Pennsylvania Audubon says a rare event with from 1,000 to 1,500 birds colliding into buildings in just a three block area.
"This probably happened yesterday," said Maciejewski, a 71-year-old retired social worker and volunteer for Audubon Pennsylvania. He labeled a plastic bag with the time, date, and location, tucked the slim migrator into it, and continued his rounds.
Maciejewski gets emotional when he speaks about all the birds he finds, but nothing, he says, prepared him for what happened Friday.
"So many birds were falling out of the sky, we didn't know what was going on," he said, choking up. "It was a really catastrophic event. The last time something like this happened was in 1948."

Jake, left and Elwood both have fully formed and completely functional heads and facial features and are able to eat, see, hear, and move their heads on their own.
Mike and Tanya Pfaeffle, who moved into their Milford home in 2008, quickly discovered a few northeastern painted turtles living on their property. Since then, they have watched over the turtles, whose numbers increase each spring.
"There were a few when we moved here. We don't really do anything except for putting cages over egg clutches to keep predators out each spring. This just gives them a chance," Mike explained. "This year there were five turtles, 35 eggs. Thirty-four of the eggs hatched, and the turtles are doing well. This includes the two-headed turtles that we found and were advised to bring inside to help them survive."
Two-headed turtles are extremely rare, but this year's hatchlings included two of them. One survived, and the Pfaeffles are caring for it (or them). They named the turtle Jake and Elwood.

A young black skimmer with a swollen leg joint was spotted on Marco Island on August 23. Dozens of sick and dying skimmers were found throughout the summer on the island and The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission continues to investigate the cause.
Young black skimmers, a state-protected species, were seen limping and dying in alarming numbers in the state's Big Marco Pass critical wildlife area.
"This summer, a number of chicks started hobbling like they had arthritis and some died," Marco resident Andrew Tyler said. "These were primarily juveniles."
Wildlife officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have confirmed there has been an unusual number of sick and dying skimmers.
"The birds displayed swollen leg joints and lameness," FWC spokeswoman Michelle Kerr wrote in an email. "Full necropsy results are still pending, and once complete, may help with a more accurate interpretation of what caused the illness."
It is alleged that the little Zané-Mari died on her way to hospital.
The mother, Zan-Mari van Zyl (21), told Beeld newspaper that she heard the girl crying inside the room and the sound of dog paws on the wooden floor.
When she walked into the bedroom she saw the two dogs on top of the child.
